Statistics• School helps teach innovation in pedagogy,
curriculum and assessment, grounded in an idea that aims to make school relevant and engaging for young students. (Bahr and Pendergast, 2007, p.204)
• Studies show that students who plan on enrolling into tertiary study were more engaged than those who planned to leave school and go to work.(NSW DET, 2006, p. 212 - 213)
• New South Wales middle years consist of years 5 – 6 and 7 – 8, the transition between primary and high school. There has been a revised syllabus for years 7 – 10 and there is now statewide testing for both literacy and numeracy(Bahr and Pendergast, 2007, p. 211)
