NEW YORK - Bette Midler is planning her first tour in a decade as the stage legend releases a new album of covers of her favorite girl groups from the 1950s and 1960s.

Midler on Monday announced 22 concerts at arenas across North America starting on May 8 in Hollywood, Florida. Promoters said she would also perform in Britain with dates to be determined.

The 68-year-old, known for top-charting, tear-jerking ballads such as “The Rose” and “Wind Beneath my Wings,” unveiled the tour a day before she releases her 25th album, “It’s the Girls!”, a tribute to girl group music to which she listened as a child.

The album features versions of some of the era’s most recognizable -- and frequently covered -- hits, including

The Supremes’ “You Can’t Hurry Love,” The Ronettes’ “Be My Baby” and The Chordettes’ “Mr. Sandman.”

Midler said that during the 1950s and 1960s girl groups were “putting their stamp on pop music,” citing the lasting influence of backup singers who provided the harmonies.

“They say behind every great man, there’s a great woman. Well, I think that behind every great woman, there should be at least two other women singing and dancing in perfect unison,” Midler wrote on her web-site.

Midler said she sang some of the harmonies herself but also brought in backing vocalists, whose work she praised as vital.

Midler said that she struggled to pick just 17 songs for the album and initially had chosen nearly 50 tunes she wanted to cover.

The tour is her first since her “Kiss My Brass” concerts around North America in 2003 and 2004 and Australia in 2005, in which Midler -- often known by her stage name The Divine Miss M -- performed both her hits and Broadway mainstays.

Now Hollywood is battling to win back its title.

“Film audiences often think of California as the home of the film and television industry,” said a recent report by Film LA, which hands out filming permits in the West Coast city which is home to Tinseltown.

But, it added: “Today this belief is rooted more in history than in fact with respect to feature films.”

“We outsourced one of our most beloved commodities,” added Tom Nunan, who teaches at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Tele-vision and is the founder of Bull’s Eye Entertainment, a production company.

Over the last 15 years, film production has slumped by nearly 50 percent in California, once the cradle of the world’s biggest film industry.

Last year, the vast western US state played host to only eight per-cent of the biggest 25 film produc-tions of the year, excluding animated movies.

The new “Star Wars” movie is being shot in London, Pierce Brosnan’s latest crime thriller “No-vember Man” was filmed in Zagreb, while French director Luc Besson went to Taiwan to make “Lucy” with Scarlett Johansson.

The productions are huge money-spinners for the cities and countries

which host them: last year the 108 biggest films generated some $7.6 billion in local spending and tens of thousands of well-paid jobs, accord-ing to Film LA.

And that goes without counting thousands of hours of TV program-ming: last year 21 of 23 major TV shows were made outside of California.

Canada has led the way in attract-ing film and program makers, throw-ing down the gauntlet by offering tax credits worth some 40 percent of a movie’s budget.

“We started to get used to the idea that if you want to get it done, you have to do it in Canada,” said Nunan.

The Canadian example was rap-idly followed and imitated by some 40 US states and a dozen or so coun-tries, even if in reality most major film shoots are shared between about 10 or so key locations or countries around the world.

Tax breaks are not enough: you also have to offer costume design-ers, set makers, make-up artists and all the other craftspeople trained to the high standards demanded by a Hollywood production.

The United States remains the country with the biggest major pro-ductions (70 out of 108 in a survey last year), ahead of Canada (15) and the United Kingdom (12). France hosted one.

In terms of cities, London is at the top of the global league table, cur-rently hosting eight of the 10 biggest movies at its state-of-the-art studios like Pinewood. It is followed by Van-couver, New York and Paris.

Even within the US, California lags behind Louisiana, which played host to 18 of the 108 biggest films last year. New York and Georgia are also snapping at the Golden State’s heels.

The Big Apple notably attracted 29 major TV shows last year, against

only seven a decade previously, highlighting the effectiveness of its tax breaks strategy.

In a bid to regain the initiative California tripled its tax credits this year for filmmakers, to $330 million per year compared to $100 million per year previously.

The strategy has immediately borne fruit: in the third quarter of 2014 TV production in the City of Angels surged by 31 percent year-on-year.

“While we are still trying to reclaim our share of television pro-duction, we’re encouraged,” said the head of Film LA, Paul Audley, announcing the new figures.

“With the new tax credit taking effect next July, we see strong po-tential for growth in local TV work ahead,” he added.

Nunan underlined that, despite the gloomy figures, Hollywood remains at the heart of the global show business industry.

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles famously calls itself the Entertainment Capital of the World. But the reality is, many filmmakers have long since fled to cheaper locations in London, New York, Canada and elsewhere.

According to observations over the past few days it seems that mischievous actions are be-ing carried out by bus or urban transport service drivers, work-ing in tandem. Apparently, the drivers carry out their mischief on the Batubulan highway, just across the terminal.

After a bus hangs out for a few minutes on the roadside, another bus arrives. The first bus departs towards the town of Gianyar. Meanwhile, the newly arrived bus then oc-cupies the hangout place for a few minutes.

Similar measures were also taken by some unscrupulous drivers of Isuzu urban transport because they were taking turns waiting for passengers at the edge of Batubulan highway. In fact Batubulan terminal, located less than 100 meters away was not overcrowded

Negara (Bali Post)—The recent boat theft case in the

area of Nusantara Fishery Port (PPN) Pengambengan disturbed the local fishermen. Last week, a fiberglass boat worth tens of millions of rupi-ahs moored around the harbor, was stolen.

On Sunday (Nov 2), the victim, boat owner, Deddy Sugiarto, 30, admitted to fret over the boat theft which has not yet been resolved. His boat vanished on Friday morning (Oct 31) when he was about to go out to sea. This resident of Puana hamlet, Tegalbadeng village was accustomed to mooring his black and red fiberglass boat around the port area. Since the harbor had a dredging project going on, many small boats were moored outside the stone break-water on the west side of the port. One

of them was his boat. “Actually, it had only been moored for about two hours after returning from the sea when it vanished,” said Sugiarto.

He suspected the perpetrator had already targeted his boat because the other boats were still moored nearby. In his fiberglass boat, he kept three machines worth tens of millions of rupiahs. Among them, there were two outboard motors namely a Yamaha En-duro 15 HP, Yamaha As and a generator set. During the current fishing season, he always used his fishing boat includ-ing around the time of the incident. The victim also claimed to have reported the incident to local police. Apart from being painted black and red, the boat also housed a single outrigger, and the hull has the words ‘one heart’ and ‘satu hati. painted on it’ (kmb26)

Magnificent terminal, buses hang out at roadside

Semarapura (Bali Post)—The Batubulan Terminal has been made more mag-

nificent and wider. Unfortunately, public transport such as buses and urban transport service are reluctant to come into the terminal. As evidencd by some buses and urban transports still choosing to wait outside the terminal every day.

by buses and similar public transportation.

Congestion is the result of this tactic, During peak hours or during tourist season, the region seems crowded as the vehicles move very slowly.

When the act of such drivers was cross-checked, the Head of Gianyar Transportation, Informatics and Communica-tions Agency, Cokorda Gde Agusnawa, did not dismiss the condition. He said that his par-ty regularly disciplined the bus and public transport drivers in the region. However, the same answer was always given by the drivers. “The drivers argue that they lack passengers. Well, this is a classic excuse. Clearly, the transportation agency will continue to discipline them as it is for the common good and order,” he said.

He added, that aside from

the actions of individual bus driv-ers, who claim to lack passengers on normal days of operation in the terminal, impatient passengers waiting in the terminal also incited the driver to hang out outside the

terminal. “But basically all buses and public transports must come into the terminal and queue. When getting out, there must be individ-ual drivers waiting for passengers outside for a while. They already

know that if there are passengers not willing to wait for a long time in the terminal. We have often experienced such conditions and disciplined such actions over the years,” he said. (kmb35)

New programs are helping speed up the check-in process for busy travelers, or in at least one case, let-ting them go straight to their rooms by using their smartphone to unlock doors.

The innovations are still being tweaked as hotels scramble to catch up to airlines. Fliers today use their phones to check in, select seats and as a boarding pass. Hotels envision a similar relationship, with guests ultimately ordering poolside drinks via an app.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts on Monday became the first chain to let guests unlock doors with their phones. The feature is available at only 10 Aloft, Element and W hotels but will expand to 140 more proper-ties in those brands by the middle of next year.

Hilton Worldwide is the only other hotel chain to publicly acknowledge plans for mobile room keys — which it plans to roll out at the end of 2015 at more than 250 U.S. properties in its Hilton, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and Canopy brands.

“Guests want this because it makes their lives simpler,” says Mark Vondrasek, who oversees the loyalty program and digital initia-tives for Starwood. “The ability to go right to your room, gives them back time.”

Other hotel companies are finding other ways to streamline the arrival process.

Marriott International launched the ability to check in through its app at 330 North American hotels last year. By the end of this year, the pro-gram will be live at all 4,000 hotels worldwide. When a room becomes available, a message is sent to the guest’s phone. Traditional room keys are pre-programmed and waiting at

Agence France-PresseNEW YORK - An early Apple device sold

by Steve Jobs from his parents’ garage goes under the hammer in New York next month valued at $400,000-600,000 in an increas-ingly competitive computer relic market.

Christie’s says the Apple-1 is the only surviving such computer documented to have been sold directly by the late Apple founder to a customer from the garage in Los Altos, California.

It goes on sale in New York on December 11, the auctions house said.

The Apple-1 is considered a vanguard of the personal computer revolution, being the first pre-assembled personal computer ever sold.

Christie’s says its estimated value of $400,000 to $600,000 is the highest pre-sale estimate for an Apple-1 offered at auction.

Institutions have snapped up relics of computing history, making it rare for pri-vate collectors to acquire specimens on the market, and prices are rising.

Last month, auction house Bonhams sold for $905,000 in New York an Apple-1 built by Jobs’s business partner Steve Wozniak.

Considered the world’s most expensive computer relic, it was bought by the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

In 2013, Christie’s sold a 1976 Apple-1 for $387,750 and in 2010 another for 133,250 British pounds in London -- $212,267 at the time.

In this Oct. 14, 2014 photo, a mobile check-in option is offered for travelers at the main check-in counter at the Marriott Marquis Times Square hotel in New York. Marriott International launched the ability to check in through its app at 330 North American hotels last year. By the end of this year, the program will be live at all 4,000 hotels worldwide.

NEW YORK — Hotels don’t want guests to have to linger at the front desk — or even stop by at all.

the front desk. A special express line allows guests to bypass crowds, flash their IDs and get keys.

At Hilton, all 4,000 properties worldwide will have a similar check-in by the end of the year. The one added feature: Guests can use maps on the app to select a specific room.

InterContinental Hotels Group is testing express check-in for its elite loyalty program members at 500 hotels, primarily in the U.S.

The services are geared toward road warriors who don’t want to slow down, even for a second. Guests who like personal interac-tion can still opt for a more leisurely check-in, and hotel companies say the move isn’t about cutting jobs.

“If you’re at the end of a long day, you might want a little less of a chat-ty experience. But if you’re showing up at a new resort, you may want to know what the pool hours are,” says Brett Cowell, vice president of information technology for Hyatt, which is testing permanent keys for frequent guests at six hotels.

The push isn’t just about avoiding frustrating check-in lines. Hotels are trying to get more travelers com-fortable using their mobile apps to interact. In some cases, that means using an iPad to request a wakeup call. But ultimately hotels would like to see people purchasing suite upgrades, spa treatments and room service though their phones and tab-lets — and at some point wearable devices like smartwatches.

Marriott guests made $1.25 bil-lion in bookings last year through its mobile app, according to George Corbin, senior vice president of digital for the company.

Switching to smartphone room keys won’t be easy. Starwood’s app communicates using a Bluetooth

data connection. Each hotel room needs to have a new lock that can communicate with phones.

The top 15 hotel companies have more than 42,000 properties world-wide with a combined 5.2 million rooms, according to travel research firms STR and STR Global. Many hotels have made updates over the past few years, but they remain the minority.

Then there is the issue of secu-rity. If there is knock on the door late at night and a guest goes to the peephole to see who is there, nobody wants the phone in their pocket to

accidently unlock the door. That’s why Starwood requires the phone to actually touch a pad on the outside of the door to open it.

Finally, only one phone can be linked to a room at a time. So if two people are staying in the room, they still need to get a traditional key for the second traveler.

Marriott says it is holding off on smartphone keys until all the poten-tial bugs can be resolved.

“If there was ever a moment that matters,” Corbin says, “it’s the mo-ment when you go up to your door and the key doesn’t work.”

But for the frequent business trav-eler, this might just be the time-saver they are looking for.

Bruce Craven spends about 100 nights a year on the road, traveling between his California home and New York where he does executive training programs and teaches at Columbia Business School. He’s been testing Starwood’s smartphone room key since March.

“If you’re traveling all the time, little things can take on a symbolic importance,” Craven says. “This is one less thing that I need to think about.”

DENPASAR - Many delayed physical projects in Denpasar kindled the anxiety of the officials in the Denpasar Municipality. The effort to urge the contractors in order to complete the proj-ects on time was persistently delivered by the municipal officials of Denpasar. Previous, the Mayor IB Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra hoped the physical projects should be completed by November, and then similar insistence was revealed by Regional Secretary of Denpasar, AAN Rai Iswara.

there were still some projects that did not meet the target and delayed from the specified time. Even, the fountain project origi-nally planned to be built at the Lumintang Urban City failed to be tendered because there was only one bidder so that the project would be launched back in 2015.

The contractors argued that some projects could not be com-pleted on time because they lacked for laborers due to holi-days. The other reasons were due to narrow road access, the lack for artisan of Balinese style ornament and weather condition.

According to Rai Iswara, it was not appropriate reason. gIf the work has been carried out professionally and with a com-prehensive planning, then there is no reason for not finishing them on time. If there are additional works, it must be immediately rescheduled,h said Rai Iswara.

He added if the contractors

had dared to bargain, they should also dare to be responsible for the consequences and all the project works should meet the target. In the future, he cautioned that other than paying attention to

the development planning, the possibility of obstacles should also be encountered.

Meanwhile, some contractors that could still complete the tar-get promised to accomplish the

project by increasing the amount of labor and working hours of the employees. By that way, all the projects could be completed on time before their contract termi-nated. (kmb12)

In Karangasem Water crisis getting more serious

Water crisis hitting the residents in the barren region in Karangasem is getting more severe.

Residents purchasing water are forced to stand in line. According to one of the local residents, Komang Suparta, Monday (Nov 3), his family had re-

served the water purchase for five days. However, no water sellers came to bring him water.

Suparta from the southeast foot of Mount Agung said that his village had four towers whose water was trans-ported by truck worth IDR 150,000. Another Butus resident, Nyoman Pasar, living at roadside, said that he purchased water at IDR 140,000 for four towers. gFor other people living at greater distance and difficult terrain, the price of water is higher. At Nangka hamlet or Kemoning hamlet, the price of water reaches IDR 250,000 per four towers,h he said.

The water seller serving the resi-dents at Butus, Tanah Aron to Nangka and the surrounding residents was from Umanyar. This clean water seller offered cheaper price. Lately, the water price increased because the location where the seller took water, namely Ababi village, should pay levies to local village.

Residents at Tanah Aron, Nangka,

Kemoning, Butus and surrounding areas were afflicted by severe water crisis. Nengah Pasar said that the two geo membrane dam projects namely at Tanah Aron and Nangka had dried out. The water supply was not sufficient for the purposes of Nangka residents, let alone for residents at other hamlet.

A resident of Umanyar, Ababi village, Abang subdistrict, Nyoman Ngantik, said last Tuesday that the water supply through pipelines at his village had not worked since three days before. He did not know the cause whether there was something clogging the water flow.

Suparta hoped the Telaga Waja water pipeline project would also be distributed to residents of Butus. So far, the region besieged by the quarry activities did not show any indication to get clean water through the pipeline project. Actually, the residents at Butus village and the villages at upper land regularly faced water crisis during dry season. (013)

HONG KONG — Both victims in a double murder case that has shocked Hong Kong were Indonesian women, and one of the victims was frequenting a red light district on a lapsed domestic worker visa, an Indonesian consulate official said Tuesday.

Consulate spokesman Sam Aryadi confirmed one of the women found dead in an upscale apart-ment over the weekend was 29-year-old Seneng Mujiasih, who had come as a domestic worker from the city of Muna on Sulawesi island.

Hong Kong police had earlier identified the other woman as Sumarti Ningsih, whom Aryadi said Monday was a 25-year-old Indonesian woman from central Java. Ningsih, whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase, had gone by the Filipino-sounding alias of Jesse Lorena Ruri while spending time in Hong Kong’s Wan Chai red light district, he said. She was in the city on a tourist visa valid until Nov. 3.

The two women appeared to be among the thousands of migrant workers drawn to Hong Kong, one of Asia’s biggest financial hubs, looking for better pay. About half of the 319,325

migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong are Indonesian and nearly all are women, accord-ing to a report by human rights group Amnesty International.

Police have charged British banker Rurik George Caton Jutting with killing the two women. The 29-year-old has yet to enter a plea in the case.

Jutting’s Facebook page showed a picture apparently taken from the balcony of his luxury Hong Kong apartment where the body of Ning-sih was found stuffed into a suitcase. All the friends commenting on the photo were young Asian women, mostly with Filipino names. The consulate was arranging for the bodies of both women to be sent home for burial.

“Both of the women came from small cities,” Aryadi said. “We are working to have them sent back to their families.” Jutting is expected to cooperate with police in a reconstruction of the crime at the apartment on Friday.

The suspect is a graduate of Cambridge Uni-versity, where he was secretary of the university’s history society. He worked in structured equity finance and trading for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong since July 2013.

The alliance would also serve as a show of strength to counterbal-ance their traditional rival, Shiite-dominated, Iran. Two countries are seen as potential theaters for the alli-ance to act, senior Egyptian military officials said: Libya, where Islamic militants have taken over several cit-ies, and Yemen, where Shiite rebels suspected of links to Iran have seized control of the capital.

The discussions reflect a new assertiveness among the Middle East’s Sunni powerhouses, whose governments — after three years of post-Arab Spring turmoil in the region — have increasingly come to see Sunni Islamic militants and Islamist political movements as a threat.

The U.S. Arab allies’ consid-eration of a joint force illustrates a desire to go beyond the inter-national coalition that the United States has put together to wage an air campaign against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have partici-pated in those strikes in Syria. The officials said the alliance under consideration was not intended to intervene in Iraq or Syria but to act separately to address other

extremist hot spots. Three Egyptian military officials discussed details of the talks and a fourth confirmed their comments.

A Gulf official, who is aware of the discussions, also told The Associated Press that the govern-ments were coordinating on how to deal with Libya, and the talks were “ongoing on wider coopera-tion on how to deal with extremists in the region.” He and the Egyptian officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks remain secret.

Talks on an alliance against extremists are well advanced, the Egyptian officials said. But the further idea of forming a joint force is more distant, and there are dif-ferences among the countries over the size of any force, funding and headquarters, and over whether to seek Arab League or U.N. political cover for operations, one of the Egyptian officials said. Past at-tempts at a pan-Arab military force have fallen apart.

Still, even if no joint force is agreed on, the alliance would co-ordinate military action, aiming at quick, pinpoint operations against militants rather than longer mis-

sions, the officials said. The countries have already

shown an unprecedented willing-ness to intervene together. Egypt and the UAE cooperated in carrying out airstrikes against Islamic mili-tants in Libya during the summer,

according to U.S. and Egyptian officials, and last month Egypt car-ried out strikes of its own. Egypt’s government has denied both opera-tions.

Egypt’s president, former mili-tary chief Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi,

has warned repeatedly that Islamic extremists must be dealt with in multiple places, not just in Iraq and Syria. In a September interview with the AP, he said “a comprehen-sive counterterrorism strategy in the region” is needed.

Jakarta - Speaker of the Jakarta city Council (DPRD) Prasetyo Edi Marsudi said the Council instead of the Home Affairs Minister should do the installation of care taker governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as the new governor of the capital city.

Prasetyo made the statement amid conflict-ing arguments with the majority factions in the DPRD opposing the promotion of Ahok to the governorship position. Ahok was vice governor under Governor Joko Widodo, who is now the countrys president.

A law says that a vice governor will au-tomatically take over the governorship after being left vacant by the governor, but the fac-tion of the coalition led by Gerindra created a controversy by raising contradictory legal argument.

Ahok had angered Gerindra after he quit the party in protest of the party policy of favoring indirect election of regional leaders including governors. Ahok and Joko Widodo won the gubernatorial election of Jakarta sponsored by Gerindra and the Indonesian Democratic Party

of Struggle (PDIP).The presidential election pitting PDIP

candidate Joko Widodo against Grindra can-didate Prabowo Subianto led to the split of the political coalition of the two parties and dispute between Ahok and his former party Gerindra.

The home affairs minister has decided to install Ahok if the DPRD refused to do the installation. “If Ahok has to be installed by the home affairs minister, that would mean the DPRD has lost its function,” Prasetyo said here on Monday.

He said the Jakarta city council should play its function as peoples representatives and at the same time good partner of provincial administration.

“The people of Jakarta will question our competence if the home affairs minister should do the installation,” he said.

Therefore, he said, in order to protect the good name of the DPRD, he would seek a dialog and maintain communications with all factions in the DPRD to forgo personal interest and call for a plenary session for the installa-tion of Ahok.

“Five flights were delayed for about 30 minutes to an hour from their scheduled departure time,” Airport Service Section Head of PT Angkasa Pura I airport operator Heru Widiatmo stated in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Tuesday. The haze also covered regions in Jambi and South Sumatra and disrupted flights from Palembang on Monday.

According to the National Disas-ter Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the smoke arising from hotspots still engulfed various regions in Indo-nesia, such as South Sumatra and Kalimantan. Based on satellite data on Monday, South Sumatra still had 37 hotspots, Central Kalimantan (125), South Kalimantan (29), and East Kalimantan (20).

“It seems that the annual land and forest fires have not yet served as a lesson for the people to fully prevent the disaster,” Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the head of the Informa-tion Center and Public Relations of BNPB, affirmed on Monday.

He noted that the satellite de-tected the spread of haze in the Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) region

of Palembang (South Sumatra) and Jambi. The winds blew from the south towards the north-northwest-ern directions.

In South Kalimantan, five flights faced delays in their departure schedules. According to the lo-cal airport operator official Heru Widiatmo, visibility at the airport at 6 a.m. local time, on Tuesday, was still normal at 800 meters, but thirty minutes later, the visibility reduced further.

“Visibility was only about 300 meters at 6:45 a.m. local time, thereby causing flights to be de-layed as pilots chose not to operate them,” Sutopo remarked. On Mon-day, Banjarbaru and Banjarmasin were engulfed in thick haze, which caused breathing problems among the residents in the two South Ka-limantan cities.

Dark smoke filled nearly all the streets in the two cities after the conditions remained normal for almost two weeks. “At 6 a.m. local time, the air is fresh, but 30 minutes later, thick smoke blew across the city,” Wita, a mother from northern

Banjarbaru, claimed. The visibility was limited, and the

odor was so strong that the passersby and motorists had to wear masks, Wita stated. The smoke originated from several bush fires not far from the city. A fairly large fire ravaged tens of hectares of open bush land in that area. The fire, which spread rapidly, completely ravaged a public health center in Liang Anggang.

In the nearby provincial city of Banjarmasin, the people were already

complaining about the inconvenience caused by the thick smoke over the past several days, and on Monday, the condition deteriorated as thicker smoke rolled into the city.

Thick haze also covered the Bun-tok City of South Barito District in Central Kalimantan province, over the past two days. The haze hin-dered daily activities of the locals and motorists as it reduced visibility on various roads in the district.

Head of the Health Care Service

of South Barito District Djulita K. Palar called on the residents to reduce their outdoor activities and to wear masks if they had to venture out. “If the residents experi-ence symptoms of respiratory tract diseases, then they should visit the health care center to check their health,” Palar emphasized.

Besides affecting the regions in South and Central Kalimantan, the haze has also engulfed areas in South Sumatra and Jambi provinces.

Jakarta - Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Lestari Marsudi and her German counterpart Frank-Walter Stein-meier discussed comprehensive partner-ship cooperation in economic, diplomatic, and cultural sectors, among others.

“We have discussed several bilateral cooperation issues, particularly in eco-nomic and trade sectors, which we will enhance. I have also urged the German government to facilitate access for In-donesian products, including commod-ity goods,” Retno emphasized here on Monday.

According to Retno, the total trade volume between Indonesia and Germany currently stands at US$7.3 billion. Since 2013, Germany has also invested in a Volkswagen car factory in Cikampek. The car factory, which is popularly known as “VW,” manufactures at least five thou-sand cars each year.

According to the data, the company will invest US$100 million to expand its

plant in Cikampek of West Java. Indo-nesian Foreign Minister also proposed to Steinmeier to implement the free-visa entry regulation for Indonesian diplo-matic and service passport holders who enter Germany.

“It means to implement a free-visa policy for black- and blue-colored pass-ports as the German government has not yet agreed to it. However, Minister Steinmeier has agreed to review the possibilities,” Retno stated. Minister Steinmeier further added that Germany and Indonesia have discussed the solution and have identified the areas of potential cooperation between the two countries. Steinmeier is accompanied by several teams such as the economic, parliament, and cultural delegations.

“We are not visiting Indonesia as a political delegation, but we bring along parliament members and an economic delegation to deepen mutual political understanding,” Steinmeier noted.

Southeast Asia’s ruling families have not generally espoused austeri-ty -- from the controversial children of late Indonesian dictator Suharto to the wife of Malaysia’s premier, who is criticised as a spendthrift, and the excesses of Brunei’s roy-als. In contrast, the wife, daughter and two sons of Widodo, known as Jokowi, appear humble and down to earth, more representative of the country’s rapidly emerging middle class than an aloof elite.

“Even now Jokowi has been elected president, they still want to live like other ordinary people,” Anggit Noegroho, a friend of Widodo’s who helped him during numerous political campaigns and has known the family for a decade, told AFP.

They present the same image as 53-year-old Widodo himself, Indo-nesia’s first president from outside the political and military elites, who rose from a modest background and has pledged clean governance in one of the world’s most corrupt countries.

However observers caution that it could be tough going for a family

unused to intense public scrutiny -- and point out it is not hard for them to look good, given what went before. The children of Widodo’s predecessor, ex-general Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, sometimes courted controversy, with one of his sons having to fend off accusa-tions of corruption, but it was the offspring of Suharto who provoke the most anger in Indonesia.

His six children allegedly amassed fortunes by enjoying privileged access to lucrative busi-ness deals during his three-decade rule, which was marked by massive corruption. He was toppled in 1998 by the Asian financial crisis.

The most controversial is young-est son Hutomo Mandala Putra, popularly known as Tommy.

A playboy with a taste for flashy cars, he served four years of a 15-year prison term for hiring hitmen to murder a judge who had sen-tenced him to jail for corruption. He was released in 2006.

When it comes to Widodo’s fam-ily, his wife Iriana, 51, has forgone the designer clothes and fancy handbags beloved of many first

ladies, normally opting for plain shirts and trousers.

His eldest son has set up a cater-ing business in the family’s home-town of Solo, on Java, and drives a Mazda hatchback.

While his family spent several days in Jakarta before Widodo’s October 20 inauguration, the 27-year-old did not leave until the day before due to his heavy workload.

“I will be able to leave the city only once my catering jobs are done,” he told the Jakarta Post newspaper. When Widodo’s daugh-ter, Kahiyang Ayu, injured her hand, the 23-year-old reportedly insisted on being taken to a community health centre instead of an expen-sive private clinic and waited to be seen by a doctor.

A blog by Widodo’s youngest son, 17-year-old Kaesang Pan-garep, has shone a light on the first family’s private life, with tales of his father playing practical jokes and worries about what to wear to school adding to the sense they are just normal, middle-class folk.

The family is not poor -- Widodo used to be a successful businessman -- and one area where they have splashed out is the children’s edu-cation. The two sons both attended high school in Singapore, while the eldest did business courses in the city-state and Australia.

Even in wealthy Singapore how-

ever, the youngest son said that his parents did not spoil him.

“I very rarely take the MRT (subway) because it is more ex-pensive than a bus ride,” he wrote on his blog during his time in the city-state, adding that his mother had refused to increase his meagre pocket money allowance.

He said that his mother told him: “Your pocket money shouldn’t be a lot, so that you know the misery of living in another country.”

While they have mostly been praised by the public and media, it is still early days for the family and there are already signs that every-thing might not run smoothly.

The eldest son faced criticism recently for responding angrily to reporters’ questions about why he did not appear with his father during the presidential campaign.

“This man is too sensitive. He is not like his father,” one Twitter user commented.

CILACAP - The father of a young Indonesian woman murdered in Hong Kong called Tuesday for her “sadistic” killer to be put to death, a day after a British banker appeared in court accused of killing her and a second woman.

The mutilated and decomposing body of Sumarti Ningsih, in her 20s, was found on Saturday in a suitcase on the balcony of Rurik Jutting’s upmarket apartment in the southern Chinese city.

Jutting, a 29-year-old securities trader, who until recently worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, had called police to his home in the Wanchai district in the early hours of Saturday.

Investigators found a naked woman with knife wounds to her neck and buttocks in the living room of the flat, on the 31st floor of a plush residential block.

The body of Ningsih, who had a young son and was from a poor farming family, was discovered hours later as police searched the

apartment -- court documents state that she was killed on October 27.

Her father spoke to AFP of his shock and anger at the death of his daughter, who was one of four siblings and had been providing financial support to her family back in Indonesia.

“I want the murderer of my child to be sentenced to death. He killed

her, sadistically, so he must be put to death,” said Ahmad Kaliman, 58, speaking to AFP in Cilacap, a port town on the south coast of Java.

Hong Kong does not impose the death penalty.

“I also plead for the governments of Indonesia and Hong Kong to return our child’s body as soon as possible. I want her to be be buried

in Indonesia,” he added. He said the family had been

informed by one of their daughter’s acquaintances in Hong Kong that she had been killed.

“We were informed by telephone that our daughter was murdered. I was very shocked, especially when I was informed that it was hard to identify the body,” he said.

He said that his daughter had transferred some money to his bank account on October 22 but he had not heard anything from her since.

Police reportedly believe the vic-tims were sex workers, but Ningsih had told her parents she was work-ing in a restaurant in Hong Kong.

Ningsih’s parents were farm-ers who could only afford to put their daughter through elementary school. She went to work in sev-eral Indonesian cities, including the capital Jakarta, before moving to Hong Kong for the first time in 2011 to try to earn money to support her family.

Her father said that she initially went to Hong Kong as a domestic worker. She had returned to the city

on two occasions since then, for a stint in 2013 and this year, he said. He said that she had a five-year-old son who now lives with his grand-parents in Cilacap.

Consulate officials said Ningsih had come to Hong Kong on Septem-ber 1 and overstayed her one-month tourist visa.

The Indonesian consulate con-firmed to AFP Tuesday that the other victim found in the apartment was Seneng Mujiasih, 29 -- who went by the name Jesse Lorena -- and was also Indonesian.

She had been working as a do-mestic worker, the consulate said, but her employment visa had run out in 2012. Jutting appeared in court for the first time on Monday, showing no emotion as he listened to the charges. He was taken to jail to await his next hearing on November 10.

He was a pupil at the exclusive English boarding school Winchester College before studying history and law at Cambridge University, with former classmates saying he ex-celled academically.

NEW YORK — The silvery skyscraper that rose from the ashes of the Sept. 11, 2001 ter-ror attacks to become a symbol of American resilience opened for businessMonday, as 175 employees of the magazine publishing giant Conde Nast settled into their first day of work there.

The opening of the country’s tallest building, One World Trade Center, marked a sym-bolic return to a sense of nor-malcy for the site where the twin towers fell more than 13 years ago.

“The New York City skyline is whole again,” said Patrick Foye, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns both the building and the World Trade Center site.

Steps away from the new 1,776-foot (541-meter) tower are two memorial fountains built on the footprints of the decimated towers, a reminder of the more than 2,700 people who died.Conde Nast, publisher of Vogue, The New Yorker and Vanity Fair, is expected to move in about 3,000 more employees by early next year, eventually occupying 25 floors of the $3.9 billion, 104-story tower.

Privately, some Conde Nast employees acknowledged that they were nervous about work-ing in a skyscraper that could

again be a terrorist target.Foye countered that it’s

“the most secure office build-ing in America.” And its chief architect, T.J. Gottesdiener, said the high-rise was built with steel-reinforced concrete that makes it as terror attack-proof as possible — much stronger than the original towers that collapsed when the hijacked planes hit.

The stairwells are built with a hardened concrete core, and wider to allow firefighters to move while people exit. The building’s mechanical systems are also encased in hardened concrete.

“If my son told me he had a job in the trade center Tower 1, I would have no qualms about him being there,” Gottesdiener said. One World Trade Center is 60 percent leased. Its eight-year construction came after years of political, financial and legal infighting that threatened to derail the project.

The area has prospered in recent years. About 60,000 more residents now live in the area — three times more than before 9/11 — keeping streets, restaurants and shops alive even after Wall Street and other of-fices close for the day. Still, it’s a bittersweet victory.

“The city and the world were watching us, and we had to do it right, to do it better than be-fore,” Gottesdiener said. “And we did it, we finally did it.”

The White House called the meet-ing “part of an ongoing dialogue on the state of the economy, financial reform, and other economic issues.”

The Fed last week announced the end of its landmark bond-buying program, a form of economic stimu-lus largely credited with helping the recovery by increasing the supply of money to financial institutions and keeping long-term interest rates low.

Yellen now faces a key decision on when to raise short-term interest rates, which the Fed has kept at a record low near zero since Decem-ber 2008. Many economists believe the first rate increase will not occur until June at the earliest although the Fed has maintained that it will

be dependent on the performance of the economy, which has seen some strengthening in the job market.

The Fed is an independent institu-tion and presidents insist they do not meddle in the central bank’s monetary policy decisions. But faced with a po-litically divided Congress and the pos-sibility of a Republican-led House and Senate following Tuesday’s elections, Obama’s own economic policies have faced resistance. That makes the Fed one of the most influential players in the nation’s economic trajectory.

The meeting also comes a week ahead of Obama’s Asia trip which includes a gathering in Australia of the Group of 20 largest economies. U.S. policy makers have been keeping a wary

eye on the economic struggles overseas, particularly China where the economy-has been slowing down and in Europe where the eurozone nations are in danger of a third recession in seven years.

“Obviously the Fed is an indepen-dent body,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said. “They make their own policies, but there is an opportu-nity for the president and the chair of the Fed to have conversations. Those conversations, at least in the context of today, are focused on the long-term outlook for the American economy and even the longer-term impact of the global economy as well.”

Obama, who held periodic meet-ings with Ben Bernanke when he chaired the central bank, did see Yel-len last month while meeting with fi-nancial regulators to review measures aimed at avoiding a repeat of the 2008 financial crisis. Monday’s meeting was their first meeting alone.

Yellen and Obama on Monday also discussed the implementation of the financial regulatory law that Congress passed and Obama signed in 2010.

WASHINGTON — With the Federal Reserve’s role in the U.S. economic recovery at a crossroads, Fed Chair Janet Yellen on Monday sat down with President Barack Obama in their first face-to-face meeting since she assumed her post as head of the American central bank in February. BANGKOK — A Thai court has sentenced a university stu-dent to 2 1/2 years in prison for posting a message on Facebook that the court found to have insulted the country’s king. A Criminal Court judge on Tuesday found 24-year-old Akkaradet Eiamsuwan guilty of violating Thailand’s lese majeste law, which punishes anyone who defames, insults or threatens the

used an alias to post the offensive message on Facebook in March. The court said it reduced the original sentence of five years’ imprisonment to 2 1/2 years be-cause the defendant confessed to the offense.

NEW DELHI — India’s gov-ernment on Tuesday ordered that the capital’s legislative assembly be dissolved so new elections can be held. Delhi has been run by the federal government since the city’s top elected official resigned in February.

In elections a year ago, none of the three main political parties won enough seats in the 70-member assembly to form a government. India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party won 32 seats, short of a majority, but no political group

was willing to form a coalition government with it, or even offer support from outside.

Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party formed a government, but it was short-lived. Aam Aadmi won only 28 seats in the elections, but was able to form a government with the Congress Party supporting it from the outside. Congress had won eight seats in the polls, held last December.

Kejriwal resigned after 49 days in office when opposition par-ties voted against his proposal to appoint an independent anti-cor-ruption panel to investigate graft

charges against politicians and bureaucrats.

India’s Supreme Court said recently that Delhi’s government should make efforts to end the impasse, and that fresh elections should be held if no party is able to form a government.

Delhi’s federally appointed ad-ministrator, Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung, said leaders of the three main parties had expressed their inability to form a govern-ment. Officials said the decision to dissolve the assembly will allow elections to be held early next year.

PARIS - He is the man who sparked joyous scenes of celebration across a grateful nation when he ended Britain’s 77-year wait for a Wimbledon men’s champion. Yet 14 months later Andy Murray’s towering frame was missing from the eight-man lineup featured

on the giant billboard posters plastered across the streets of London to advertise the ATP World Tour Finals.

While organisers scramble to replace the out-of-date banners -- proclaiming “Get Ready London. They’re Back” -- with ones featuring Murray, the Scot is unlikely to lose any sleep over the omission. What he will be

more keen to focus on will be the thought of completing a unique treble of London titles.

Having bagged a gold medal from the 2012 London Olympics and won the 2013 Wimbledon championship, Murray will get his first chance to complete the hat-trick at the O2 next week after missing last year’s season finale following back surgery. “It (winning the treble) would definitely mean a lot,” Murray told Reuters in an interview in the run-up to the Tour Finals.

“I know what it takes to win at the highest level so I will just make sure I prepare myself in the best possible way to give myself the best chance of success, but I am playing well and enjoying it right now. “It was disappointing not playing last year when I had to withdraw because of my back. It has been a tough year, but I feel like I am fully fit now, and have had a great last six weeks and I can’t wait to return to the O2,” added Murray, who has also won three Queen’s Club titles in the capital city.

“You do appreciate how much you enjoy the sport and how much you enjoy playing when you are unable to do it. That was tough last year.” It certainly has been a remarkable six weeks for Murray. Following his quarter-final exit at the U.S. Open, he dropped out of the top 10 for the first time in over six years.

That sparked fears among home fans that Murray might miss out on the season finale but the 27-year-old was soon enjoying the

benefits of a punishing fitness regime that sees him train even on Christmas Day.

RIGHT STUFFHe survived five match points against

Tommy Robredo to emerge victorious in Shenzhen. The Scot subdued David Ferrer in three exhausting sets in the Vienna final. He then left Robredo jokingly showing him the middle finger after the Spaniard saw another five match points vanish as Murray triumphed in Valencia.

“With my ranking having dropped a bit and obviously I hadn’t won a tournament for a while... last four of five weeks have been very good for that,” said Murray, who only secured his place for the ATP Finals during last week’s Paris Masters. Declaring that “it has been three or four years since I felt so well”, he is raring to get going again.

“The way the finals have been won, I saved (five) match points in two of them and also in the third one Ferrer was serving for the match (in Vienna). So they have been very, very tight, close matches so it has been nice to get a few wins.

“I don’t know how I’m going to feel in a week’s time but, providing I do all the right stuff to prepare, if I get enough rest, and recovery... I’ve played enough matches, I’ve played enough tennis to give it a good go there.” It seems many of his rivals also think Murray is doing the “right stuff”.

Alan Anderson added 18 points and Deron Williams had 17 points and nine assists for the Nets, who got their leading scorer back on a night the Thunder, already without Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, lost yet another player to injury.

Reggie Jackson scored 23 points in his season debut after missing the first three games with a sprained right ankle, but the Thunder left just as short-handed as they entered when starting guard Andre Rober-son sprained his left foot. He played just 11 ½ minutes of the first half.

Lopez was averaging a team-best 20.7 points when he broke his right foot last Dec. 20 against Philadel-phia and had season-ending surgery. He was back for the start of training camp but sprained the foot during an exhibition game in China and missed the Nets’ first two games.

“I can’t put it in words,” Lopez said. “It was great to be back out there. I’ve missed it for a long time and our team definitely took care of business tonight. Our guys make it easy.”

In other games, the Memphis Grizzlies improved to a club-best 4-0 start with a 93-81 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, the Dallas Mavericks hung on for a 118-113 win over the Boston Celtics after blowing a 30-point lead, and the Sacramento Kings topped the Den-ver Nuggets 110-105.

In Memphis, Tennessee, Marc Gasol scored 16 points, Zach Ran-dolph had 15 and Tayshaun Prince added 14 as the Grizzlies extended their home winning streak to a club-record 16 straight games dat-ing back to last season. Randolph had 11 rebounds to give him a double-double in each of the team’s

four games this season. Gasol (11 rebounds) and Tony Allen (12 points, 11 rebounds) also finished with double-doubles.

After trailing by 31 points in the second quarter, the Celtics had a chance to tie the game against the Mavericks when Avery Bradley was fouled on a 3-pointer by Monta Ellis with 39 seconds left, but he missed the second one.

Ellis then put Dallas back up by three at 116-113 when he was fouled by Rajon Rondo on a drive and made both free throws. Chan-dler Parsons scored 29 points and Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points to lead the Mavericks.

Sacramento’s Darren Collison scored 21 points, including three free throws in the final 16.2 sec-onds, as the Kings held off the Nuggets to improve to 3-1 for the first time since 2010-11.

DeMarcus Cousins added 19 points and Reggie Evans grabbed 14 rebounds for Sacramento, which showed no signs of fatigue after beating the Clippers the day before in Los Angeles.

Lazio captain Stefano Mauri put the hosts ahead seven minutes in at the Sta-dio Olimpico and the 36-year-old Klose scored in the 25th and 26th. Cagliari pulled one back with an own goal from Lazio’s Dutch defender Edson Braafheid in the 48th. Then after being reduced to 10 men, Cagliari made the final minutes interesting with another score from Joao Pedro in the 84th.

But Ederson restored Lazio’s two-goal lead in added time. Cagliari, which was unbeaten for three matches, remained four points from the bottom. Earlier, Hellas Verona came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 at Cesena and move to the middle

of the table. In Rome, Mauri set the tone when he used the tip of his foot to find the target from inside the box. Mauri returned from a six-month sports ban earlier this year but is still being investigated by ju-dicial authorities for match-fixing.

Klose tapped in from close range after being set up by Senad Lulic for his first score, then had time to line up a shot that was deflected in off a defender for his second. After helping Germany win the World Cup, Klose has three goals in Serie A this season. Cagliari forward Viktor Ibarbo was sent off for a reaction foul in the 72nd.

Pedro’s goal came with a volley

through the legs of goalkeeper Federico Marchetti. In Cesena, French forward Gregiore Defrel put the hosts ahead in the 22nd following an excellent headed setup from Hugo Almeida. Argentine striker Juanito Gomez equalized for Verona in the 77th with a looping header.

Verona scored with 10 men, since all three substitutions had been used when Danish defender Frederik Sorensen came off with an appar-ent injury following a collision in the 73rd.

Verona is level 10th with Fiorenti-na, 12 points behind Juventus. Cesena remained one point from the bottom.

over Roma on Wednesday will advance them to the knockout round with two games to spare. The Bavarians, who recorded their biggest away win in the competition when they crushed Roma 7-1 in the Italian capital last month, are in scintillating form and top Group E on a maximum nine points from three games.

The German champions have won 12 of 15 games in the Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League this season, drawing the other three matches to remain unbeaten in all compe-titions. They received a further boost to their confidence on Saturday when they came from a goal down to edge past fellow Champions League club and main domestic rivals Borussia

coach Pep Guardiola was the performances of Arjen Robben, back from a minor knock, and fellow winger Franck Ribery, who is gradually returning to his best form after a long injury break. Dutchman Robben was a constant source of danger and also converted an 85th minute spot kick, awarded after French-man Ribery was brought down following a surging run, for the winner.

“We are playing good football at times but there is still room for improvement,” Robben said. “We won in Rome 7-1 and we beat Dortmund. “But we always have to remain critical, improve things, never let off and think that it will just happen by itself. It does not but we are on a good path.”

ZURICH - FIFA showed little enthusiasm towards a proposal to stage the 2022 World Cup in April and May, saying on Mon-day that January/February or November/December remained the most likely options for the tournament in Qatar.

Soccer’s governing body said there were medical concerns at holding the competition during any period between May and September while Ramadan would affect preparations if the tourna-ment were to be held in May.

“We are get t ing closer to narrowing the dates.....to two options - January/February 2022 or November/December 2022 - but FIFA has also been asked to consider May 2022,” said FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke following a meeting of the task force set up to determine when the tournament should be held.

The world players’ union FIF-Pro also opposed a summer World

Cup, saying that “we must avoid the hottest months at all costs, ir-respective of what was suggested during the bidding procedure.”

Qatar were ranked bottom of the nations bidding to stage the World Cup by FIFA’s own techni-cal study group before the vote was taken in December 2010. However, Qatar saw off rival bids from the United States, Australia, Japan and South Korea to become the first Arab state to stage the tournament.

The award of the World Cup to the tiny Middle-East emirate has been the subject of an inves-tigation by New York attorney Michael Garcia over the last 18 months, set up to establish wheth-er any corruption was involved in the decision taken by the FIFA executive committee.

Garcia’s findings are now being studied by German judge Hans-Joachim Eckert, the head of FIFA’s independent adjudica-tory chamber, who is expected to issue his initial report later

this month.

EVENING MATCHES

The European Clubs’ Associa-tion, seeking as little disruption to the traditional European cal-endar as possible, suggested last week that April/May would cause less disruption to the club season and that temperatures during that period would not be hotter than at some previous World Cups provided matches were played in the evening.

The task force, which in-cludes representat ives from clubs, leagues, players and local organisers was meeting for the second time.

Qatar was awarded the compe-tition on the basis that it would be staged in June/July using naturally cooled stadiums to alleviate the effects of the des-ert heat. Despite this, there is widespread agreement that the tournament should be held in cooler months.

LONDON — Steven Fletcher scored twice as Sunderland beat Crystal Palace 3-1 Monday to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone. Fletcher put the visitors ahead with a perfectly placed header in the 31st minute

and then finished off the win in injury time by lifting the ball inside the far post with the outside of his left boot.

Palace had equalized through an own goal by Wes Brown in the 55th minute, but Jordi Gomez restored Sunderland’s lead with a low strike from outside the area in the 79th. A

frustrated Palace side went down to 10 men when Mile Jedinak was given a second booking for kicking out at Gomez, and Sunderland took advantage with a quick counterat-tack to score the third near the end. Sunderland climbed to 15th with 11 points from 10 games, with Palace two points back in 17th.

TEL AVIV, Israel — A soccer match in Israel’s Premier League has been stopped after a fan ran onto the field and assaulted a star player. Cross-city rivals Mac-cabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv were tied 1-1 in the first

half Monday when a shirtless fan ran onto the field and began hitting and kicking Maccabi’s Eran Zehavi.

The two exchanged blows for several moments before security dragged the fan away. The game referee then issued Zehavi a red card, sparking a further outburst

from players and fans. After numer-ous other fans ran onto the field and began exchanging blows, the game was called and the players were evacuated.

Hapoel manager Eyal Berk-ovic called it a “black day” for Israeli soccer. “This is not soc-cer, this is war,” he said.

In the league they are equally as effective, scoring a staggering 23 goals and conceding three in 10 matches as they plot a smooth course towards a successful Bundesliga title defence. Roma had a far less successful week-

end, slumping to a 2-0 defeat at Napoli to slip three points behind rivals Juventus at the top of Serie A.

Coach Rudi Garcia knows his team have a mountain to climb at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday if they are to maintain their chal-lenge for second place ahead of Manchester City, who are two

points behind them after three matches.

Roma have managed at least one away win in each of their last four Champions League group stage appearances and there would be no better time for a victory on the road to restore some pride after their thrashing at the hands of the Germans.

BANGKOK — A Thai court has sentenced a university stu-dent to 2 1/2 years in prison for posting a message on Facebook that the court found to have insulted the country’s king. A Criminal Court judge on Tuesday found 24-year-old Akkaradet Eiamsuwan guilty of violating Thailand’s lese majeste law, which punishes anyone who defames, insults or threatens the

monarchy.The ruling said that Akkaradet

used an alias to post the offensive message on Facebook in March. The court said it reduced the original sentence of five years’ imprisonment to 2 1/2 years be-cause the defendant confessed to the offense.

He was arrested in Bangkok in June and has been in jail since. Thailand’s lese majeste law is the world’s harshest, calling for a jail term of three to 15 years.

Indonesia Today

Traditional room keys are pre-programmed and waiting at

by Steve Jobs from his parents’ garage goes under the hammer in New York next month valued at $400,000-600,000 in an increas-ingly competitive computer relic market.

In the face of the agencies, commitment making officials, technical officials and the con-tractors working on the physical projects in 2014, Rai Iswara requested all the contractors han-dling the construction work in the city of Denpasar to complete the workmanship on time. The meet-ing in the Praja Utama Room of the Mayoral Office on Monday (Nov 3) aimed to monitor the ongoing project development in the city of Denpasar.

Rai Iswara requested the com-mitment making officials and the contractors to seriously complete the project from planning to the implementation in order to meet the target. In the meeting guided by the Assistant II of the Denpasar Regional Secretariat, Wayan Gunawan, Rai Iswara asked for an explanation to the commitment making officials and the contractors working on the project in Denpasar.

Municipal secretary asks project completion on timeBali Post

IBP/File Photo

Apart from being painted black and red, the boat also housed a single outrigger, and the hull has the words ‘one heart’ and ‘satu hati. painted on it’ (kmb26)

nificent and wider.

(kmb35)

But the reality is, many filmmakers have long since fled to cheaper locations in London, New York, Canada and elsewhere.

the tourism development of Nusa Penida should have clarity on the defined zones. It was meant to avoid the uncontrolled tourism develop-ment as happened in other parts of the island. Finally, local people just

He assessed that Nusa Penida actually had a complete tourist attraction such as the marine waters designated as a conservation area, white sandy beaches, high cliffs and sacred places.

But, the other natural attrac-tions should be further explored. Nusa Penida was one of the tourist areas that had not been worked on

maximally. Independently, Nusa Lembongan had first developed but the spatial plan remained to become a problem.

A representative of the Bali Development Planning Board (Bappeda), Ngakan Made Putu Ki-rin, said that Nusa Penida had been designated as a strategic area of the 21 regions in Bali. Determination of the region would be followed up by the preparation of masterplan so that the indigenous wisdom of Nusa Penida could increasingly develop. (kmb31)
