The Doctor of Education in the field of Educational Leadership is an online degree designed for current and aspiring leaders in education and other organizations. Students sharpen their ability to address and assess job embedded problems of practice using a variety of theoretical and experiential lenses. This program is structured in a manner that allows students to continue working full-time in their careers. All students write a scholarly Organizational Improvement Plan as part of this program.
Our EdD is the only one of its kind in Canada and is recognized by the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED).

This 30 credit, course-based program is designed to be completed in three years (nine terms) by active and aspiring leaders who wish to:
• build leadership skills for solving problems of practice• develop expert knowledge from research, theory and practice• network with current and future leaders in education• continue working while enhancing credentials

Study and learn in a supportive, tight-knit network of committed learners and professionals who start and finish the degree together.
Understand, synthesize and apply research for optimal educational leadership
Develop professional and academic knowledge that integrates both practice and research, linking theory with inquiry.
Solidify your learning by developing an organizational improvement plan
Build a comprehensive understanding of your organization and how educational leadership principles can enhance decision-making and performance.
Program Design
Students will build knowledge, values and dispositions through courses in leadership, organizational development and change theory, as well as courses specifically developed around the final Organizational Improvement Plan. Students can also choose from one of four job-focused cohorts to tailor their learning:
• K-12 School Leadership• Higher Education• School Leadership in International Contexts• Community Leadership
Admission Requirements
Applications are reviewed until the program is full. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as spaces are limited. Go to our website for final deadline details.
Applicants are required to submit a letter of intent, three letters of recommendation (from academic and/or professional supervisors, or equivalent), a copy of transcripts, a writing sample and a current resume.
For admission to the EdD program, students must possess a Master's degree in Educational Leadership or allied degree. It is preferred that students are currently employed in a leadership position.
Applicants whose first language is not English must furnish evidence of their proficiency in the use of the English language. For more information, see English Proficiency Requirements online.
