He global alternative and complementary medicine market was valued at $40.32 billion in 2015 and $71.19 billion in 2016. As a result to the increasing

support by the masses, increased usage of traditional therapeutic methods has a scope for considerable growth in the coming decade. It was estimated that more than 60% of the global population uses some or the other form of traditional medicine as of 2017.

Alternative medicine involves the traditional methods of medication such as the use of herbs and other mind and body healing techniques that are mostly based on faith and belief like Ayurveda, Unani and Traditional Chinese Medicine. However, many of these techniques have no regulatory approval or clinical evidential backing. Many of the regulatory and government bodies have put up efforts in finding clinical support for the incorporation of alternative treatments to help improve the market and treatment methods.

Edinburgh is not only one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, it is a city with a fantastic position. The view falls on all sides – green hills, the hint of the blue sea, the silhouettes of the buildings and the red cliffs. It is a city that calls you to explore it by foot – narrow streets, passageways, stairs and hidden church yards on every step will pull you away from the main streets.

The city is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK. It is the capital of Scotland and home to many tourist attractions. A visit here will be well worth it, considering the numerous things you can do and see. Most of the structures in the Old Town have remained in their original form over the years. Charming medieval relics are plenty in this section of the city. In contrast, orderly Georgian terraces line the streets of the New Town. The general urban scenery is a blend of ancient structures and modern architecture, which gives the city a unique character. In 1995, the Old Town was listed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. Edinburgh Climate:

The climate of Edinburgh is cool and moist, cloudy and rainy, being influenced by the ocean. Winter is cold but not freezing, while summer is cool. The average temperature of January is 4 °C (39 °F), that of July and August is 15 °C (59 °F).

Transport within Edinburgh:

The Scotland-wide free bus pass scheme allows anyone aged over 60 and eligible disabled people who live in Scotland, to travel free on bus services within Scotland.

Edinburgh Bus Station is centrally located in the city centre (Elder Street, Edinburgh, EH1 3DX) and only a short walk to bus stops for local services, shopping and Waverley Train Station.

Train: Waverley Station is located at the very heart of the city, making the train a great way to arrive. Virgin Trains East Coast runs frequent services from London King’s Cross, while Virgin Trains run from London Euston via Birmingham. Journeys from London take from 4 1/2 hours. Scot Rail’s Caledonian Sleeper service runs from London Euston every night except Saturday. Information about all services to Edinburgh is available from National Rail Enquiries

Taxi: Black cabs are not cheap in Edinburgh, but you can usually hail one on the street without too much trouble. At busier times – weekend nights and during the Festival – it may be easier to head for one of the many city centre taxi ranks or have a couple local taxi company numbers on your phone: for City Cabs, 00 44 131 228 1211; for Central Taxis, 00 44 131 229 2468. You can also use the Uber taxi app in the city – a trip from the airport to Princes Street should cost around £18

Air links: Airlines fly to 130 destinations from Edinburgh International Airport with flights from London taking just over an hour.

To get to and from the airport, Airlink buses (Service 100) run 24 hours a day (Service N22 from 12.15am-4am) to the city centre (single £4.50, child £2; open return £7.50, child £3; lothianbuses.com), while trams run from the airport to the city every 8-12 minutes from 6.15am to 10.45pm (single £5.50, child, £3; open return £8.50, child £4.50; edinburghtrams.com)

Buses and trams: Edinburgh has a usefully integrated transport service. A single ticket on either bus or tram costs £1.60 (child, 80p). A DAYticket giving unlimited travel on the buses and trams is £4 (child, £2) for the city zone (all stops except Edinburgh airport).

If you are planning to be out until all hours, a single night ticket is £3, while a DAY&NIGHTticket is £3.50 (adults only) – particularly useful during the Festival. If you are making three or more journeys in a day, including travel by either bus or tram to/from Edinburgh airport, an Airport DAYticket is £9 (child, £4.50).

A family DAYticket, which gives unlimited all-day travel for two adults and up to three children on both trams and buses in the city zone costs £8.50.

Tickets can be purchased before boarding at tram ticket machines (which accept credit and debit cards, but there is a £3 minimum spend), from the driver on any Lothian Buses day service, from Transport for Edinburgh Travelshops at Waverley Bridge, Hanover Street or Haymarket, online, or using M-tickets on the useful Transport for Edinburgh app.

Be sure to have the correct money if you are buying your ticket on the bus as the drivers cannot give change, and remember you must have a valid ticket before boarding a tram. Keep tickets for inspection on both buses and trams

Coach: If you are on a budget, travelling by coach can be a money-saving option. Both National Express and Megabus offer services from around the UK to Edinburgh.

Car: If you are planning to drive to Edinburgh, remember that parking can be difficult and expensive. However, some park and ride facilities allow overnight parking for a maximum of seven days. Information about parking is available on the City of Edinburgh Council website. If you are hiring a car, most rental companies have drop off/pick up points in the city as well as at the airport.

Cycling: Cycling is a popular way for students to get around Edinburgh. Cyclists can use the bus lanes and cycle paths around the city.Edinburgh has a good network of cycle routes
