for the advice and inspiration!
Goals of Eden Area Ag Day
Encourage students to appreciate the unique
history and evolution of agriculture and
ranching in this region
Highlight local ranching, food production,
growing, and processing
Share knowledge across generations by teach-
ing students do-it-yourself projects that can
be conducted at home with their families
Catalyze students’ interest in pursuing
agriculture as a viable career pathway
Encourage schools to recognize the value of
ag education as S.T.E.M. (science, technolo-
gy, engineering, and math)
Audience
3rd grade classes from local schools are invited to
Eden Area Ag Day 2016. 3rd grade curriculum
emphasizes community and local history.
Interested elementary schools from the
unincorporated Eden Area (Castro Valley,
Hayward, and San Lorenzo) will be participating.
Ag Day
Students will spend approximately 2 hours at the
event. Upon arrival, student groups will be given a
short introduction and then guided by volunteers
throughout the event area. Groups will visit all the
agricultural exhibitors, hands-on activities, and
demonstrations. Exhibits will all be in the demon-
stration area of Rowell Ranch. Students will be
asked to bring bag lunches.
Transportation
Students will arrive by bus. Ideally, school districts
will provide their own school buses or coordinate
carpooling by parents. In the event that school
buses cannot be provided, we will work with you
on travel accommodations.
