HURRICANE UPDATES

Dave Mason, the web master, does a GREAT job keeping the website up to date, so

don’t forget to check it out! The website Gallery is now our “scrapbook” as he adds

captions to each photo.

Summer travels, con’t from Sep newsletter From Janet & Baylor: Baylor and I went to see my sister and her husband in Duluth ,MN, who I hadn't seen for 9 years. We had a wonderful trip . The motorhome performed perfectly. What a joy. Her husband Don who has had Alzheimer's for sever-al years, it was good to see him too. He has now passed on and will be greatly missed. We have wonderful memories and we are so glad that we took this trip. Seeing and being with all of her family was wonderful, they kept us busy every day going places and feeding us .We traveled about 3000 miles and were gone about 2 weeks.

Neil & Gail Noffsinger: “Thanks for checking in and we are doing fine. Yesterday was 6 weeks in our coach & we have a nice site on the water, fairly close to our flooded home. Work is proceeding & sheet rocking is in process. They are still telling us in will be another 3-4 months before we will be able to move back in. Wish we could get away in the rig but we are making daily trips to the house to check on contractors, continue outside clean-up, etc. Please tell the Renegade crew we are thinking of them & wish them well, but unfortunately it will be early next year before we will be able to make another rally. Can't wait!! Take care & best regards-- Neil & Gail” Ken & Marcie Gilley: “Our home in Port Aransas is a total loss along with all our things in it. I was able to save some of our family photos but not much else. It will be torn down. This town is looks like a war zone. Guess now we will be full time even tho we hadn't planned on doing that.” Dick and Charlotte Kohrs “….are living in their RV at their San Leon property and are so glad they bought the Allegro last year. The house on the Dickinson Bayou is probably a total loss, however, they are buying a home in the Village at Tuscan Lakes and will call League City home soon.” Rick and Pam Lowrance (Ransom Road RV Park ) , “we are safe and staying in our coach at the park. Park suffered heavy damage to above ground water and electricity. A dozen trailers overturned ( some people didn't heed the man-datory evacuation order) and debris everywhere. Our crew started cleaning up on Monday and we are up and running and open for business. Needless to say we have a great group of people here at the park. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.”

This Month in STR History 1982

Traveler’s World Trailer Park in San Antonio was the location of this month’s rally. Bob & LaVonne Humphreys, co-founders of

Renegades, were presented with a special plaque. 24 member coaches were in attendance and “...was the largest rally they ever

had…” A tour of the SAS factory took place as well as playing games and eating! They were planning for the Winter National

Convention which was held at Joe Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. Renegades were responsible for the information booth.

1983

La Floresta RV Park in Mercedes is where this rally was held. 27 member coaches were in attendance and there were 4 visitor

coaches, also. They traveled into Progresso, Mexico for dinner, played games, had a golf and shuffleboard tournament, swam

and sit in the hot tub. Rally fee was $10 per person and parking fee was $5. My how times have changed!

1984

Maricopa RV Park, Canyon Lake was the site for this month’s rally. There were 31 members listed among these were a record 9

new members listed! There was several contests held, how many M & M’s, Where are you in this picture?, What is in the Hal-

loween bag? There was a seminar on generators and inverters presented. The evening festivities included games and skits.

1985

Maricopa RV Park, Canyon Lake was the site of this month’s rally with 44 member coaches in attendance. During the business

meeting, they attempted to set a $15 limit for the rally fee, but it did not pass. Besides the usual activities of eating and playing

games, they watched a movie about the Mount St Helens eruption.

1986

Fun N Sun Park, San Bonita was the site of this month’s rally and apparently it was 6-State. 80 Renegade coaches attended!!

During this rally, they ate lots of food, went into Mexico for shopping, attended lots of seminars. The entertainment included a

Mariachi Band and Folk Dancers. Some also attended the Confederate Air Show at the Harlingen Airport. There was also a

USO show of the 40’s complete with uniforms and Big Band Music.

1987

Riverview RV Park located in Kerrville was the site of this month’s rally. There were 29 member coaches and one guest coach

in attendance. They ate and ate and ate. They participated in a fashion show and gave away a lot of door prizes. They were go-

ing to vote on the revision of the by-laws at the Nov rally. Some of these revisions included: membership read “...shall be eligible

for invitation to membership…” and “...membership...shall be limited to 125 coaches. To be eligible...must attend two regular

meetings in a 12 month period…” They also had a waiting list “...of eligible candidates.” And “ ...a majority vote of those in at-

tendance at a regularly scheduled meeting...” before they can become members. Also apparently they held a rally in Dec at this

time. Wagonmasters were appointed by the Executive Committee.

1988

The rally was held at the Maricopa RV Ranch in Canyon Lake. Apparently new members had to be voted in, as they welcomed

two new member coaches at this rally. There were 38 member coaches in attendance. They played Bridge as well as Hearts and

31. There was even soothing piano music during dinner.

1989

The rally was held at the Maricopa RV Ranch in Canyon Lake. This rally was a big one with 39 member coaches, 4 guests

coaches and 2 member couples and one guest couple staying in cabins. They had planned a golf tournament, but lacked enough

participants. Also scheduled was a Bridge tournament and a Tripoli tournament. There was entertainment on Saturday even-

ing in the form of an accordion player. Gary & Sindy Smith were guests at this rally.

1990

This month’s rally was held at the Stone Creek RV Park in Schertz. They participated in a golf tournament (Gary Smith was on

the third place team), a Bridge tournament (Sindy Smith won the Good Sportsmanship award) and a Domino tournament (Gary

Smith was 3rd place winner). There were 28 member coaches in attendance (this was Gary & Sindy’s second visit). They report-

ed 93 members during this rally.
