TWISTED TUBE ® heat exchangers come in a variety of sizes, from 3/8” to 1 1/4” in diameter, with material types such as stainless, tanium, brass, monel, carbon steel, duplex, and nickel – just to name a few. One advantage of ulizing TWISTED TUBE ® heat exchangers is the absence of baffle supports, which allow them to have the highest heat transfer coefficient of all tubular heat exchangers (up to 40 percent higher). Recent innovaon and development of new technology – such as the twisted probe – has evolved greatly over the last two years thanks to collaboraon with other industry leaders. The inspecon of shell-and-tube heat exchangers is commonly performed with Eddy Current Tesng (ECT), which can be used on non-magnec (nonferrous) and slightly magnec alloys that are conducve such as: stainless, brass, tanium, hastalloy, Inconnel, etc. Eddy Current Tesng can detect small defects such as stress corrosion cracking and has been successful in the inspecon of such important assets. APPROVED SERVICE PROVIDER MISTRAS Group is the only approved vendor that provides highly qualified, trained Eddy Current technicians for the inspecon of TWISTED TUBE ® heat exchangers ulizing this new inspecon technology. This includes on-site and in-house data analysis, ulizing the most advanced state of the art soſtware for ECT (Eddyfi Ectanesystem and Magnifi® soſtware). This equipment allows the technician to accurately and confidently inspect twisted tubing in real-me, by enabling full-length recording capabilies. This allows data analysis offline to assess damages with the customer. REQUIREMENTS AND SITE PREPARATION • Tubes must be cleared of all I.D. loose scale and deposits • Hydro-blast (10,000 to 25,000 psi / depending on material type) is common pracce • 110 AC power supply • Customer safety requirements in plant or unit • Tube informaon is crical (U-1 Spec. Sheet) to assure proper equipment is used for project Eddy Current Inspecon Services of TWISTED TUBE® Heat Exchangers FEATURES Inspecon of non-ferromagnec tubing, such as stainless, brass, tanium, etc Can disnguish between I.D. and O.D. defect orientaon Defect locaon disnguishes whether defect is in outer crest or lower dip of twisted tube Sensivity to gradual wall loss, corrosion, ping, erosion, cracking, and more Can Inspect .750” up to 1” diameter tubing (smaller or larger tube diameters require special probe design) BEnEfITS Increased efficiency thanks to high rate of inspecon (60-80 tubers per hour) Repeatability allows for comparing historical test results to establish corrosion rates and remaining life Quality work thanks to highly trained and qualified ECT technicians REPORTING A 2D and 3D formal report contains a cover sheet, table of contents, introducon, execuve summary, tube sheet layouts, data summary sheets, detailed data sheets, & graphic printouts.
