WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE BANKSTOWN IEC HEAD TEACHER
Dear Students and Families
This is the last Newsletter for 2017 and what a year it has been! Our school, our Intensive
English Centre has been a very busy place with the highest number of students ever,
reaching 185 in Term 3 as well as with so many teaching staff members and different
subjects being taught!
BIEC is like a second family for many people who come here. Some people say it actually is
their second family because there is a lot of care, warmth and dedication by our Principal
Ms Doyle, our IEC teachers, our Counsellor our Support staff and our Office staff.
The Semester 2 (Term 3 & 4) reports are ready! All students should have received their
report this week but our newer students in Term 4 did not get a report because they are
still settling into the school. For the students who got their report, this will show how they
have done in class the second half of the year and especially during Term 4. Please read
your report carefully, talk to your teachers and see how you can do even better in your
subjects. This is a good time to reflect and take responsibility for your learning. Most
student reports have been very positive and that has made us all very happy!
Term 4 GRADUATION ASSEMBLY
The IEC will be organising the Term 4 Graduation Assembly on Wednesday 6
December from 12.00pm in the School Hall and this is a very important time for our 80+
leaving students. It is the time we say goodbye and thank you to the students who will be
graduating from the IEC as they go to Bankstown Senior College or to another High
School or TAFE. We would like to wish these students “Good luck” and wish that they
always study hard because getting a good education is the key to…success! Please stay in
contact with us and let us know how things are going! We look forward to this special and
emotional day, our biggest Graduation Assembly ever!
2017 INTER-IEC ORATORY SHOWCASE
Congratulations to our 3 fantastic students Alieu TURAY, Marwah AL-KHAMESSI &
Toma TAMO in 3C our IEC at this year’s Inter-IEC Oratory Showcase at Chester Hill IEC
on Thursday 30 November. This was the 3rd time Bankstown participated in this event and
we did extremely well as all 3 students started off the show and they made excellent
speeches, as everyone said. Alieu’s speech was “My story” and Marwah and Toma spoke
about “Ambitions”. They were winners!! Thank you to Ms Palivos for helping these
students for many hours to get them ready!
THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING STAFF We would like to say thank you very much for the extremely hard work to the following
teachers and Support staff who will not be here next year because of the large number of
exiting students this term.
Thank you to Ms Tyrrell, Ms Parmaxidou, Mr Orlandini, Ms Costa, Ms Ang, Ms
Nguyen & Ms Kyriakidis for your contribution to the IEC! We hope to see you though
again sometime soon!
