How has my knowledge changed?

• There is a clear distinction of my change in knowledge when a comparison is made between both maps.

• The first Concept Map shows a vague understanding of instructional design and the relation to instructional technology and distance learning.

• I did not fully grasp the concept of instructional design and its relation to the context of instructional theory

• No concept of time was demonstrated• No systematic design was demonstrated (ADDIE)• No approached to building design was demonstrated (grounded

design)• No clear distinction was made with regard to the role of

technology and instructional theory in the 21st century•

Four factors that influenced final concept map

1. I have developed a concise understanding the relationship between instructional design and it’s relation to the context of instructional theory

2. I have grasp the concepts of instructional outcomes and the underlying theories and it’s relation to instructional design due to the readings, assignments and discussion forums

3. I have a constructive understanding of the instructional design process and it’s relation to the learning theories

4. My application of the systematic design process to instructional design, mapped out a clearer picture of instructional design and the relation to instructional technology and distance learning.

Reflections • My knowledge of the field has definitely been enhanced. I

now have a clear understanding of the concepts, application, design and processes of instructional design.

• This assignment allowed me to fully analyse the term instruction and its relation to the instructional design field. I can now distinguish between different instructional methods and approaches and how the theories are applied accordingly.

• I also understand the importance of applying the appropriate instructional strategies/methods when designing instruction and importance of understanding the target audience and leaners need.

• In conclusion this assignment tied in all the principles and objectives of the course and the learning outcomes were definitely achieved!
