Council Corner Greetings from the St. Peter’s ECDC Council

December 2019 The ECDC Advisory Council is the decision-making body of the school, reporting to the St. Peter’s UMC Church Council. The Advisory Council is responsible for organizing fundraisers and overseeing and approving all school policies, programs, activities, fees, tuition rates and operating budget.

ECDC Advisory Council Members

Advisory Council terms run on a calendar year. This means that in January a new class of Advisory Council members will be ready to start their three-year term. Please join us in welcoming Kaitlyn Cole, Beth Harr, Katie Lindsay, Caylor Travers and Liz VanNatta.

This also means that it will be time to say goodbye to those third-year members who have served their terms tirelessly with creativity, dedication and love. To say these four have generously given their time to this school is an understatement! Our heartfelt thanks to: Victoria Clites (2019 Council Chair), Laura Barbier (2019 Fall Fest Chair), Jennifer Hester, and Amy Richards. You were all irreplaceable and valuable members of the Advisory Council! You will be missed!

WHERE IS THE MONEY BEING SPENT?

We had some gracious fundraising efforts this year, which could not have been possible if not for our amazing ECDC staff and parents.

Our Fall Family Festival hit a record high, raising over $16K. The Finance Committee has been busy deciding where that money will be best used. Council is holding onto some money for long-term projects for the school, including a new iron safety fence around the exterior of the school/playground in the near term. However, some money is being put towards items you and your kids will see as improvements now! The sandboxes on the playground have been replaced, new sensory tools are being purchased for classroom use, new equipment for indoor play (rainy day activities), as well as some gifts and wish list items for our fabulous teachers. Fundraising money will also be used to allow our wonderful Music/Motor Skills teacher to further her certification to include early childhood fitness, which will be an amazing benefit for all of our children!

A huge thank you to all who donated food items or monetarily to our Teacher Appreciation-Committee. Those donations allowed us to provide a “Welcome Back” breakfast for all the ECDC staff on their first day back after summer vacation as they were busy preparing for our children to return for the 2019/2020 school year. We were also able to provide an appreciation breakfast to the staff during the Fall semester and we will host another in the Spring.

Thank you for all your support and monetary funding to continue to help this preschool grow, improve and meet the needs of our students and teachers.
