    Dear parents and students,

Welcome to your senior year and Economics! I look forward to getting to know each of you and

beginning a fun and productive semester with you! As you know, Economics is a semester long class, after

which you will be transferring over to Government for the remaining semester of the school year. We have

lot of material to get through in a short amount of time, so your focus and participation will be key for

    success in this class.

Since well be spending half a year together, let me introduce myself and tell you a bit about my

background. Im Ms. Hanson and this is my first year teaching this class and in secondary education. The

majority of my 5 years teaching experience has been with K 6thstudents, but Im excited to begin working

with older students. I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Japanese from California State University,

Fullerton and also received my teaching credential in Social Studies there. After I graduated, I spent a year

teaching English to elementary students in Japan, which was a fun life experience that I learned a lot from.

In my spare time I love to watch movies (Im particularly fond of old classic films), read (I love Sherlock

Holmes and lots of crime/mystery fiction), and spend time with my friends and family. I also love to travel

besides having lived in Japan, Ive also been to Europe twice and I look forward to hopefully visiting many

    more places in the future.

Parents, I believe that regular communication is another key component for your childs success in

this class. I will regularly update this classs information in Aeries, so you will be able to keep track of your

childs grades and any upcoming assignments/projects that are due. If you ever need to contact me, you ma

email me at any time, and if necessary we can set up a time to have a parent teacher conference. I will do

everything I can to make myself available to discuss your childs progress.

Again, I look forward to spending the semester with you!
