As I indicated this morning, the Commission will regularly update the nation on various issues regarding today’s election. Reports reaching the Commission so far are that voting is progressing well and it’s peaceful in most parts of the country. However, the heavy rains experienced in the morning had affected the voter turnout but after the rains had subsided, in some places the turnout increased as the day progressed. as the poll staff were still waiting for the helicopter to deliver election materials.

• As at 13:00 hours Chomba Polling Station in Rufunsa District and Mpangwa Polling Station in Kabompo District had not yet opened, as the helicopters, which were supposed to deliver the materials had not reached the 2 polling stations due to bad weather. The Commission is following up on the matter.

• Some isolated cases have been reported from Kasama where a few voters had both the NRC and Voters card but were not in the register.

• The reason for this may be that during inspection of the voter register, the voters had not inspected their details on the register of voters.
