    3. Creation of new tourism products

In the recent years, Greece had not an activepresence on international markets through thedevelopment of national tourism products forseveral categories of tourists even though it has

a great potential to develop new tourismproducts such as: agro-tourism, fishing tourism, etc. If authorities of Samos promote thesetravel programs at international level, it willattract different segments of tourists, butwithout clear evidence of one of them andwithout supporting by national and local tourismpolicy ( Eg. To support investments in tourism)it will be difficult to put into practice.

    Weaknesses

Poor development of tourist services insmall cities. If on the island's big cities thereare various ways of entertainment: cinemas, bars, clubs in smaller cities or tourist resorts, such services are found only partial. It is aweakness, which once removed will developparticular industries, ensuring the harmoniousdevelopment of tourist areas.

Lack of infrastructure is one of theweaknesses of Samos, a island'sdisadvantage not only in tourism but in othersectors too.

Lack of investment to exploit natural resources ofthe island and to develop new touristic products will

have negative effects on tourism and residentpopulation. In fact, natural resources and tourismshould be mutually supportive. This cooperation canbe achieved by involving both the government sectorand private sector in a mutually beneficial partnership.

As a promotion, Samos has not created a clear andstrong international market because it has not adopteda systematic and sustained policy to attract foreigntourists. That is why, foreigners interested in Samos

have a confusing picture in the minds of. Promotionneeds to be strong, concerted, to present the elementsthat differentiate Samos from other islands, must havea unique element of attraction that will encouragemany foreign tourists to visit Samos.

    Opportunities The geopolitical position

which Samos has, makes a great

advantage over other islans.Samos is located near thewestern of Turkey, which meansthat is like between Europe andAsia. This advantage can bedeveloped in terms of tourismfrom the perspective of rest andrelaxation by relatively small

distances between Samos andTurkey where are also manytourists.

Samos safetycompared withcountries from Europe receiving

tourists, may be an opportunitythat can be operated inconditions in which terroristattacks were felt in countries likeTurkey and Spain, both majordestinations for coastal tourism.
