letting it FlYLast season the Soaring Eagles launched 493 three-point attempts, con-necting 129 times for an average of 5.2 three-point makes per game and a 5.4 average in Empire 8 Conference games. Elmira’s 5.2 makes per game was second most in the conference and their 5.4 makes in conference play led the Empire 8.

FirSt in the e8Aside from shooting the ball well from beyond the arc, the Elmira women found a great deal of success shooting from the charity stripe. The Soar-ing Eagles averaged a conference best 13.3 made free throws per contest.

FiVe Or leSSElmira had nine games last season that were decided by five points or less. The Soaring Eagles went 3-6 in those games. However, Elmira figured out how to close out those tight games as all their last three games that were decided by five or less resulted in wins.

SCOring OptiOnSElmira’s one-two punch of Jessica Zoltowski ’14 and Maria Thannhauser ’14 will be looked upon to carry the load offensively again for the Soaring Eagles. Last season the two classmates combined for 713 points, account-ing for 49.76% of Elmira’s scoring.

SCOring ChaMpTwo-time Empire 8 All-Conference First Team selection Jessica Zoltowski ’14 not only led Elmira, but the entire Empire 8 Conference in points per game with 16.9. She was one of only three players in the Empire 8 to average 16 points or more.

SCOring title in SightAfter 423 points last season, Jess Zoltowski ’14 boasts a career total of 1,082. She is 376 points away from becoming Elmira’s all-time points leader, eclipsing EC’s current all-time leader, Mary Kay Babcock ’82.

SeriOuSlY, eVerY MaJOr CategOrYZoltowski had a monster season in 2012-13. She singlehandedly led the Soaring Eagles in every major statistical category. Points Per Game: 16.9 – Rebounds Per Game: 7.7 – Assists Per Game: 2.0 – Steals Per Game: 2.5 – Blocks Per Game: 0.6.

lOOking FOr her third StraightZoltowski has led the Soaring Eagles in scoring in each of the last two seasons. She will be looking to become the first player in Elmira College history to lead the Purple and Gold in scoring in three consecutive sea-sons since Mary Kay Babcock ’82 did it four times in a row from 1979-83.

SCOuting the ValiantSManhattanville enters the 2013-14 season after going 10-14 the previous year. The Valiants will be missing their leading scorer from a season ago in Taylor Wilson ‘13, who, led the Freedom Conference with a league best 19.0 points per game. However, Manhattanville does return the Free-dom Conference’s leading rebounder in junior forward Alyson Caiazzo.
