ECCO RECEPTOR ® TECHNOLOGY ECCO RECEPTOR technology is an integrated system supporting the foot in its natural performance through the different movement phases. RECEPTOR is inspired by walking and therefore designed to provide anatomical stability and cushioning while supporting an efficient walking motion. ORIGIN OF THE CONCEPT The RECEPTOR technology was invented in 2001 aſter a close collaboration between ECCO and scientists study- ing the human walking motion. It is based on the premise that human motion is very dynamic and complex – every time you take one step, your foot takes three. Thus provid- ing the correct support and stability will ensure a comfort- able walking motion. Almost all walkers are heel strikers. Therefore, the round- ed heel is crucial in allowing for comfort, stability and an efficient start of the step to generate an optimal push-off. Combined with flex zones and a special shank the RE- CEPTOR technology is perfectly suited for ECCO’s perfor- mance walking products. RECEPTOR VS. BIOM Where BIOM is inspired by and based on running research, RECEPTOR is inspired by and based on walking research. BIOM has a high performance focus and is determined to get the best performance, by allowing the most nat- ural movement. RECEPTOR follows the foot’s anatomy while providing enough stability, cushioning and room for comfort. The BIOM concepts almost solely relies on the foots natural capabilities to provide comfort and stability where the RECEPTOR technology takes a more conserv- ative approach and supports and guides the foot to a comfortable and efficient strike pattern. The RECEPTOR shank and forefoot flex grooves are based on the foot’s anatomy, allowing for a natural foot move- ment. The RECEPTOR shank is stiffer, longer and has more surface in the forefoot than any BIOM shank, in order to increase stability during transition and push off. The RE- CEPTOR last shape is also anatomical, but more roomy and comfortable in comparison to the fully anatomical shapes of BIOM. MAIN FEATURES 20 DEGREE HEEL STRIKE ANGLE encourages the optimal heel strike angle during walking, naturally rolling forward into the transition phase. INTERNAL MIDFOOT SHANK delivers anatomical support during midstance, stabilising the transition from heel strike to push off. DUAL FLEX GROOVES anatomically placed to support nat- ural forefoot flexibility and give comfort, while providing a more efficient push-off during walking. DESCRIPTION

A full-length suite of technologies based around natural heel strike, smooth transition and comfortable striding. Designed to guide the foot to an optimal 20 degree angle of ground attack, the RECEPTOR technology platform also integrates an advanced comfort shank for greater walking stability. Named for super-sensitive nerve endings in the foot, this technology delivers excellent all-around comfort.

ORiGiN Of THE CONCEPTThe RECEPTOR technology was invented in 2001 after a close collaboration between ECCO and scientists study-ing the human walking motion. It is based on the premise that human motion is very dynamic and complex – every time you take one step, your foot takes three. Thus provid-ing the correct support and stability will ensure a comfort-able walking motion.

Almost all walkers are heel strikers. Therefore, the round-ed heel is crucial in allowing for comfort, stability and an efficient start of the step to generate an optimal push-off. Combined with flex zones and a special shank the RE-CEPTOR technology is perfectly suited for ECCO’s perfor-mance walking products.
