TODAY, September 16, is a red-letter day in Davao City

for a special reason. The Metro Davao Medical and Research Center opens today its outpatient clinic and services to the pub-lic.

These include the Laboratory, Diagnostic Radio Imaging, Cardio-vascular and Neurology Unit, and a Pharmacy.

A 50-percent discount on all laboratory tests will be available today

and also big discounts on available medicines. The MDMRC also has free screening on Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) / Ran-dom Blood Sugar (RBS) for the first 50 patients; and also cholesterol screening for the first 50 patients.

A multidisciplinary hospital like no other, it will offer a myriad of health services to Da-bawenyos and health-conscious citizens of neighboring cities and

provinces in Mindanao. The MDMRC is a mod-

ern hospital offering a comprehensive range of medical and paramedical services aside from being primed to conduct future researches. The people behind MDMRC may not be obsessed with being a Mayo Clinic in the future, but it is not wrong for any young medical practitio-ner to make it his/her magnificent obsession of belonging to a world-class facility famous for

innovative and effective treatments. Right now, around 140 doctors have committed to establish their clinics in this cen-ter covering almost every sub specialty of each de-partment.

The doctors are well-trained and possess excellent credentials. Some had undergone fur-ther studies and special training. The center has doctors specializing in aesthetic and anti-aging medicine, hair and scalp

diseases–hair transplant and restoration, gyne-cologic oncology, sleep medicine, hematology, and other specialties of different departments.

There are a total of 109 clinics covering ma-jority of the sub special-ties.

Included in their cen-ter are a spa, diabetes center, dialysis center, and rehabilitation center.

MDMRC also is re-ferred to as a “Health Ser-vice and Wellness Center,”

mainly because they want the hospital and medical center to be an advocate of good and healthy living, apart from giving treat-ment to the sick. What makes the new facility different from others is that it provides proper guidance to people to help them attain a healthy life-style.

Its patients are assured of the following benefits and special services:

FFROM S1MDMRC...Diabetes Ambulatory Care and Wellness Cen-ter

The Diabetes Ambu-latory Care and Wellness Center does not just give treatment to people with diabetes. They also have counseling to the families and relatives of the pa-tient in order for them to fully understand the situ-ation and bearings of the patient.

According to Dr. Mae R. Gallardo, one of the medi-cal internists, the center aims to provide effective management of diabetes

through the full contin-uum of care committed to ameliorate the disease and seeks to deliver a holistic approach to im-prove diabetes outcomes and expunge the disease throughout the city. It will be handled by medical in-ternists trained in ambu-latory diabetes care.

The services offered are Diabetes Education, Family Counseling, Blood Sugar Screening, Basic Foot Café and Foot Ser-vices, Medical Nutrition Therapy, and Consulta-tion.

Rehabilitation ServicesThe hospital also offers

rehabilitation services - the All Care Physical and Well-ness Rehabilitation Services of Long Island, New York by Fernando Tan, Jr. MD, PT. Dr. Fernando Tan will fly from the United States to Davao City for a week-long consultation starting on September 16.

MDMRC PharmacyNear the entrance of the

MDMRC building is the hos-pital’s pharmacy which offers reasonable prices of assured good quality medicines. Pric-es in the pharmacy are com-petitive with those offered by commercial drug stores outside.

MDMRC wants to create the notion that their pharma-cy is not the usual and ordi-nary pharmacy found inside the hospitals.

sured of the quality and accuracy of results from their laboratory. The MDMRC acquired brand new diagnostic machines that will give precise results for better diagnosis.

From September 17 to 23, a 50-percent dis-count on all available laboratory tests will be offered.

The laboratory op-erates from 6:00 in the morning up to 5:00 in the afternoon. All of its sections are well-equipped with high-end

facilities. The sections include Clinical d, Serol-ogy, Hematology, Clinical Microscopy, Microbiol-ogy and Histopathology.

Imaging CenterThere are different

pathways for admitted patients and outside pa-tients towards the x-ray center. This ensures pri-vacy for patients in hos-pital beds or in wheel-chairs who are required to undergo x-ray. Outpa-tients waiting for their turn will not be trauma-tized by other patients who are being rushed to the x-ray center.

Our business name Eco-Edge is a combina-tion of two words which has been our defining strategy since its concep-tion in 2002. Eco stands for economy (reduced prices) while Edge is sim-ply “edge”, that is, advan-tage. Without sacrificing quality, we offer different lines of interior prod-ucts and services that are cost-effective. Thus, our standing motto has been Right Quality at Afford-able Price.Alongside es-tablished brand names, we try to offer alternative brands which have passed industry standards for craftsmanship but cost-effective. Focusing on quality and economy com-bined, Eco-Edge continu-ously grew in sales, assets and number of clients.

Research CenterIt will be the first

time in Davao wherein a hospital aspires to be a leading research center. According to Dr. Yvette Yenco-Tan, the Medical Director, the MDMRC is interested in research, specifically clinical research.

Health care with a heart

The MDMRC is com-

mitted to provide ex-cellent health care ser-vices to its patients–the people in Mindanao and Southeast Asia. Dr. Tan said that the medi-cal research for the development of profes-sion will make the MD-MRC worthy to be pred-icated with “Health care with a heart.”

“The target date for the hospital’s fullswing operation will hope-

fully be before the end of this year after the Department of Health (DOH) and Philippine Health Insurance Cor-poration (PhilHealth) shall have done theirr inspections,” Dr. Tan said.

She also said that the idea of putting up a hospital started in 2010 at the time when Davao City was hit by a dengue epidemic.

According to Samuel Uy, hospital adminis-trator, the hospital that took years in the mak-ing. It carries the spe-cial tagline that he truly believes in and that is, “when you do thing with your heart, you do it sincerely and not on monetary purposes.”

Many local guests are also expected to at-tend the opening today.
