As Fall weather approaches check out these
tips from our amazing Port Coquitlam Fire &
Emergency Services on what you can do to
prevent a fire in your home.
Space Heaters: If you use a space heater,
always keep it a minimum of 1 meter (3 ft)
away from anything
that can ignite.
Note: ensure the
cord is not across an
area you walk.
In the Kitchen: Never leave cooking meals
unattended. If a pan of food catches fire, put
on an oven mitt & slide a lid over it and turn
off the burner.
While it’s sometimes nice to
have a glass of wine with
dinner, make sure you don’t
cook if you are drowsy from
alcohol, medication, or even
if you’re just tired.
Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Ensure you have
smoke alarms installed on every level of your
home, especially inside each bedroom &
outside each sleeping area. Opt for a duo
service alarm with smoke & carbon monoxide
detection. Though these may be more
expensive, the overall investment is worth it.
Schedule a
reminder to check
your smoke alarms
each month, &
change the
batteries every 6
months aligning with daylight savings when
you change your clocks. Most fire alarms have
a 10 year life expectancy, so take note of the
install date & change them when needed.
Make sure everyone can hear the smoke
alarm. If you have hearing challenges, install a
fire alarm that has a visual warning option like
detectors from these local stores.

BREAK
The first 50 years of modern advertising was
based on the hard sell. The next 50 years was
persuasion through creativity & media. But as
advertising squeezed into the 21 century, it
was forced to shed its elbowing ways &
become a delicate dialogue. The goal is no
longer to triumph by weight, but to win by
influence. The Under the Influence podcasts
explore that critical shift. As we have all been
watching more movies lately, check out this
COVID Movie Podcast collection discussing
the influence of movie trailers, unseen
Hollywood Oscars campaigns & the art of
movie marketing. https://www.cbc.ca/

Aspiring journalist Copper Black is drawn into a high-profile Las Vegas murder investigation while juggling family, work, & boyfriend challenges.
Will’s journey takes him to far-flung & isolated communities as well as deep into Canada’s urban centres. From P.E.I. to the tobacco belt of southern Ontario, from the architectur-al mess that is Montreal to
the glorious jumble that is St. John’s, Will explodes the myths of who we are.
This series debut finds Detective Inspector Hulda Hermannsdottir of the Reykjavik Police targeted by a violent adversary who would prevent her from solving the murder of a Russian asylum seeker.

12 Guidelines for Seniors
1.) Talk to yourself. There are times you need expert advice. 2.) “In Style” are the clothes that still fit. 3.) You don't need anger management. You need people to stop making you angry. 4.) Your people skills are just fine. It's your tolerance for stupidity that needs work. 5.) The biggest lie you tell yourself is, “I don't need to write that down. I can remember it.” 6.) “On time” is when you get there. 7.) Even duct tape can't fix stupid - but it can muffle the sound. 8.) It would be wonderful if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes, then come out wrinkle-free & three sizes smaller. 9.) Lately, you've noticed people your age are so much older than you. 10.) Growing old should have taken longer. 11.) Aging may have slowed you down, but it hasn't shut you up. 12.) You still haven't learned to act your age, & hope you never will.
This is almost, kind of the same.
