    Message o 25 September 2014:

Dear Children, Today too I callyou, that also you may be like the starswhich by their splendour give lightand beauty to others so they mayrejoice.

My children: may you too be theradiance, beauty, joy and peace andespecially prayer for all those who arefar from my love and from the love ofmy Son Jesus.

My children, witness your faith andyour prayer with joy; with the joy ofthe faith that is in your hearts; andpray for peace which is a precious giftfrom God. Thank you for respondingto my call.

    Be Splendour and Beauty!

We, children of God and of Mary, arecalled to shine with the divine light. We arecalled to be beauty, i.e. mirrors of God's

Beauty. We are called to be joy and peace, i.e.mirrors of God's consolation. We are calledespecially to be prayer, i.e. bearers ofcomunication and comunion with God.

In short, our blessed Mother calls us tobe saints. Is that asking too much? Not at all.It is God's will, as St. Paul reminds us in hisletter to the Ephesians: "Blessed be the Godand Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hasblessed us in Christ with every spiritualblessing in the heavenly places, just as hechose us in Christ before the foundation ofthe world to be holy and blameless beforehim in love. He destined us for adoption ashis children through Jesus Christ, accordingto the good pleasure of his will" (Eph 1:3-5).

Consoled by and grateful for Mary'slovely message, and encouraged by theApostle's words, let us say with our blessedMother: "Behold, I am the servant of theLord. Be it done unto me according to Thyword" (Lk 1:38); and with our Lord Jesus:"Father, I have come to do your will" (Heb10:7-9).

If we try to put these words into practicein our daily lives we will bring joy and peaceto others. So let us pray, with the daily

Rosary and with prayer of the heart, forthat peacepromised to us by Jesus: "Peace Ileave with you; my peace I give to you. I donot give to you as the world gives. Do not letyour hearts be troubled, and do not let thembe afraid" (Jn 14:27).

Peace and joy in Jesus and Mary!

Message to Mirjana, 2 October 2014:

Dear Children, with motherly love Ibeseech you: love one another! May yourhearts have love for your Heavenly Fatherand then for you neighbour, above allearthly things, as my Son original desired!

My dear children, can you not recognisethe signs of the times? Can you notrecognise how all that is around you, andall that is happening, is because there is nolove? Comprehend that salvation is foundwithin true values. Accept the might ofthe Heavenly Father, love Him and respectHim! Walk in the footsteps of my Son.

My children, my dear apostles, youalways come to me because you arethirsty. You thirst for peace, for love andfor happiness. Drink from my hands! My hands offer you my Son Who is theWellspring of clear water. He will bring

your faith back to life and purify yourhearts, because my Son loves with a pureheart, and pure hearts love my Son. Onlypure hearts are humble and have firmfaith. I ask for such hearts of you, mychildren.

My Son told me that I am the motherof the entire world; I ask those of you whoaccept me as such, to help me with yourlife, your prayer and your sacrifice, thatall my children may accept me as Mother,so I may lead them to the Wellspring ofclear water. Thank you.

My dear children, when your Pastorsoffer you the Body of my Son with theirblessed hands, always give thanks in yourhearts to my Son for His sacrifice and forthe Pastors which He continually givesyou.

    Message, 25 October 2014:

Dear Children, Pray in this timeof grace and seek the intercession ofall the saints who are already in thelight. From day to day may they bean example and encouragement foryou on the way of your conversion. My children, be aware that yourlife is short and passing. herefore, yearn for eternity and prepare yourhearts in prayer. I am with you andI intercede before my Son for eachof you, especially for those who haveconsecrated themselves to me and tomy Son. hank you for responding tomy call.

Prepare Your Hearts! We know, or we think we know

what prayer is. However, the definitionin the Compendium of the Catechismof the Catholic Church is: "Prayer is theraising of ones mind and heart to God,

or the petition of good things from himin accord with his will. It is always thegift of God who comes to encounter man.Christian prayer is the personal and livingrelationship of the children of God withtheir Father who is infinitely good, withhis Son Jesus Christ, and with the HolySpirit who dwells in their hearts." (534)

We see how prayer is communionbetween creature and Creator. It is afont of grace through which God's Lifenourishes our human life. Prayer is a giftof God that we must desire, seek, receive,

practise and safeguard. Prayer cannotbe reduced to an activity, because prayertranscends activity.

There are many beautiful prayers, first of al l the prayer taught to us by JesusChrist himself (Our Father), and manyothers. But if the heart is not connectedto our lips when we pray; if prayer ismerely lip sevice, then it risks becomingarid formulae.

Our Lady points out the need forprayer as a way to prepare the heart forEternity. And as she assures us of herpresence, she also encourages us to seek

the help of the Saints. We recall that Our Lady gave Jelena

two prayers with which we can entrustourselves to Her Immaculate Heart andto the Lord's Sacred Heart (dated 28November 1983).

Peace and joy in Jesus and Mary!

    POPE FRANCIS

    Never ForgetAbandoned Souls!

Dear brothers and sisters, good day!

Yesterday we celebrated the Solemnityo All Saints.[...] It is a time when many

visit the cemetery which is a "placeo repose" while waiting or the final

awakening. It is lovely to think that it willbe Jesus Himself who will awaken us. Itwas Jesus who revealed that the death othe body is similar to being asleep romwhich He will awaken us. With this aithwe pause - even spiritually - at the graveso all those who have loved us and donegood to us. oday, however, we are calledto remember [with prayer] everyone; alsothose whom no one remembers.

Let us remember the victims o warand violence; the many "little" onesthroughout the world who are oppressedby hunger and poverty; let us rememberthe anonymous whose mortal remains arelaid to rest in communal ossuaries. Let usremember our brethren, killed becausethey were Christians; and all those whosacrificed their lives to serve others.

Church radition has always urgedprayer for the deceased, in particularby offering the Eucharistic Celebrationor them: it is the best spiritual help thatwe can give to their souls, particularly tothose who are the most orsaken.

Remembering the dead, caring ortheir graves and prayers o suffrage, are

the testimony o confident hope, rooted inthe certainty that death does not have thelast wordon human existence, or man isdestined to a lie without limits, which hasits roots and its ulfilment in God.

    Holiness in Little Tings

On the subject of the call to be saints,Pope Francis offers this extremely

    practical advice:

First o all, we must bear clearly in

mind that sanctity is not something wecan procure or ourselves. Sanctity is agif, it is a gif granted to us by the LordJesus. Sanctity is a gif offered to all, noone excluded. We are all called to besaints!

Many times we are tempted to thinkthat sainthood is reserved only to thosewho have the opportunity to break awayrom daily affairs in order to dedicatethemselves exclusively to prayer. But itis not so! Sanctity is something greater, deeper [than what we can imagine]. Eachin the conditions and the state o his orher lie:

Are you consecrated? Be a saintby living out your donation and yourministry with joy.

Are you married? Be a saint byloving and taking care o your husband oryour wie, as Christ did or the Church.

    2

Are you an unmarried baptizedperson? Be a saint by carrying outyour work with honesty and competenceand by offering time in the service o yourbrothers and sisters.

But, father, I work in a factory;I workas an accountant, only with numbers; youcant be a saint there....

Yes, yes you can! Tere, whereyou work, you can become a saint. Godgives you the grace to become holy. Godcommunicates himsel to you. Always,in every place, one can become a saint, that is, one can open onesel up to thisgrace, which works inside us and leads usto holiness.

Are you a parent or a grandparent? Be a saint by passionately teachingyour children or grandchildren to knowand to ollow Jesus. And it takes so muchpatience to do this: to be a good parent, agood grandather, a good mother, a good

grandmother; it takes so much patienceand with this patience comes holiness: byexercising patience.

Are you a catechist, an educatoror avolunteer? Be a saint by becoming a visiblesign o Gods love and o his presencealongside us.

Tis is it: every state of life leads toholiness, always! In your home, on thestreet, at work, at church, in that momentand in your state o lie, the path tosainthood has been opened.

Dont be discouraged to pursue thispath. It is God alone who gives us thegrace. Te Lord asks only this: that webe in communion with Him and at theservice o our brothers and sisters.

    AWAIING CHRISMASWIH MARY

    Paul VI Apost. Exhort. Marialiscultus (I, A 4- 5)

By living in the liturgy the spirit oAdvent by thinking about the inexpres-sible love with which the Virgin Motherawaited her Son, the aithul are invitedto take her as a model and to preparethemselves to meet the Saviour who is tocome" ... with prayer and joyul praise.

he Christmas season is a prolongedcommemoration o the divine, virginaland salviic motherhood o her whose"inviolate virginity brought the Saviourinto the world." In act, on the Solemnityof the Birth of Christ the Church bothadores the Saviour and venerates Hisglorious Mother. On the Epiphany, whenshe celebrates the universal call to salva-tion, the Church contemplates the BlessedVirgin, the true Seat o Wisdom and true

Mother o the King, who presents to theWise Men, or their adoration, the Rede-emer o all peoples (c. Mt. 2:11). On theFeast o the Holy Family o Jesus Maryand Joseph, the Church meditates withproound reverence on the holy lie led inthe house at Nazareth by Jesus, the Son oGod and Son o Man, Mary His Mother, and Joseph the just man (c. Mt. 1:19).

... [I]t seems to us that the attention oall should be directed towards the resto-red Solemnity o Mary the holy Mothero God. his celebration, placed on 1st

January in conormity with the ancientindication o the liturgy o the City oRome, is meant to commemorate thepart played by Mary in this mystery ofsalvation. It is meant also to exalt the sin-gular dignity which this mystery bringsto the 'holy Mother... through whom wewere ound worthy to receive the Authoro lie.' It is likewise a itting occasionor renewing adoration o the newbornPrince o Peace, or listening once more tothe glad tidings o the angels (c. Lk. 2:14),and for imploring from God, throughthe Queen of Peace, the supreme gift ofpeace.

It is or this reason that, in the happyconcurrence o the Octave o Christmasand the irst day o the year, we have in-stituted the World Day o Peace, an oc-casion that is gaining increasing supportand already bringing orth ruits o peacein the hearts o many.

The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary(Mary enters the Temple) 21 November

Advent's intention is to awaken themost profound and basic emotional

memory within us; namely the memoryof God who became a Child.

    Ecclesial Dimensions of the Message

he apparitions o Medjugorje havebeen going on or years by now, and themessage connected to them is becomingclearer as time passes. One o the mostsigniicant elements o the message isits ecclesial dimension which assumesdierent tones according to the liturgicalseason and local traditions tied to theaith. It is clear that Marian apparitionsdo not orm the Chruch, but they do helpher growth, and strengthen [the aith]o those in the place where they occur, and help to irradiate a special light thattranscends time and place.

Ater Lourdes and Fatima, it is seenthat also Medjugorje assumed this same'structural' characteristic ater the start omessages to the parish (01.03.1984). In theearly months Our Lady asked or manyto come in that the Parish which she

chose, and to pray together and journeytogetheron the way o conversion. Andthis greatly resembles the irst Christiancommunities who were "all constantlydevoting themselves to prayer togetherwith Mary the mother o Jesus" (Acts1:14).

So to all those who make up God'sPeople, the Virgin Mary asks that theypray to "love the Church" (25.02.1998),and to "work in the Church, not withwords or thoughts, but by one's example"(25.02.1993). his community was calledto take a step orward which wouldstrengthen them in the aith, in raternaland reciprocal love, beginning with theamily; a step which would assume amissionary dimension (06.06.1985).

Our Lady at Medjugorje has alwaysgiven particular priority to prayer in thefamily. One o the visionaries (Ivanka)was asked to pray precisely or theamilies. Communion and unity are atthe core o the messages. In various waysOur Lady has spoken o "unity of thefamily of God"(02.02.2011), calling themto "become one people" while pointing

out that "as individuals we cannot stopevil"(02.08.2011; 02.11.2013).In this Church, which is called to gather

together as a single people (ekklesia) thereare various gits, charisms and ministries(1 Cor 12,7), and beginning rom the1980s one can see that within the messagethere are reerences to these.

So we see how Medjugorje, ratherthan promoting personalisms, illustratespersonal responsibilities or all: i.e.visionaries, prayer groups, parishioners, pilgrims rom around the world, theFranciscans o the Parish, consecratedpersons, the clergy...

In particular to Priests, Our Ladyhasdedicated beautiul words, especially atthe end o the messages given on the 2ndof the month through Mirjana. o thevisionary, Ivan, Our Lady has given thespecial intention o praying or priests.

    Medjugorje and the Church

Know and Fight the DevilPope Francis recently described the devil

as one who is "envious and astute; whohates you, embroils you, tempts you andthen justifies himself," whilst also warning:"Christians must not be naive; they have toknow him and fight him!"

Following is an excerpt o an interviewo Fr. Livio Fanzaga of Radio Maria, who

has written several books on the matter.LF: "Pope Francis has spoken o the

devil since the beginning o his Pontiicatebecause he knows that thedevil is the worst danger orthe lock. When the Popecelebrates Mass at SantaMarta, he does not exempthimsel rom commentingthose passages where theLord Jesus unmasks andights the Evil one."

    Q. We live in a societythat no longer speaks of thedevil, that considers himas something abstract, orold hat. Pope Francis saidinstead, that "the fight againstevil is a reality in the day-to-day life of a Christian, withinthe heart, one's life, family,

Among the Pastors o the Church, thereare special reerences to the Holy Father -to his person and to his magisterium - butalso by means o a particular harmonybetween the contents o the messages andthe teachings o the Popes to the Church.

In the light o the messages one can seea Church which is attentiveand "responds

to the call" which comes rom on high; aChurch that responds as a people unitedto its pastors who in turn pray, guide, andwork with - or and in - the Love o God.Above all, this Love (Charity) is extendedto "all those with material and spiritualneed" (25.02.1997) thereby assuming hermissionary dimension.

In this Church, "all those who have saidyes" (25.01.2011) take upon themselves atask which is primarily o aith, love andprayer o the heart, and by doing so theycontribute to the "great plan o God'swhich He is leading through Medjugorje"(25.06.2007) and these experience theullness o the Church; they belong toa Body, to a amily, as they taste theruits which are typical o the tree oMedjugorje.

Says Pope Francis: "Faith becomesoperative in the Christian on the basis othe git received, the love which attractsour hearts to Christ ... For those who havebeen transormed in this way, a new wayo seeing opens up, aith becomes light ortheir eyes. (Enciclica Lumen Fidei, 22).

    Marco Vignati,

    Com. Casa di Maria Roma

people and churches...LF: "Satan is the sworn enemy o God

and o man, rom whom Jesus delivered usby His coming in our midst and with theproclamation o His Kingdom and withHis redeeming Passion. Satan is present inthe lie o people whom he tempts, wantingthem to sin by presenting evil as though itwere good, or as St. Catherine o Siena putit: Satan dons the colours of good.

His deadly weapon is temptation, withwhich the inernal serpent tries to destroyus. oday he tries to deceive people withatheism and materialism. hrough these, the rebel angel wants to put himsel in theplace o God."

    Q. Today, people are afaid of sickness, ofold age, of poverty... but they are not afraidof the devil. Why is this?

LF: "Satan doesn't righten becausehe camouflages himsel and he hasthus managed to convince many, evenChristians, that he doesn't exist. He hasalso managed to erase the fear of sin, which today is presented as good, butinstead it is a deadly poison. his happensbecause the aith is weakening."

    Q. Your reported that Our Lady atMedjugorje spoke about this being the timein which the devil is acting with all hisstrength and might.

LF: "Our Lady said that since Satan isreed o his chains, we must consecrateourselves to her Immaculate Heart andto the Sacred Heart of her Son. he crisiso aith, the apostasy, the dissolution othe amily and the spread o violence areclear signs that the Prince o this world isunleashing an epic battle."

    Q.In 1972 Paul VI delivered a startling

sermon in which he spoke of the smoke ofSatan entering the Church through somefissures. Today, af ter forty years, has thatsmoke been dissipated, or has it penetrated

    into other rooms?

LF: "he crisis o the aitho many Christians, whichhas increased since then,is the sign o advancingdarkness. We should notbe fearful, but we must acethe trials with decisivenessand irm aith."Q. Is there a messagy of Our

Lady in which she offers away for us to be protectedfrom him?LF: "Our Lady said: 'Faceand defeat Satan with theRosary in your hands'."

Dear Children, I am with you withthe blessing of my Son; with those of youwho love me and who strive to followme. I desire being Mother also to thoseof you who do not accept me. To all ofyou I open my heart full of love, and Ibless you with my motherly hands.

I am a mother who understandsyou. I lived your life and experiencedyour sufferings and joys. You whoknow sorrow understand my sorrowand suffering because of my childrenwho do not permit the light of my Sonto illuminate them, my children wholive in darkness.

This is why I need you, you whohave been illuminated by the light andhave comprehended the truth. I callyou to adore my Son so that your soul

may grow and reach true spirituality. My apostles, it is then that you willbe able to help me! To help me meansto pray for those who have not come toknow the love of my Son. In praying forthem you show my Son that you loveHim and follow Him.

My Son has promised me that evilwill never win, because you, the soulsof the just, are here; you who strive tosay your prayers with the heart; youwho offer your sorrow and sufferingto my Son; you who comprehend thatlife is only the bat of an eyelid; you whoyearn for the Kingdom of Heaven. Allthis makes you my apostles and leadsyou towards the triumph of my heart.

Therefore, my children, purify yourhearts and adore my Son. Thank you.

    The Triumph of Mary's Heart

Our Blessed Mother brings us the blessingof her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Thisblessing is for each of us: those who await andaccept it, and those who do not accept it. "To

all of you I open my heart full of love, andI bless you with my motherly hands." OurLady's words can be counted on. What shesays, she does. And if we receive them withan open heart, the way of conversion willsurely open.

The way of conversion is never smooth;and the initial enthusiasm is not enough toensure we reach the end. It takes perseverance, hope and faith. Is this not the reason thatthe events of Medjugorje are still current? The extraordinary duration of this Marianevent has an explanation. It is because ourtimes are decisive times for the salvation ofindividuals and of the world. So take courage! The triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart iscloser to today than it was yesterday, and OurLady seems to express the same thing whenshe says: "All this makes you my apostles andleads you towards the triumph of my heart."

Peace and joy in Jesus and Mary! NQ

Exactly thirty years ago, on 21stNovember 1984, ater his irst pilgrimageto Medjugorje, Fr. Angelo Muttireportedon the news and messages o Medjugorjeto his Parish in the parish bulletin. hisbecame the irst "issue" o the originalItalian "ECO di Medjugorje." From thereit quickly spread throughout Italy as more

and more people requested copies o hisbulletin; and rom there to the world.he irst lines o that irst ECO were:

MEDJUGORJE21.11.1984 (1) "It is by Mary that the

salvation of the world has begun, and itis by Mary that it must be consummated"(Monfort's Treatise, no. 49).

Dear brothers and sisters, It is Gracewhich calls us to share the mission ofour blessed Mother. I know you desirehearing about our recent pilgrimage toMedjugorje, the place where Our Lady

has come to show her children the waythat leads to her Son."

No one at the time could have imaginedhow that irst parish bulletin was justthe start o an extraordinary missionary

journey o grace, and all because Fr.Angelo and his parishioners generouslyresponded to the Queen o Peace withtheir ownyes.

he Echo always has been a veryhumble bulletin: a ew pages in black andwhite. In its early years it was produced

with makeshit means, entirely ree ocharge in the rooms o a very small andpoor Parish in the remote countryside oMantua. Yet, in just a ew years 800,000copies o just the ive major languageswere being printed and distributed tocountries in all ive continents - still reeo charge, thanks to the many volunteersrom the Parish. [Donations receivednecessarily covered costs o printing andmailing.] Echo was also being producedlocally in other countries, and thus beingtranslated into a total o 16 languages. So,through this very humble instrument, thegrace o Medjugorje was reaching out tothe world.

oday, ater the many consolationsthere have been also great trials; but it isthe Board's wish to continue the originalmission o the Echo with its garb osimplicity, and trust in Providence.

Being aware o our inadequacy onlymakes us more open to seeing the hando Providenceand the grace which Maryworks as she opens up new ways. Sincewe are deeply convinced that the work oEcho includes and depends also on our

dear readers who have been touched bythis particular call o Mary's, we make anAPPEALor your support and prayer, thatthe mission o Echo may continue and beresponsive to the Heart o the Queen oPeace.

    Love and Affection

Dear riends o the Queen o Peacewho read me here in these pages othe Echo o Medjugorje which weappreciate so much. Remember this:Our Lady speaks to us. She really doesspeaks to us, on a monthly basis, andeven several times a month.

he Queen o Peace brings us"news"; but more than this She bringsto us love and aection. We perceivethe pulsating o her inlamed heartas she tells us how much she lovesnot only us but everyone, and howshe wishes everyone had an openheart so as to receive her Love and herrevelations. Our Lady also insists onsaying how we are important to her.And indeed, she call us her Apostles.
