Hey there Key Clubbers! ThisThis summer has truly been a blast! From Key Club Inter-national Convention in Washington to a Kids Against Hunger meal packaging event in Peterborough, ON at Kiwanis District Convention, I have experienced a summer that will not be forgotten. I hope you’ve all had the same. As previously mentioned, I was able to attend the Key Club International Convention in Washington D.C. at the beginning of my summer. With over 1500 Key Club members from all over the world packed into one hotel, it’s no question that the weekend was filled with tremendous energy. The Eastern Canada District was fortunate enough to team up with the Mighty Michigan DistrictDistrict and tour Washington; we got to stay for a whole 10 days! One of the highlights of this trip included the DC Million Meal packaging event, a Kids Against Hunger meal packaging project which the Eastern Canada District and Michigan District led to package over 1 million kids meals! If you weren’t able to attend International Convention this year, I would definitely recommendrecommend going to next year’s ICON in Anaheim, California (DISNEYLAND!!!).One of the events taking place at ICON is the election of the new International Board for Key Club Internation-al. Key Clubbers from all over the world ran for the posi-tions of International President, International Vice Presi-dent and International Trustee. With over 30 candi-dates running for a position, the International Board was elected and featured 1 International President, International Vice President and 11 International Trust-ees. The Eastern Canada District is very fortunate to have Roshni Chandwani from the Texas-Oklahoma Dis-trict as our International Trustee for the 2013-2014 Key Club year!In addition to the Key Club International Convention, I also had the pleasure of attending the Kiwanis Con-vention for the Eastern Canada & Caribbean District, which was held in Peterborough, ON this year.

During the event, we were able to network with many Kiwanians and share ideas of how to fund-raise and serve our communities. Additionally, Key Clubbers and Circle K members ran two Miracle Minute events that raised over $900! It was empow-ering to see the strength a group of people can have when they all work together. At Convention, Kiwanians and Key Clubbers also conducted an-other Kids Against Hunger Meal packaging event, in which over 15 000 kids meals were packaged in a mere 2 hours! Although my summer was filled with many other ac-tivities, ICON and KCON (Kiwanis Convention) really stood out, because they were a way for me to gather many ideas to bring and share with my Key Club. As we get ready for school, it is imperative that we take all of these great ideas and begin or-ganizing projects that will help build our homes, schools and communities. Be sure to take lots of pic-tures of your events and send them in to our District Webmaster, so that you can be featured on our website! Lastly, the Eastern Canada District Board will be op-erating on a committee system to provide Key Clubbers with opportunities on the District level! If you want to find out more, please feel free to send me an email at [email protected], or just simply ask your Lieutenant Governors! I hope you enjoy the second issue of the EC-Key, and I hope you all have a fantastic year of service, filled with growth and memories of a lifetime.
