    2. As a class we will discuss how they think people make money. We will define what a jobis and they will all write down at least one job that earns money in their journals.

    3. Students will then gather on the reading rug and I will read themMoney, Money, Honey

Bunny stopping along the way to ask relevant questions about the story. We will discuss thedifferent ways that they have all received money like allowance and such.

    4. Next we will have a class discussion about different jobs and list as many as we can on thechalk/white board.

    5. Lastly each student will be assigned one of the jobs on the board along with a salary of

play money. This money can then be used in the school store where they will have to decidewhat things they need to buy with their earned money.

    6. Ask questions as an ongoing check for understanding

Focus on these questions: What is a job or career?

How do people use jobs to make money?

What are some other ways that people can earn money?

    7. Closure: Discuss key concepts of the many different things that people do to earn money.

    G. Assessment:

What will you use to measure student understanding?

Write a journal entry about a job that you would like to do to earn money.

Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson.

If students are able to identify that, jobs and services, are a way that people earnmoney I will know that they understand the concepts.

    H. Reflection:

    1. Which part of the lesson do you th ink wi ll be the easiest for you to teach?I think the easiest part of the lesson will be teaching them about how jobs are the

most common way people earn money.2. Which part wil l be most challenging for you to teach?

The most challenging part will be to teach them the other routes people take toearn money.

    3. How wil l you foll ow up or extend this lesson?

I could extend this lesson by having them interview one of their parents at homeabout their job and other ways that they earn money.

At this point Im pretty happy with the lesson I think adding a video could behelpful for the more visual learners.

    6. When you were writi ng thi s lesson plan, what was the most dif fi cult part?

The most difficult part was deciding on whether or not to add a video.
