Place a strip of pink glow tape to the back side of the tool on the 45 degree line as shown. Place a strip of yellow glow tapeon the opposite 45 degree line. Full Squedge pieces• Align the yellow 45˚ line of the Squedge

30 tool to the strip set seam.• Cut six full A1 pieces.

Partial A Squedge pieces • Align the pink 45˚ line of the Squedge 30

tool to the strip set seam. • Mark in the red angled slots with a

mechanical pencil.• Cut six A3 pieces.

Partial B Squedge pieces• Align the pink 45˚ line to the strip set seam.

• Mark in the green angled slot with a mechanical pencil.

• Cut six B1 pieces.

Strip Sets A• Sew two strip sets joining 5" C strips to the 4 ¾" A strips. Press.• Sew two strip sets joining 5" C strips to the 4 ¼" A strips. Press.

Strip Sets B• Sew two strip sets joining 5" C strips to the 4 ¾" B strips. Press.

• Rotate the tool and align the opposite pink 45˚ line of the Squedge 30 tool to the strip set seam.

• Cut six full A2 pieces.

• Align the opposite yellow 45˚ line of the Squedge 30 tool to the strip set seam.

• Mark in the green angled slots with a mechanical pencil.

• Cut six A4 pieces.

• Align the yellow 45˚ line to the strip set seam. • Mark in the red angled slot with a

mechanical pencil. • Cut six B2 pieces.

Full Hexagon Center Applique

Half HexagonCenter Applique

Blocks• Arrange the Squedge pieces in order.• Sew the pieces to make six half blocks.

• Sew two half blocks together to make one full star block.• Stabilize the center opening with a scrap of freezer paper. • Stabilize the bottom opening on the remaining half blocks

with a scrap of freezer paper.

Appliques• Trace one hexagon applique and four half hexagon appliques

onto freezer paper. • Iron the freezer paper pieces to the fabric.• Allow ¼" of extra fabric around the edge of the paper for

turning. Cut five fabric appliques.• Wrap the fabric around the paper. Hold the fabric in place with

a basting glue stick.• Applique hexagon and half hexagon pieces over the openings

in the blocks and half blocks.

Border• Measure 4" from the edge of the 3" x 56" border strip.• Pin this point to the edge of the runner.• Begin stitching ¼" from the upper edge and stop stitching

¼" from the lower edge to allow for mitering.• Repeat for the other side.• Repeat for top and bottom using the 3" x 24" strips.

Assembly• Sew two half square blocks to two sides of

the center star block.

• Join the top and side borders, mitering at a 45 degree angle.

Layer, quilt and bind. Enjoy!
