GIANYAR - The visit of the Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya, proposed to the government of Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla for the implementation of visa-free for travelers from five countries. LOS ANGELES - The huge cuddly white robot in “Big Hero 6” could hardly be less like a typical Marvel superhero -- and yet the Michelin man-style star could be a sure winner for studio giant Disney.

The movie, to be released on Friday in the United States, is Disney’s first based on Marvel comic book characters since it bought Marvel Entertainment Inc. in 2009.

Set in fictional San Fransokyo, the Japanese-themed film tells the story of young Hiro Hamada, a robot-obsessed nerd who is devastated when his older brother Tadashi dies in an accident.

Baymax is the inflatable robot Tadashi was working on be-fore his death. He is designed to care for sick humans, which he promptly does for the depressed teenager.

Along with six friends, Hiro and Bymax embark on a danger-ous mission to hunt down the thief who stole Hiro’s latest creation: tiny microbots which can form themselves into any shape and be controlled telephathically.

Hiro’s friends are voiced by a star-studded cast, with Jamie Chung voicing for GoGo Tamago, Damon Wayans Jr for Wasabi, Genesis Rodriguez for Honey Lemon and T.J. Miller for Fred.

The movie is directed by Don Hall, whose past credits include “Winnie the Pooh,” and Chris Williams, who co-directed “Bolt.” It is produced in part by the team which won Disney’s first ani-mated Oscar with princess blockbuster “Frozen.”

The filmmakers submerged themselves in the world of manga, karate and kabuki theater to create “Big Hero 6,” and the cast is clearly proud of what they have made.

“It’s nice to see two very strong male Asian protagonists, characters, in an American production,” said Daniel Henney, who voices Tadashi and whose mother is American-Korean.

“It makes me very proud because for a long time I feel like we can be misrepresented at times in the media, and this movie is

not doing that.” At a roundtable discussion in Los Angeles before the film’s release, the cast underlined the strength of both its male and female characters. “It’s very empowering for little girls. I remember I was a Disney princess my whole life... I was one of them, I wanted to be a part of that world,” said Rodriguez.

“I hope that this world is a little bit more attainable for them. These kinds of skills are realistic for a girl to want to be like.”

The film also unashamedly takes the side of tech geeks. “These kids are not born with any superpowers, they’re just

born like any normal kid. But they are just very studious and they fall in love with science,” Rodriguez added.

“They have very curious minds... so I hope that inspires kids to want to be curious and to want to explore the science and technol-ogy and to want to create and invent something new,” she said.

The band of diminutive heroes eventually hunts down the evil thief, but not without some plot twists, and plenty of cute action involving the bumbling Baymax, voiced by Scott Adsit.

Audience in preview screenings have been won over -- the movie has a whopping 98 percent approval rating on film review site Rotten Tomatoes, while 87 percent of critics are positive.

“East meets West to immensely satisfying effect in the vibrant mash-up of an animated romp,” said the Hollywood Reporter.

Others were equally as glowing. “It’s a movie that’s as fun to watch as it is funny,” said the Washington Post. “(It) is fresh and inventive enough in every important way... to satisfy even the most jaded animation fan.”

The show aired for one season in 2004 before HBO opted to not bring it back for more episodes, with some critics saying it was ahead of its time — a concern shared by co-creator Michael Patrick King, Kud-row said.

“We were working on it and (King) went, ‘What if we’re too far ahead? That’s not good.’ I said, ‘What are we gonna do about it now? There will be other seasons

and then they’ll catch up.’”When Kudrow found out HBO was in-

terested in bringing back her comedy “The Comeback,” she says she was as surprised as everyone else.

“A year ago? Never would have thought,” said the actress in a recent in-terview.

They decided to do six episodes and pick up nine years later because the idea

of continuing as if no time had passed was “ridiculous”, she said.

In the new season, Valerie has hired some USC students to shoot a pilot for a reality show that she’s going to present to Andy Cohen for Bravo. In the years that have passed, she hasn’t worked much, just guest-starred on a crime drama, par-ticipated in student films and starred in an infomercial for red hair dye.

Cherish is often humiliated and embar-rassed by people around her who don’t take her seriously. Kudrow says some people are taking that way too personally.

“I was like, ‘I don’t know why you’re taking it so hard. She was OK. Didn’t you see she was OK? This is a person in denial. It’s a wonderful tool,” she laughed.

This unique competition was conducted by Grand Istana Rama Hotel on Friday, 7 November 2014, in which the hotel invited all journalists as the participants, for instance: editors, news report-ers, presenters, producers, cameramen, photographers, program directors, newscasters, and announcers.

All journalists not only challenged to arrange the flower, but they must create Merah Putih flag with Bambu Runcing picture on the flower pond. It is intended to remind us the important day

on 10 November 2014, Hari Pahlawan. The other special thing is all participants required to wear e hero apparel when they ar-ranged the flower.

The one who gets the highest score would be the winner in this competition. The judges in this Journalist Flower Arrangement Competition were from Gudang Garam, I Made Dwija, Budi Kurniawan as Executive Housekeeper of Grand Istana Rama Ho-tel, and I Made Resik as Florist of Grand Istana Rama Hotel.

KUTA - In Pool Bar at Grand Istana Rama Hotel, journalists were challenged to do the flower arrange-ment on a flower pond like a Florist usually does. Each round in the competition spent 4 minutes. During the 4 minutes, the judges gave points on the results of the latte art by the journalists based on Time/Speed, Overall Appearance, Neatness, and Creativity.

Kadek Wahyuni, 28, one of the artisans doubling as penjor accessories trader, is flooded with buyers. To supply the needs of the Galungan feast, she started mak-ing penjor ornaments 3 months ago. “To meet all the orders, I started making the ornaments last August and some people have already been buying,” she said, Saturday (Nov 8) at her stall at Kapal village.

Kadek, who has been selling for 5 years, also added that production has already risen sharply, reaching twice the normal amont. To cope with the high production demands, she has hired two craftsmen. For a medium-sized ornament, she can produce 10 pieces. Aside from Denpasar or Badung, her customers also come from other

areas such as Buleleng. This has also contrinuted to her increased production..

As for the price, a penjor orna-ment with a height of 1 meter was sold for 350,000, while the smallest size costs IDR 35,000. Other than penjor ornaments, the production of the sampian festoon, kolong-kolong and Balinese rice has also increased, at a comparable rate to that of the penjor ornament.

The blessing which Wahyuni, obtained was also experienced by another penjor ornament artisan from Kerobokan: Rai, 45, previ-ously worked as a construction worker, but has become a penjor ornament craftsman. He claimed that the profits obtained before Galungan were sufficient to meet his daily needs. (sos)

Bali PostDENPASAR - The subsidized fuel

price hike plan set this month, trig-gered a spike in consumption. Assistant Manager of External Relations for Regional Marketing Operation V of PT Pertamina (Persero), Heppy Wu-lansari, explained that consumption increased significantly within the past week. Premium fuel rose by 10 percent, while diesel fuel rose by 9 percent of the daily average.

“Rampant news on the price hike of the government subsidized fuel has an impact on the increase in subsidized fuel consumption in Bali. However, this increase can be anticipated by Pertamina,” said Heppy Wulansari as confirmed on Friday (Nov 7).

According to her, the stock and de-livery were safe in spite of the increase in fuel consumption. “We continue to coordinate with local government and apparatus to monitor the field so

that the conditions would not be taken advantage by the hoarding culprits,” she said.

She explained that Pertamina also continues to monitor the stock at petrol stations and asked them to have enough inventory of Delivery Orders (DO) so as not to run out of fuel. “We urge the public to work together to keep an eye on the subsidized fuel in the field, and if there is any indication of hoarding by the public they should report the case to the authorities because it is against the law,” she said.

Moreover, she added the hoarding was also hazardous to society because it was a flammable substance. Under nor-mal conditions, the Premium fuel needs in Bali reache 2,300 KL per day while the diesel fuel reached 625 KL per day. The subsidized fuel was served by 178 petrol stations supplied from the fuel terminal of Manggis and Pesanggaran owned by Pertamina. (kmb27)

MANGUPURA – Although still a month away, over the last few days, traditional markets in the cities and vil-lages started to get crowded because Balinese Hindus are beginning to make preparation to welcome the Galungan festivity. The feast, falling on December 17 commemorates the victory of dharma (goodness) over adharma (evil). The feast, celebrated every six months, is also a blessing for craftsmen and sellers of penjor accessories.

There also are reminders of India’s colonial past, including a narrow-gauge railway known as the “Toy Train” that makes a tourist run into the hills under power of a steam locomotive.

Visitors willing to make the extra pilgrimage to Sikkim, the Indian state to the north of West Bengal, where Darjeeling is located, can get a taste of Tibetan culture without visiting the Chinese-ruled region.

Here are tips for getting the most out of a trip to Darjeeling and nearby areas from Reuters, whose 2,600 journalists in all parts of the world offer visitors the best local insights.

The closest airport, Bagdogra, is 90 km (56 miles) from Darjeel-ing. Perched at an altitude of 2,134 metres (7,000 feet), Darjeeling is said to have derived its name from Dorje-ling, which means “land of the mystic thunderbolt”.

The best time to visit is October to November or February to April. It’s never too warm in Darjeeling and there is often a drizzle. Taxis ferrying tourists often jam the nar-row lanes, and cabs sometimes dash across the rail tracks that run alongside, causing drivers of the slow-moving “Toy Train” to sound a warning hoot.

The World Heritage railway, opened in 1881, is a tourist mag-net for a leisurely ride on narrow gauge tracks, offering splendid views of cloud-capped hillsides and people going about their daily routines.

Take the 8 a.m. joy ride from Darjeeling to Ghum, India’s high-est railway station at an elevation of 2,258 m (7,407 feet). The two-hour return journey (for 400 rupees or $7) includes stopovers at a rail museum and a spiral rail loop with panoramic vistas. It’s advisable to book tickets online before you visit.

Backpackers and budget travel-lers can take a room at the govern-ment tourist lodge, next door to St. Andrews, an Anglican church built in 1843. The well-heeled can spend their days at the Windamere, a heri-tage hotel that started as a boarding house for British tea planters in the 19th century. Room tariffs start at 9,500 rupees ($155) a night, with meals.

It also is possible to stay at some

DARJEELING, India - Darjeeling, for many people, means tea, but the eponymous hill resort nestled in the Himalayas in India’s northeast is also a gateway to spectacular views of the world’s third highest peak as well as a rare glimpse of snow leopards and red pandas.

of the tea plantations. One of the estates advertising rooms is the Glenburn Tea Estate & Boutique Hotel.

Mountain SightsCatch a glimpse of snow-capped

Mount Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest mountain with an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 feet). Hundreds of tourists visit Tiger Hill, 13 km (8 miles) from Darjeeling, for a magnificent view of the sunrise; some arriving 4 a.m. to beat the rush. Beware, though, the fickle weather often shrouds the mountain in a veil of fog.

For something more dependable, drop in at Glenary’s bakery for their signature cakes and chocolates. En-joy non-spicy continental and Chi-nese fare in the restaurant on the first floor where an average meal for two would cost about 500 rupees ($8). Try and get there early for dinner as service starts winding down at 9 p.m. in this early-to-bed town.

On the pedestrian Mall road, try on hand-knitted sweaters, browse souvenir shops and buy some of Darjeeling’s famous tea, plucked from the verdant estates that dot the hillsides.

Head to the Darjeeling zoo - tick-ets start at 40 Indian rupees (65 U.S. cents) - where the snow leopard and red panda are the pick of the lot.

Outside the Himalayan Moun-taineering Institute and museum, next door to the zoo, stands a memo-rial to Tenzing Norgay, the first man to scale Mount Everest along with Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953.

And for a spectacular view of the tea plantations, take a ride on the Darjeeling cable car ride (tickets start at 150 rupees or $2.50).

Kalimpong is a three-hour drive away, but on the way stop at Lov-ers’ Meet for a breathtaking view of the confluence of the Teesta and Rangeet rivers. Also take a break at Lamahatta and laze in a landscaped garden surrounded by fluttering Buddhist prayer flags. Try chicken momos or steamed dumplings served with pepper-hot sauce at the roadside stalls.

In Kalimpong, don’t miss Deolo Point for a panoramic view of the Himalayas. If you are in the mood for adventure, the town is situated at an altitude of 1,200 m (4,000 feet) and is a popular paragliding

and river-rafting destination. You also can see the imposing Mangal Dham temple, or mingle with novice monks playing football at Buddhist monasteries.

The Lonely Planet tourist guides listed Sikkim as the best region to travel to in 2014 (http://bit.ly/1ssPQSV). Foreign nationals need restricted-area permits to visit this northeastern Himalayan state bordering Tibet. Gangtok, the hill-top capital at an altitude of 1,676 m (5,498 feet), is a four-hour drive from Darjeeling.

MG Marg, Gangtok’s pedestrian-only main street and shopping dis-trict, is a tourist’s delight, featuring a range of restaurants and a plaza that is its cultural hub. Try the pastries at the Baker’s Cafe; the view is a definite plus.

Dozens of hotels, budget and luxury, line the streets next to MG Marg. City tours in the ubiquitous taxis, usually begin with the Ban Jhakri waterfall and picnic spot before moving on to the various monasteries that dot the hillsides.

The Enchey monastery, founded in 1840, is perhaps the most famous,

with the entrance flanked by hun-dreds of Buddhist prayer wheels and flags printed with lines from scripture.

At the Namgyal Institute of Tibe-tology, visitors can pore over one of the largest collections of Buddhist literature and artefacts. Monks light butter lamps and meditate at the Do-Drul Chorten pagoda complex next door.

Ganesh Tok is a temple-cum-viewpoint, and in case you missed it in Darjeeling, offers tourists another glimpse of Kanchenjunga. Gangtok also has its own cable car, a 10-minute ride that offers a panoramic view of the town below.

Tourists to Sikkim will benefit from a new airport near Gangtok that is set to begin operations be-fore 2016.

and stocks and study any possibility of fuel hoarding,” Komang Susila, chief of the Industry, Trade and Cooperatives Service of Jembrana.

The government has confirmed that the price of subsidized fuel will be increased in November although the exact rate of hike has yet to be finalized.

“We have decided to hike the price of subsidized fuel this month (No-vember),” Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil had said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Djalil had noted that the government would reallocate fuel subsidies to more productive sectors after considering their business objectives.

“That the subsidies do not reach their intended target is a concern for us, especially when assessing it from a business perspective. So we will reallocate them to more productive sectors,” the minister affirmed.

Bali PostAMLAPURA - The laboratory

test of water sampled at the Karan-gasem Municipality Waterworks (PDAM) taken from the area of Subagan village, Karangasem was declared positive to Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacterium. This was an-nounced by the Head of Karangasem Health Agency, IGM Tirtayana, Friday (Nov 7) in Karangasem. Tir-tayana said that the E coli bacterium was quite hazardous, especially for children. E. coli bacterium causes vomiting or severe diarrhea.

However, were the attacks of diarrhea and vomiting experienced by dozens of residents from various areas in Subagan village, Karan-gasem who treated in the Emergency Room at the hospital caused by the E. coli bacterium from the water of the PDAM or village water company?

Tirtayana did not dare to hazard a guess. To ascertain whether the diarrhea and vomiting were caused by E. coli bacterium from the water provided by the PDAM or village water company, further detailed stud-ies were required.. For example,, it had to be ascertained whether those suffering from diarrhea and vomit-ing had obtained their water of the PDAM or village water company.

His party in the Health Agency did not examine things in such detail, and did not interview the patients with diarrhea and vomiting about whether they had come in contact with water containing the E. coli. However, the Health Agency just took water samples from six locations at Sub-agan village. Four samples were taken from the water of PDAM and two other samples from the village water company. Water samples from

both sources were found positive to E. coli bacteria. “These bacteria will die and the water is safe to consume after it is boiled for about 15 minutes or until coming to a rolling boil,” said Tirtayana.

As reported previously, until Friday (Oct 31), a total 69 patients were sent to Karangasem Hospital due to vomiting. After that, 19 other vomiting patients also came to hospital on Monday (Nov 3) and 11 patients on Tuesday. They came from various regions such as Seraya, town of Amlapura, Abang and Ababi and some areas at Subagan village. At that time, the Karangasem Health Agency suspected the water of the PDAM to containe E. coli. Later, this was followed up by the taking of water samples which were tested.

The Director of PDAM Karan-gasem, I Gede T. Baktiyasa, said

that his party had the results of the laboratory tests of the water sample of the PDAM Karangasem carried out by the Health Agency at around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. It was recognized that from a total of six samples, namely four samples of water owned by the PDAM and two water samples owned by village water company, both samples were known to be positive to E coli with the POM value 38.

As a result, his party apologized because previously the water pipe of the PDAM from the spring of Embukan Tirtagangga leaked and broke due to excavations been done in the area of Path 11 project that was working on a bridge and revetment. “In the future, we do that the con-tractor to be more careful with pipes owned by the PDAM. We hope they will not get run over again, causing

the water pips to becomes dirty or gets contaminated,” he said.

Related to the water samples containing E. coli, he requested con-sumers of PDAM water to boil their water before consuming it. He also said they woudl take another water sample from the PDAM to be tested at the laboratory of the Health Agen-cy with whom it made cooperation all this time. The outbreak occured because the results of laboratory test of the PDAM water sample taken on 30 October had not been issued. However, added Baktiyasa, the water samples were taken by the Health Agency some time ago but the results was only issued last Saturday and not include the PDAM party. “We do not intend to defend ourselves, but I do not know why we are not involved in the taking of the water sample,” he said. He added that the success of Penglipuran, according to him, had spread to several other villages in Bangli. Some of them include Undisan, Guliang Kangin, Suter and several other vil-lages. According to Adnyana, the development of each site is adjusted to the uniqueness of the respective village.

“However, although the concept applied is the same as Penglipuran, the packaging is clearly different because each village has its own uniqueness and potential, including their local wisdom. In addition, the development is well done as it is or in accordance with the real conditions of the village,” he said.

Adnyana explained that Penglipuran tourism village, located in the north of the town of Bangli is not only recognized by foreign travelers but the uniqueness of this village had also been recognized nationally. Aside from winning some awards in 2013, this year the village won second place in a tourism competition, competing against more than 300 tourism villages in Indonesia. For the current development of Penglipuran, a local product -cemcem herbal drink, had been recognized nationally.

“Local people have also begun to establish home-stay busi-nesses. The home stay is not only enjoyed by local travelers, but also foreign travelers wishing to experience the night atmosphere of Penglipuran,” he said. (nik)

Mariano Rajoy said he expects “sanity” to return to northeastern Catalonia after the unofficial vote Sunday that is supposed to measure public support for secession from Spain. The consultation has been ruled unconstitutional by Spain’s judiciary.

Rajoy called on Catalonia’s leaders to begin talks “within the legal framework of the constitu-tion.” The prime minister said that because of its illegal status, the poll would be “neither a referendum nor a consultation nor anything of the sort, and it won’t have any effect at all.”

Meanwhile, an organization called Libres e Iguales (Free and Equal) that opposes the poll held protests in 55 Spanish cities, as

well as in Paris, Brussels and Luxembourg, according to Popular Party lawmaker Cayetana Alvarez de Toledo.

The group includes politicians, aristocrat Carlos Falco, and in-tellectuals such as author Mario Vargas Llosa — who holds dual Peruvian and Spanish citizenship. Several hundred people in Madrid listened to Vargas Llosa and oth-ers, who said they do not lend “any legitimacy to attempts to break up our country.”

Vargas Llosa, who won the No-bel Prize in literature in 2010, also described the poll as disrespectful of “the rule of law or the true will of the people.”

A protest in the Catalan city of Girona proceeded peacefully,

Alvarez de Toledo said. How-ever, one in Barcelona saw minor scuffles between pro- and anti-consultation supporters that the police broke up without making arrests.

Catalonia, with some 7.5 million inhabitants and Barcelona as its capital, is one of Spain’s wealthi-est regions.

A long-rumbling Catalan seces-sionist sentiment peaked during Spain’s economic downturn and amid dissatisfaction at the country’s refusal to allow the region greater autonomy and fiscal powers.

The Catalan initiative is Eu-rope’s latest secession attempt following Scotland’s indepen-dence poll in September that resulted in a “No” vote.

EINDHOVEN, Netherlands — Recently discovered remains of some of those on board Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 were flown back to the Netherlands on Satur-day, nearly four months after the passenger jet plunged out of the sky over eastern Ukraine.

The remains, in five coffins, arrived on board a military trans-port plane and were carried to waiting hearses in a solemn cer-emony at a military air base in the southern city of Eindhoven.

They were being taken to bar-racks in Hilversum where a team of experts is working to identify all 298 passengers and crew who were on board the flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was downed on July 17. Most of the victims were Dutch.

So far, 289 of the victims have been positively identified. On Mon-day, the Netherlands is holding a national commemoration service in Amsterdam for the victims. Hundreds of grieving relatives are expected to

attend, along with politicians and the Dutch king and queen.

Dutch investigators probing the exact cause of the crash say it was likely hit in midair by multiple “high-energy objects,” a preliminary con-clusion that some aviation experts say is consistent with a missile strike.

Dutch police are carrying out a separate criminal investigation into what happened. The head of the criminal investigation said the most likely scenario being inves-tigated is that the Boeing 777 was shot down from the ground.

Pro-Russian separatist rebels have always staunchly denied their involvement in bringing down the plane. Initial investigations on the crash site had to be called off because of battles raging nearby between government troops and rebel forces.

The air crash investigators recently announced plans to have the plane’s wreckage collected and returned to the Netherlands so that parts of the plane can be reconstructed to assist the inves-tigation.

LONDON - After European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi got his colleagues to sign up to a target for pumping money into the ailing euro zone economy, a raft of GDP reports are likely to show just why more help may be needed.

The ECB did not add to its arsenal of measures last week and is expected to wait and see the take-up of a second round of cheap loans being offered to banks in December before con-sidering anything further.

But after signs of discord, Draghi did secure unanimous agreement that the ECB balance sheet would “move towards the dimensions it had at the beginning of 2012” when it was about 1 tril-lion euros higher than now.

Economists seized on the word “towards”, which casts some doubt over whether it amounts to a hard target. And the ability of the ECB to swallow its objections to full quanti-tative easing remains in question.

This week sees a raft of third quarter GDP reports from the euro zone, which are unlikely to make comfortable reading. Spain has al-ready reported reasonable 0.5 percent growth on the quarter and few if any of its peers are likely to better that.

The currency bloc as a whole grew just 0.1 percent in the second quarter of the year and Germany contracted by 0.2 percent.

Hopes of a rebound have fizzled out with Europe’s largest economy struggling to eke out any growth to the point that it could be in reces-sion, on the technical measure of two successive quarters of decline, come Friday.

Reuters polling has a consen-sus forecast of 0.1 percent growth in the euro zone as a whole and for Germany. France may just outdo them, growing by 0.2 per-cent, while Italy is predicted to contract slightly again.

“It looks as if the euro zone and Germany have avoided a technical recession. But let’s be clear, the mere fact that something has not got worse is no reason to cheer,” economists at ING wrote in a note.

Paris and Rome have been pressing the EU to focus more on measures to boost growth rather than cut debt in order to prevent a s l ide back into

recession and to buy them time to push through structural eco-nomic reforms.

Greater government spending is arguably more likely to have a direct economic impact than mon-etary policy measures, which are like pushing on a piece of string while demand remains so low. Yet the country with the finances to spend more - Germany - will not entertain that argument.

That will be a topic for dis-cussion when leaders of the G20 economies meet in Australia at the end of the week, with the United States and others likely to renew their calls on Berlin to do more to boost growth.

The world’s major central banks are now facing in very different di-rections, a position that could cause stress in financial markets and the economies that underpin them.

October ’s U.S. jobs report showed the unemployment rate fell to a fresh six-year low of 5.8 percent, backing the Federal Reserve’s decision to wind up its bond-buying programme.

At the same time, the Bank of Japan has dramatically increased its pace of money creation, while the ECB agonises over whether to follow suit.

With Japan’s new policy gam-bit likely to push the yen lower still, and with the euro heading south versus the dollar thanks to the ECB’s efforts to reflate its economy, discussion of currency devaluation cannot be ruled out in Brisbane either.

“The ECB clearly wishes to position itself as a contender in the global ‘currency wars’ of competitive reflation, along-side the BoJ, with the aim of weakening the euro,” said Lena Komileva, chief economist at G+ Economics.

South Korea will not sit on its hands while a tumbling yen undercuts the country’s export competitiveness, its central bank chief said on Friday.

The Bank of England will produce its quarterly inflation report on Wednesday. With wage growth still largely absent and inflation dropping to just 1.2 per-cent in September, noises from within the BoE suggest that the timing of a first interest rate rise could be heading further over the horizon.

US Trade Representative Michael Froman said the pro-posed Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP) touted by China is “not the launch of a new organisation, it’s not the launch of a new FTA (free trade area).”

“It’s a reaffirmation of a long-term aspiration for the region that’s to be achieved through other ongoing negotia-tions,” he told reporters.

China has thrown its support behind the FTAAP idea in the lead-up to a regional summit hosted by Beijing, while the United States is pursuing a deal for its 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which ex-cludes China.

Some Chinese analysts and official media have cast the TPP as an attempt to balance China’s stunning economic and diplomatic rise.

A draft final communique of the Beijing-hosted summit prominently mentions the im-portance of FTAAP.

But Froman said the TPP remained Washington’s pri-

ority and that it would serve as a “building block” for the longer-term FTAAP.

“TPP of course is the major focus of our economic pillar of the rebalance to this region,” he said, referring to the Obama administration’s stated inten-tion to give greater attention to the Asia-Pacific area.

“And we certainly view TPP as our contribution to expanding trade and integrat-ing the region,” he said on the sidelines of the annual meet-ing of the 21-member Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) bloc.

The TPP discussions, how-ever, have run into snags amid resistance by some prospective members -- notably Japan -- to opening domestic markets too widely.

Officials once voiced hopes of concluding a deal by the end of last year, but secretive negotia-tions have dragged on.

Froman said recent talks have made “very significant progress”, but he refused to be drawn on a timetable for completing the

process.As for specific talks with

Japan, Froman said: “We have made progress at each one of these sessions but we’re not there yet; we’re not at a solution yet.”

The draft APEC summit com-munique calls for steps to be taken to “translate the FTAAP from a vision to reality”, and agrees to launch a “strategic study.”

But it avoided China’s calls for a “feasibility study”, which would have signified a faster track for the concept.

It also makes no mention of a 2025 target date for realising the FTAAP, which had been floated earlier.

Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post on Saturday quot-ed unnamed Chinese and US officials as saying Beijing had backed down on the wording after Washington objected.

China is using the summit as an opportunity to underline its growing clout, a trend that has frequently put it at odds with Washington on trade and other issues.

NEGARA - Since the past three weeks, the sizeable swarm of mon-keys came down from forest in the area of Pulukan village, Pekutatan. According to information of local residents, Saturday (Nov 8), the swarm more often hung out on the riverbank in the area of Pulukan and plantation of local residents. Even, they were also visible on the roof of people’s house.

Aside from Pulukan, the dog-sized monkeys were sometimes seen in the area of Pasar hamlet. This condition was recognized by one of the residents of Pekutatan, Nengah Suardana.

He said the guava tree of his brother living at Arca hamlet, Pulukan, was once visited by the monkey alleged to come down from the forest. “I do not know what this means. The swarm of monkeys has come down to the people’s settle-ment. Sometimes those monkeys are in the river, plantation and on the roof of people’s house. Actu-ally the Pekutatan village and Arca hamlet are far enough from the forest becoming their habitat,” said Suardana doubling as a member of the Jembrana Electoral Com-mission.

Suardana suspected the monkeys went out of the forest due to hot weather condition and shortage of food. “There is information telling that a resident was providing the monkey with oranges or mangoes and the monkeys were willing to take them,” he explained.

He said that his son had seen a fairly large monkey near the river-bank of Pekutatan. “In the past, no monkeys emerged around the loca-tion. I only suggested my son not to go near the monkeys because the

hungry monkeys can turn fierce and they are prone to attack. Moreover, the rabies case is now rampant,” he said.

According to his elder brother living at Arca hamlet, Pulukan, Wayan Ardika, there were monkeys around his house. For the time being, he said the arrival of those monkeys was not alarming but should be anticipated.

Meanwhile, some other residents suspected if those monkeys came out of the forest because the forest region was increasingly bare and many people encroached on the forests. Even, some people had started to build in forest areas of Pulukan.

The headman of Pulukan, Wayan Armawa, when asked for his con-firmation on Saturday afternoon claimed to have not heard if the monkeys started to go to people’s settlement in the region. “I’ve re-ally have not heard about it,” he explained.

Other than in the area of Pekuta-tan, the swarm of monkeys living in the forest of West Bali also began to get out and many of them hung out at the edge of the road.

The increasingly dry forest condition had caused a number of animals living in the protected forest to get out of their habitat in search of food. As seen along the road from Penginuman to Sumbersari, Melaya, hundreds of monkeys filled the roadside to look for food and the scraps of food discarded by road users. Meanwhile, other animals such as deer was also often found to cross the street and sat at roadside. They have been familiar to getting food from leftovers or the food given by the passerby on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road section. (kmb)

According to an economist from the Undiknas University, Prof. Gede Sri Darma, DBA, the shift of function experienced by the bale banjar was one of the forms of creative economies. The increasing function compared to the original function as a venue to hold customary activities into a business field was one of the efforts to increase the revenue of customary village.

“It is called one of the forms of the creative economy. Any space that can be monetized must be worked on optimally. However, it must not be used for any activities being contrary to religious teach-ings,” said Sri Darma.

He said the commercialization of bale banjar had occurred since

the past time. For example, the bale banjar of Teges located in Gianyar was functioned as a place of culinary activities, while Titih hamlet Denpasar utilized its bale banjar as a fruit market. “Yes, the basic function of bale banjar is intended for customary activities at particular time, but beyond that time it can be maximized for any activities that can generate revenue as well,” he said.

He argued that the function of bale banjar should be maxi-mized. In addition to customary activities, it could also be used as a source to generate revenue, so that the burden borne by resi-dents in the neighborhood could be slightly reduced. “Amidst the empowerment of the asset owned,

the hamlet residents should also maximize the existing assets, not only depend on the donations of migrant residents,” he said.

According to him, the main function of bale banjar was still running, such as for toddle care activities, meeting of residents, preservation of Balinese gamelan activities, dance, Utsawa Darma-gita (psalmodic festival) and so on. So, arguably the bale banjar has a very strategic function for the people of Bali.

“One of the biggest political events such as the general election can succeed in Bali due to the ex-istence of the hamlet system along with the bale banjar,” he said.

It was said the polling station (TPS) could easily be made at the bale banjar as it could be transformed into a polling station for the benefit of the election. Similarly, the voter data collection should be carried out in a simple manner by submitting to the board of the relevant hamlet. Hamlet of-ficers knew better about their com-munity and the migrants living in the hamlet area. (kmb27)

As the president of Indonesia, this would be his first time participating in an international event that will see attendees like the United States President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President Jokowi, who is the for-mer governor of Jakarta, replaced Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono fol-lowing his victory in the presidential election on July 9.

The Director of the Asia-Pacific and Africa Inter-Regional Coopera-tion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arto Suryodipuro, said that President Jokowi is scheduled to deliver a speech on Indonesia’s economic vision for the next five years at the APEC summit.

“Mr. President will highlight the importance of economic integration and connectivity, which is in line with the APEC’s theme in Beijing,” he stated.

After the APEC summit, President Jokowi will head to Myanmar to attend the 25th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Nay Pyi Taw on November 12 and 13.

According to the Director General of ASEAN of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, President Jokowi will also attend an ASEAN meeting with partner coun-tries and organizations at the summit. These include India, Japan, the United Nations, Australia, East Asian coun-tries, the United States, China, and the ASEAN Plus Three countries (Japan, China and South Korea).

Wesaka Puja pointed out that is-sues related to maritime and ASEAN development post 2015 will be the primary subjects of discussion at the summit.

“Under Myanmar’s chairmanship, the focus will be on issues related to the unity of ASEAN member states and building a prosperous commu-nity,” he added.

The third summit that President Jokowi will attend this month is the G-20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia. Here, he will deliver a speech on the bureaucracy and economic reforms in Solo, Central Java, and the Jakarta Capital Region.

“President Jokowi has been spe-

cially asked to talk about his experi-ences in bureaucracy and economic reforms during his term as the mayor of Solo and the governor of Jakarta,” the Director of Economic and Envi-ronment Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Toferry Soetikno, affirmed.

Moreover, while seeing off the president at Halim Perdanakusumah Airport in Jakarta on Saturday, Vice President Jusuf Kalla said, “These meetings are important with regard to our national interests.”

He added that at the meetings, Indo-nesia will seek to increase investment in infrastructure development projects in various regions in the country.

Indonesia is seeking significant in-vestment to carry out various develop-ment programs, including the sea toll project that will help to create world-wide maritime axis as envisioned by President Jokowi.

The policy of transforming Indone-sia into a maritime axis has attracted the attention of the leaders of some friendly countries, according to Presi-dent Jokowi.

AntaraJAKARTA - The Jakarta ad-

ministration plans to prepare a technology-based complaint service program to invite public participation in reporting capital city problems.

“Any can report anything that happens in Jakarta using an An-droid-based cellphones,” acting governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said here on Sunday.

He said he would not limit reports that people can submit, including about illegal car park-ing, street vendors, congestion, accidents, garbage and neighbor-hood security problems.

The acting governor who is often called by his nickname Ahok said he hoped community mem-bers would play a role in making the city to become better.

“It is the people who really know what happen in the city and so we are expecting their reports. It is all for our progress,” he said.

He said the system would be set up based on volunteers’ idea who have so far monitored Ahok’s program through social media.

“The system is free of charge and a deal has been made with regard to what the service would be like in the future,” he said.

In connection with that he said the would conduct a training program and test the system in December before its launching in January.

“It would be easier to monitor village and sub-district heads start when they become managers later. With the system their performance will be known,” he said.

AntaraJAKARTA - Indonesia has not

yet decided whether or not to join the ASEAN Infrastructure Bank proposed by China. “Indonesia is the only ASEAN member country that has not signed the papers. So, let us just wait. Let us see what Pak Jokowi (the President) will offer China before signing an agreement to join the Infrastructure Bank,” cabinet secretary Andi Widjajanto said.

He added that Indonesia’s par-ticipation needed further discus-sion. “Yes, we want to join, but with conditions. We will have to just wait for the outcome of the discussion there (in China) to know what those conditions are,” he noted.

He said, “we will not just ac-cept the proposal. The President’s priority is national interest. So, he will place certain conditions before joining the ASEAN Infrastructure Bank.”

Keniten Village of Ngawi District in East Java Province on Friday evening caused damage to hun-dreds of houses in the area.

The disaster also uprooted sev-eral trees in the road that connect-ed the village to other areas. The villagers have worked together to repair the damaged houses.

“The rain poured heavily. I heard rumbling sound of strong winds that occurred fast,” Jiran, a resident, said on Saturday (Nov 8).

According to Jiran, it was the first rain that poured after the current long dry season. The winds have damaged the roof of

his house.“We panicked and got out of

the house immediately when the strong winds occurred. We realized the wind that had just occurred is a whirlwind,” Jiran said.

The disaster only damaged roof of several houses. No build-ing collapsed due to the strong winds.

The local people said total houses which were damaged reached 180 of which 10 houses suffered average damage and the rest are minor ones.

The residents hoped that the local administration would extend assistance for repairing the dam-aged houses.

President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi as he is better known, is set to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2014 to be held in Beijing on November 10 and 11.

Matthew Miller and Kenneth Bae arrived late Saturday at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state. U.S. officials said the pair flew back with James Clapper, the director of national intelligence. Clapper was the highest-ranking American to visit Pyongyang in more than a decade.

Family members met both men with hugs as they emerged from their plane. “Thank you all for supporting me, lifting me up, not forgetting me,” Bae told reporters shortly after his return to the United States. He thanked the North Korean government for let-ting him come home.

“It’s been an amazing two year. I learned a lot, I grew a lot, I lost a lot of weight,” said Bae, a Korean-Amer-ican missionary with health problems. Asked how he was feeling, he said: “I’m recovering at this time.”

His family has said he suffers from diabetes, an enlarged heart, liver prob-lems and back pain. Neither Miller nor his family made an immediate public statement.

It was the latest twist in the fitful relationship between the Obama administration and the young North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, whose approach to the U.S. has shifted back and forth from defiance to occasional conciliation. And it was an unusual

role for Clapper, a retired general who doesn’t typically do diplomacy.

“It’s a wonderful day for them and their families,” President Barack Obama said at the White House earlier Saturday. “Obviously we are very grateful for their safe return. And I appreciate Director Clapper doing a great job on what was obviously a challenging mission.”

A senior Obama administration of-ficial said the president approved the mission last week and U.S. officials spent the next several days planning the trip. Clapper spent roughly a day on the ground and met with North Korean security officials but not with Kim, the official said aboard Air Force One as Obama prepared to head to Beijing.

Clapper went with the sole purpose of bringing home the two detainees, although the U.S. anticipated that other issues of concern to the North would come up during Clapper’s discussions on the ground, the official said. “It was not to pursue any other diplomatic opening,” said the official, who wasn’t authorized to comment by name and demanded anonymity.

The U.S. had considered sending someone from outside government to retrieve the detainees, the official said, but suggested Clapper after the North

Koreans indicated in recent weeks that they would release the detainees if the U.S. sent a high-level official from Obama’s administration. He said the U.S. settled on Clapper because of his role as a security official, rather than a diplomat

Analysts who study North Korea said the decision to free Bae and Miller from long prison terms prob-ably was a bid by that country to ease pressure in connection with its human rights record. A recent U.N. report documented rape, torture, execu-tions and forced labor in the North’s network of prison camps, accusing the government of “widespread, systematic and gross” human rights violations.

North Korea seems worried that Kim could be accused in the Inter-national Criminal Court, said Sue Mi Terry, a former senior intelligence analyst now at Columbia University. “This human rights thing is showing itself to be an unexpected leverage for the US,” she said. Bae and Miller were the last Americans held by North Korea.

Bae was serving a 15-year sentence for alleged anti-government activi-ties. He was detained in 2012 while leading a tour group to a North Korea economic zone.

BERLIN — Germany is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with concerts, speeches and the release of balloons.

The night of Nov. 9, 1989, brought to a climax the fight for freedom by East Germans against the communist regime.

Formal festivities began with a trumpet call at 10 a.m. (0900 GMT) Sunday, evoking the biblical trumpets that brought down the wall of Jericho.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who grew up in East Germany, will deliver a speech and place a rose in one of the few remaining sections of the Wall to commemorate those who died trying to escape to the west.

On Saturday, she said the fall of the Wall showed that “the human longing for freedom can’t be suppressed forever.”

TORONTO — A Toronto man is offering a free round-the-world air ticket to the right woman. But restrictions apply. You must be named Elizabeth Gallagher and have a Canadian passport.

Jordan Axani, 28, said he and his then girlfriend, named Elizabeth Gallagher, booked heavily discounted round-the-world air tickets in May, but their relationship has ended and he doesn’t want her ticket to go to waste. He told The Associated Press on Saturday that the ticket has a strict no-transfer policy, but since passport information was not required when booking, it can be used by any Canadian woman named Elizabeth Gallagher.

“I just want to see the ticket go to good use and for someone to experience a lot of joy,” said Axani, speaking by telephone from his Toronto home.

Axani posted the ticket offer Monday on the popular Reddit social media website, and has since received thousands of emails, including about 15 to 30 from actual Elizabeth Gallaghers with Canadian passports.

“More interesting, there are hundreds of Canadians who are interested in changing their name to Elizabeth Gallagher,” Axani said with a chuckle. “It was absolutely out of control, thousands of emails, people around the world sharing their incredible stories of travel.”

He wrote in his Reddit post that he is “not looking for anything in return” and that the woman who uses the extra ticket can choose to either travel with him or take the ticket and head out on her own.

“Having said that, I will buy the first round of vino at JFK upon departure,” added Axani. In his online posting, Axani said his other re-quirements for his prospective travel partner are that she be “sane, smart and (hopefully) interesting,” have a desire to travel and be ready for “a rather spontaneous life experience,” and be willing to pay the good deed forward to someone else.

Axani said that after the breakup he deferred all other planning for the trip, such as making hotel reservations.

Axani, who works for an international real estate development and advisory firm, said the tickets were purchased for a couple of thousand dollars, but their cash value today is around Canadian $5,000-$7,000 (US$4,400-$6,200).

PRAGUE - Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova put the Czech Republic on the brink of the Fed Cup title with victories on the opening day of the final against Germany on Saturday.

The hosts roared into a 2-0 lead, leaving them requiring just one more victory on Sunday to seal their country’s third victory in the Fed Cup, the premier team tournament in women’s tennis, in the last four seasons.

Playing in front of a capacity 13,000 crowd at the O2 Arena in Prague, the home favourites were given a flying start when inspired Wimbledon champion Kvitova, who led the Czechs to the title in 2011 and 2012, defeated Andrea Petkovic 6-2 6-4.

Safarova then downed Angelique Kerber 6-4 6-4, prevailing after a see-saw match against the Germany’s top-ranked player. It left Germany facing an uphill task to win the Cup for the first time since Steffi Graf led them to the 1992 title.

“I couldn’t ask for more than to be leading after the first day. They won in straight sets,

which is excellent,” Czech captain Petr Pala said. “But we have to be ready again for tomorrow.” Kvitova, a winner of three titles in 2014 including a second Wimbledon crown, set the tone swiftly, gaining an early break against Petkovic and tak-

ing the first three games en route to winning the opening set.

Petkovic, though, showed fight, breaking Kvitova at the start of the second set before sur-rendering the advantage in the next game. Causing Kvitova problems throughout the set, Petkovic levelled the score at 3-3 but the Czech hit a pair of deft drop shots to keep herself ahead.

“(Kvitova) was playing amazingly well. I wasn’t playing badly, she was just so much bet-ter,” Petkovic said. “The main difference was she served better and returned better. She put a lot of pressure on my serve.” A double fault from Petk-ovic set up match point for Kvitova, who quickly closed out the match.

Kvitova and Safarova both said they battled nerves as they went into their first finals matches on home soil since the Czechs won the trophy in 2012.

“It is a privilege to play at home but also pres-sure,” Safarova said. “I’m happy that Petra and I were the stronger ones on the court today.”

Safarova subdued Kerber on her third match point with a forehand passing shot to seal her third break of the set after the German had squandered leads of 2-0 and 4-2.

With the reverse singles and doubles matches scheduled for Sunday, Kvitova has the first op-portunity to seal a Czech victory when she takes on Kerber.

City dropped eight points behind unbeaten Chelsea by drawing 2-2 at lowly Queens Park Rangers thanks to two equalizers from Sergio Aguero, who is the league’s top scorer with 12 goals.

Surprisingly, it is Southampton that is pushing Chelsea after 11 games, with a 2-0 win over Leicester leaving the south-coast club in second place and four points off the lead. Chelsea, though, looks unstoppable.

Diego Costa scored the 67th-minute winner at Anfield, capping a Chelsea comeback that started in the 14th when Gary Cahill canceled out a deflected opener from Emre Can.

“In the second half, we showed something new, which is to be 1-1 at Anfield and not accept the result as a good result and play to win,” Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said. “I think we were very impressive.”

JOHANNESBURG - A late replacement must be found to host the 2015 African Nations Cup or the continent’s showpiece soccer tournament faces being called off after Morocco rejected an ultima-tum to go ahead with the event in January.

Fears over the spread of the Ebola virus saw Morocco reiterate its stance that the 16-team tourna-ment, due to be played from Jan. 17-Feb. 8, should be postponed. The Confederation of African Foot-ball (CAF) refused to entertain a

change of dates and must now find an alternate host as quickly as pos-sible or face annulling the event at great financial cost.

CAF have approached other African countries to step in as an emergency replacement but have so far received no public expressions of support.

A meeting of African football’s governing body in Cairo on Tues-day now faces the prospect of having to cancel their gala event, unless they have a solution in their back pocket. “We will not be mak-ing any statements until after the meeting makes a final decision,”

CAF media director Junior Binyam told Reuters.

A risky gamble to call Moroc-co’s bluff looked to have backfired on Saturday as the country’s sport minister repeated a fear the tourna-ment could spread Ebola.

“This decision is motivated mainly by the medical risks that would put this virus on the health of our fellow Africans,” Mohamed Ouzzine said in a statement.

In addition to health concerns, the statement said, Morocco’s decision was also “motivated by humanitar-ian reasons since it is our respon-sibility to welcome all guests and

support-ers in the best conditions in accordance with the culture and hospitality of Moroccan traditions”.

Tourist IndustryMorocco is concerned that sup-

porters from west Africa converging on the country for the tournament could bring with them the deadly virus and put at risk their impor-tant tourist industry. Global health authorities are struggling to contain the world’s worst Ebola epidemic since the disease was identified in

1976 and cases have reached as far as the United States and Spain.

Morocco also insisted they could host the tournament later, highlighting that CAF had back-to-back Nations Cups in 2012 and 2013 when it switched from hosting the event in even to odd years and could reverse the process in 2016 and 2017.

Bayern’s Thomas Mueller applauds after the German first division Bundesliga soccer match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich in the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany, Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014.

Mueller hat trick helps Bayern beat Frankfurt 4-0Freiburg, Bayer Leverkusen was held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by visiting Mainz, Augsburg beat promoted Paderborn 3-0 and Co-logne won 4-3 at Hoffenheim.

Werder Bremen defeated fel-low struggler Stuttgart 2-0 in the late game. Sebastian Proedl’s 30th-minute header was followed by a wonderful strike in off the post by Fin Bartels in the 58th.

Bremen kept a clean sheet for the first time in the league this season and moved out of the bottom place now occupied by Borussia Dortmund ahead of its game Sunday against Mo-enchengladbach.

Frankfurt made an encour-aging start against the league leader but Bayern’s sheer qual-ity ensured what transpired to be a comfortable victory. “The whole world is finding it tough to get something from Bayern,” Frankfurt midfielder Marco Russ said.

Ribery played a one-two with Robert Lewandowski before cut-ting the ball back for Mueller, who scored at the second attempt, with his right knee, after his initial effort was blocked on the line by Bastian Oczipka. Mueller thought he’d scored again shortly afterward, only for the effort to be pulled back for offside.

Frankfurt finished the first half strongly and Alexander Meier forced a good save from Manuel Neuer in the 41st.

The home side also started the second half courageously, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Mueller claimed his second. Philipp Lahm played the ball over the top and Ribery squared it for Mueller to shoot inside the far post. He completed his hat trick minutes later, when Mario Goetze helped the ball on after a Ribery throw in.

Bayern’s three substitutes were all involved in the last goal. Arjen Robben ran at the home defense and was thwarted by Frankfurt keeper Felix Wied-wald before he played it back to Sebastian Rode. Shaqiri then deflected Rode’s effort past the helpless goalkeeper.

“The fans were with us and we delivered a good game. It’s a shame that the score was so high,” Frankfurt’s U.S. interna-tional defender Timmy Chandler said.

LONDON — Chelsea passed another major test of its Premier League title credentials on Saturday, beating Liverpool 2-1 away to maintain a fierce pace at the top of the standings that defending champion Manchester City cannot live with.

Tuesday.His midweek selection was criti-

cized as he appeared to prioritize the clash against Chelsea, and the gamble looked like it could pay off as Liver-pool took the lead when Can’s long-range strike deflected in off Cahill.

Chelsea equalized with a goal that required confirmation from goal-line technology, with Cahill blasting a shot from close range that goalkeeper Simon Mignolet saved before falling back over the line with the ball in his hands.

Costa’s winner came when he pounced on the rebound after Cesar Azpilicueta’s shot was parried out by Mignolet.

City fell behind at Loftus Road in the 21st when Charlie Austin converted from Mauricio Isla’s cross. Austin earlier had two goals disal-lowed, one for offside and one after scoring directly from a mishit free kick by goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Hart accidently kicked the ball twice before Austin found the net, and rules state a player cannot touch the ball twice successively from a free kick.

Aguero equalized after brilliantly controlling a long pass from Eliaquim Mangala, but an own goal from Martin Demichelis in the 76th restored QPR’s

lead. Argentina striker Aguero scored again seven minutes later, rounding Robert Green before beating four players on the line attempting to block his shot.

“Aguero had all the QPR defense in trouble whenever he had the ball,” Pellegrini said, while QPR manager Harry Redknapp was left ruing his side’s inability to hold on for victory. “I really felt at 2-1 we would go on and win the game,” Redknapp said. “You can’t relax when they have got so many quality players in the team.”

United earned a much-needed three points over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford thanks to Mata, who struck a deflected shot beating goal-keeper Julian Speroni four minutes after coming on as a replacement for Adnan Januzaj in the 63rd. But it was another underwhelming performance from Louis van Gaal’s team, which started with a makeshift defense that had midfielder Daley Blind and 19-year-old Paddy McNair at center back with four alternative options injured or suspended.

The victory — United’s first in four attempts — saw it overtake fierce rival Liverpool in the standings. Southamp-ton continued its formidable start to the season courtesy of two goals in five minutes from Shane Long at St.

Mary’s. The Ireland striker, a substitute for Sadio Mane who had replaced him in the starting lineup, entered the game without a Premier League goal for South-ampton since his offseason transfer from West Brom.

But he broke the deadlock in the 75th, curling a neat left-footed strike beyond Kasper Schmeichel, before finishing clinically past the Leicester goalkeeper for his second.

“It was difficult against a team who had very good organization in defense,” Southampton manager Ronald Koeman said, adding that it was a tough decision to replace Long with Mane in the starting lineup. “Sometimes Shane is not happy. Sometimes Sadio is not happy. It is a good reason to not be happy. Shane made the difference in the second half.”

“The fans were with us and we delivered a good game. It’s a shame that the score was so high,” Frankfurt’s U.S. interna-tional defender Timmy Chandler said.

Chelsea beats Liverpool as City drops more pointsAssociated Press

PadangbaiIBP

AMLAPURA - Padangbai is developed into a nature and cultural tourist attraction at the same area as the de-velopment of Candidasa tourist resort situated at Padang-bai Village, Manggis Subdistrict, Karangasem. It is about 25 km from the city of Amlapura, 13 km from Candidasa tourist resort, and about 31 km from Denpasar. At this location lies a harbor giving the access to sea transporta-tion to Lombok - NTB. The name Padangbai got influ-ence from the Dutch language during the colonial period.

Formerly, it was known as Teluk Padang. It is a white sandy bay protected from the solid black rock. Because of its location, the undersea life is well maintained. The attraction owned by Padangbai includes the clean and thick white sandy beach that can be used as an appropriate place for sun bathing or swimming in the sea. Beauty of the underwater scenery is excellent for diving and snor-keling as retaining various types of coral reefs and the ornamental fish are very beautiful. In this place, there is also an exotic blue lagoon always becoming the target of diving tourists.

Golden State center Andrew Bogut dominated the glass in Howard’s absence, pulling down 18 rebounds. James Harden led the Rockets (6-1) with 22 points, and point guard Isaiah Canaan had 21.

At San Antonio, Anthony Davis scored the game-winning basket and finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds to help the New Or-leans Pelicans hold off the Spurs 100-99.

The Spurs went on a 15-4 run with Tony Parker and Tim Duncan on the bench to take a 99-98 lead. Danny Green capped the run with three free throws with 12 seconds remaining after he was fouled by Eric Gordon on a wild 3-point at-

tempt as the shot clock was about to expire. Tyreke Evans had 18 points, including buzzer-beating shots in the second and third quarters, and Jrue Holiday had 15 points and 11 assists.

Parker scored 28 points, Manu Ginobili added 17 points, Green had 16 and Duncan had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Milwaukee’s Brandon Knight converted a three-point play with 1.1 seconds remaining to rally the Bucks to a 93-92 win over Memphis to hand the Grizzlies their first loss of the season after six consecutive victories.

Memphis guard Mike Conley was fouled with 8 seconds remain-ing, but missed the first free throw

and made the second to make it 92-90. Zach Randolph had 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Marc Gasol scored 18 for Memphis (6-1), which was off to the best start in franchise history. The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Portland Trail Blazers 106-102 after J.J. Redick scored 30 points and Blake Griffin added 23.

Chris Paul added 22 points and 11 assists, Jamal Crawford had 20 points in his first start of the season, and DeAndre Jordan grabbed 14 rebounds. Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 25 points.

In other games, Dwyane Wade had 25 points and eight assists, and Chris Bosh scored 24 as the Miami Heat held on in the final minutes to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 102-92, the Boston Celtics defeated the Chicago Bulls 106-101, the Washington Wizards downed the Indiana Pacers 97-90 and the At-lanta Hawks were 103-96 winners over the Brooklyn Knicks.

AntaraNGAWI - A whirlwind that hit

President Jokowi makes first trip abroadAntara

JAKARTA - Joko Widodo departed for China on Saturday, marking his first tour abroad since his inauguration as the president of Indonesia on October 20.

(kmb27)

Bale Banjar starts to be commercialized Bali Post

DENPASAR - The function of bale banjar or village meeting hall, especially in urban areas, begins to shift. Formerly, it was used to hold various customary activities. But today, it has been commercialized for the space of entrepreneurs. In urban areas, the bale banjar has some economic functions. Some hamlet functions it as the office of Rural Credit Agency (LPD) or cooperatives, while others use it for the building of pre-school education (kindergarten).

(kmb27)

“Now, we’re still implementing the visa on arrival. So, my suggestion for the next year is to increase the tourist visits by providing free visa facility for travelers from five countries, such as China, Japan, Korea, Russia and Australia,” he said.

He added, specifically for Chinese travelers, the plan was inseparable from the status of the country as one of the countries having the largest population in the world. More importantly, all this time China had owned a very high economic growth. “Our largest projection is China because it has a high economic growth,” he said.

It was said the visa-free facility would be a convenience for foreign travelers to Indonesia. He stated that such policy would take effect in January 2015. “We target the number of foreign tourist arrivals in 2015 will reach 10

million people,” he revealed. On the occasion, he also revealed that the number of

travelers visiting Indonesia in general was much less compared to the visit to the neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Thailand. Indonesia was only visited by about 8 million, while Malaysia was visited by 26 mil-lion, Singapore (15 million) and Thailand (28 million). He disclosed the border-crossing foreign travelers in Malaysia reached 60-80 percent. “As a far more interesting country, we should also enjoy this border-crossing visit. Moreover, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore are within the same region as Indonesia,” he said.

Furthermore, he delivered that many challenges and obstacles were faced by tourism sector. The main prob-lem was the matter of infrastructure. Surely this could

not be resolved alone. Tourism relied on transportation, commonly known as travel and transportation. The trans-portation determined tourism because people traveling used transportation. “Based on the travel and tourism index, we are ranked 70th. Our foremost weakness lies in the tourism infrastructure where we are dependent on transportation,” he added.

Specifically for the improvement of Indonesian tourism marketing, he wanted to maximize the digital marketing, such as through website, online television and others. “In addition, an important principle to keep in mind is ‘identify yourself and your competitor. After that, you can win. Well, similar principle also applies in tourism. First of all, identify the strength of our tourism, and then know the strength of your competitor,” he said
