In its 2nd edition and following the great success of the 2014 edition, Salon du Chocolat, the world’s largest event dedicated to chocolate, opened its doors to the public with gourmet workshops and demonstrations. More than 30 pastry chefs and over 60 exhibitors gathered in celebration of chocolate.

Professional chocolate tasters, sweet specialists, well-known chocolate brands, chocolatiers, chocolate enthusiasts, authors and pastry chefs showcased their expertise in the use of chocolate.

Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy live presentations and left the exhibition with baskets loaded with scrumptious treats bought from the show and many other promotional goodies.

The exhibition also featured the renowned chocolate fashion show, in addition to the Choco demo and Chocoland.

The festivities kicked off with a splendid fashion show themed “1001 Nights.” Under on the patronage of His Excellency, French Ambassador Emmanuel Bonne and in the presence of Commercial Attaché, Henri Castores, fourteen chocolate dresses debuted on the runway. Designed by celebrated Lebanese designers and realized with the help of top pastry chefs and chocolatiers, the creations were spectacular. Acclaimed Lebanese fashion mogul Abed Mahfouz, who was the guest of honor at the event, collaborated with celebrity chef Charles Azar to create the opening showstopper.

+15,000 visitors enjoyed the live presentations and left the exhibition with baskets loaded with delicious treats and giveaway items.

Pour la première fois le Sa-lon du chocolat se tiendra du 6 au 8 novembre au centre d’expositions et de loisirs du Biel. Parallèlement se dé-roulera la quatrième édition du Beirut Cooking Festival. Coïncidence ? Certainement pas. Si ces événements cu-linaires ont lieu au même moment, c’est que la semaine du 3 au 9 novembre est aussi la semaine internationale du goût.

Après avoir enchanté les papilles gustatives aux quatre coins du monde, et ce depuis vingt ans, le Salon du choco-lat, plus grand Salon inter-national dédié au cacao et au chocolat, s’installe au Liban, élargissant son rayonnement cosmopolite. Pour les orga-nisateurs, « c’est une bonne chose d’avoir ajouté le nom du Liban » à cette liste déjà longue de 180 participants.

Sa mission est de dynamiser les échanges et de resserrer les liens dans l’univers du chocolat, ce qui, en temps de crise économique, n’est pas négligeable.

Le chocolat ne manque pas d’admirateurs... et c’est à ces derniers que s’adressent les nombreuses activités pro-posées. De nombreux stands seront mis à leur disposition, organisés par la compagnie Hospitality Services. Les exposants sont de petits pâ-tissiers, aux grandes firmes de production chocolatière ; mais pas seulement : en effet, de multiples animations sont prévues. De célèbres chefs feront des démonstrations, dévoilant leurs meilleures recettes. Des ateliers sont ar-rangés pour apprendre à cui-siner. Financiers, chocolat à l’orange, bûches de Noël, les idées ne manquent pas. Une tradition du Salon au cho-colat est le célèbre Fashion

Show, un défilé de robes et d’accessoires faits de choco-lat. Incontournable du Salon, il est très attendu, et permet-tra aux artisans libanais de montrer l’étendue de leur sa-voir-faire, sur le thème « La magie du chocolat ». Quant aux enfants, ils ne sont pas en reste : le Chocoland sera ouvert aux 5/10 ans, qui pourront, entre autres, ap-prendre à faire des cupcakes, des gâteaux. Par ces intermé-diaires, les visiteurs pourront donc renouveler leur vision du chocolat : savoir avec quoi l’allier, le cuisiner différem-ment, l’apprécier autrement. Bref, un véritable hommage à cet ingrédient magique.

Plus généralement, la quatrième édition du Bei-rut Cooking Festival, qui se tiendra au Pavillon royal du Biel également, rassemblera comme les années précé-dentes le meilleur de la cui-sine. Ces trois jours seront

un temps de dégustation et de découvertes, pour les amoureux de l’art culinaire. Ce festival rassemblera tous les secteurs de nourriture et de boissons, et permet aux détaillants d’exposer leurs produits, qu’ils soient biens alimentaires ou biens d’équi-pement (ustensiles, accessoi-res...). Tout comme le Salon du chocolat, il propose des cours de cuisine et de cock-tails, des démonstrations de célèbres chefs, des sessions de dégustation de vin, ou d’huile d’olive... Les visiteurs pourront y apprendre quelles sont les dernières tendances, comment présenter une as-siette, dresser une table ; ou encore faire signer leurs livres de recettes. Là également, les enfants auront droit à leurs propres activités.

Les amoureux de l’art culi-naire n’ont qu’à bien se tenir face à ces festivals organisés avec goût !
