Ebscohost’s Mobile App

To retrieve the app, access any Ebscohost database from the Library’s Database A-Z page (Academic Search Complete, Business Source Complete, etc.) and scroll down to the bottom of the first page. Click on the application link

You will be prompted to enter your email address. You will be sent a link to the app store, and, more importantly, the “key” that will allow you access to the database content from your mobile device. You cannot access the database app without this key.

1. You will receive an email that looks like this (see below). Access the email from your portable device, and click first on the link to the free app. Once the app is downloaded, go back to your email and click on the authentication link.

The app will not work on your device without the authentication link 2. Once the app is downloaded, it will look like this on your mobile device screen:

3. To use the app, click on it to open it, then type in your search term in the search box and click on “search”

5. Your search results will look like this (see below). To see the entire article, click on the entry, or click on the blue arrow to the right of the article. Unless you limit your results to full-text, some articles will have the whole text, and some will have only the abstract.

4. You can select a specific database to search, or limit by date, fulltext, or peer reviewed by clicking on the Settings button

6. After clicking on the article to expand it, you will see an abstract. If you scroll down, you will see the author, the publication information, the source, and the relevant subject headings. All of these fields are clickable, and link to all other articles with the same author, source, or subject headings.

To access saved articles at a later time, click on the Saved button.

8. Articles that include a pdf version of the fulltext will have pdf icon on the screen. The pdfs render nicely on the small mobile device screen.
