Shenyang Wanrong Modern ArchitectureIndustry Co., Ltd. was established in 2011.The city of Shenyang has a holding of 45%in the company. In the years that followedthe company implemented several largebuilding projects within the context of theChinese National Games 2013. Between2012 and 2014 it built the Security Com -mand Centre with 30 floors and a total
building area of 31,000 m² as well as theNanke Plaza, a modern office building with24 floors and 41,100 m². Both buildingprojects consist of 70% precast concreteelements.
In order to play a pilot role in the precastindustry in Shenyang, Wanrong has setitself the goal of improving and automating
the manufacture of precast concrete ele-ments. At the beginning of 2013 the com-pany signed a contract with EbaweAnlagentechnik for the delivery and instal-lation of one of the most modern circulationplants in China. The scope of deliveryincludes a complete circulation plant with75 pallets with a gross size of 14 x 3.80 m,a storage and retrieval machine and a dry-

In the last few years the topic of industrialisation in residential construction has gained strongly in importance in the People's Republic ofChina. 45 locations for industrialised residential construction, so-called ‘National Residential Industrialization Bases’ sponsored by theMinistry of Residential Construction, will be created in future in the country of 1.35 billion inhabitants. The city of Shenyang in the northeastof China is part of this sponsorship programme and thus a special case, since 42 of the 45 sponsored locations are companies. The city ofShenyang has 8.3 million inhabitants and has been shaped exclusively by industry for 80 years. Due to the climatic conditions in Shenyang– the temperature can fall below -30 °C in winter – as well as increasing awareness of the need for environmental protection, the technol-ogy of the precast concrete construction method is particularly suitable for this city and is to be driven forward.

ing chamber with 14 levels, a shutteringrobot and a turning unit. The reinforcementmachines were supplied by progressMaschinen & Automation, Ebawe’s associ-ated company. These include a mesh weld-ing plant, an automatic machine for placingthe meshes in the pallet, a plant for the pro-
duction of lattice girders and a robot forplacing the lattice girders. With regard tosoftware the plant was equipped withebos® ‒ a total solution for work prepara-tion, production and process analysis. Bothenterprises – Ebawe Anlagentechnik andprogress Maschinen & Automation – be -
long to the Progress Group, which suc-ceeded with this order in gaining entry tothe Chinese market.The new circulation plant is designed forthe manufacture of the most diverse precastconcrete elements such as floor slabs aswell as double, sandwich and solid walls,
The new factory in Shenyang is equipped with different compactiondevices for the different possible element types.
The insertion robot places the manufactured lattice girders fully automatically into the pallet.
With the aid of the VGA 215 lattice girder welding machine the lattice girders are automatically produced in the required heightsand lengths

The pallets are put into and taken out of storage automatically by thestorage and retrieval machine. The stacking rack offers space for amaximum of 70 pallets.
For the production of double walls a turning unit is available forturning the first shell into the freshly concreted second shell.

which are used for the erection of residen-tial complexes.Before the start of a new production cyclethe pallets pass through a stationary clean-ing unit for the cleaning of the formwork sur-
faces. The formwork itself passes through acorresponding facility for cleaning and oil-ing. It is subsequently transported back tothe formwork store by the storage robotand is ready for the next production cycle.
The combined plotter/formwork robotplaces the new elements on the formworksurface. The required reinforcement meshesare meanwhile produced just in time off thecoil by the fully automatic M-SystemEvolution mesh welding plant. This flexiblemachine manufactures meshes with a maxi-mum size of 10 x 4m, wherein each mesh iswelded individually according to CADspecifications. The welding robot has sixwelding heads that weld the meshes withdifferent cut-outs and in preset grid sizes.Once the meshes have been completelywelded, the longitudinal and transversebars are bent if necessary by a fully auto-matic mesh bending machine with a singlebending system. The reinforcement meshesare subsequently placed inside the pre-pared pallet by means of a magnetic cross-beam.
For the production of the lattice girdersWanrong uses a lattice girder weldingmachine of the type VGA 215, which pro-duces the required lattice girders just in timeand in the required lengths in its own works.A robot deposits the finished lattice girdersin an active and passive store. A fully auto-matic placing traverse then positions the lat-tice girders on the pallet.The pallets proceed to the next cycle sta-tion. Here the concrete is discharged by aconcrete distributor with a screw system.Both a horizontal compaction device andtwo combined compaction devices areavailable for the compaction of the dis-charged concrete.
The solid or sandwich wall elements aretrowelled up by a levelling beam after com-paction. Following pre-hardening of the ele-ments, their surfaces can be finelysmoothed with a power trowel if necessary.
The cured wall elements are brought into a vertical position by thetilting unit and removed. A mobile ladder facilitates the process.
The floor slabs are removed horizontally and transported to the outdoor storage area on transport frames by means of a run-offtruck with cross-driving car.

With the manufactured wall and floor elements Wanrong erects multi-storey office and residential buildings for the Shenyang region. The column and beam construction method is used.
The pallets are moved for curing into thestacking rack, which consists of five towers,each with 14 levels, offers sufficient roomfor all pallets and is equipped with a heat-ing and ventilation system.
For the production of double walls, the fin-ished first shell is turned into the freshly con-creted second shell with the aid of a turningunit. After the finished elements have left thestacking rack, they are taken off the palletsand transported by a transport frame on arun-off truck into the outdoor storage area.A tilting unit with mobile ladder that can beovertaken is available for lifting the wallelements.
In addition to the reinforcement machinesintegrated in the circulation, progressMaschinen & Automation also delivered anautomatic stirrup bending machine from theEBA S 12 line, which produces stirrups forinternal and external orders. Wanrong alsoproduces curved ladders for the productionof lining segments for tunnel constructionwith the Tunnel Master, which is also part ofthe Progress Group’s scope of delivery. Likeall plants from the progress Maschinen &Automation product range, both plantsoperate directly off the coil.

ebos universal control system developed bythe Progress Group. ebos offers a total solu-tion for work preparation, production andprocess analysis. Complex interface prob-lems are dispensed with and the employeescan carry out their entire work process in ahomogeneous, user-friendly system.
The generation and provision of the ele-ment data for ebos are done in the techni-cal office with the aid of the ACADPrecast
CAD program from IDAT GmbH. ACAD -Precast is a highly-specialised software andis based on the market-leading CAD pro-gram AutoCAD. It supports the technicalplanner in all necessary steps of the ele-ment definition and is directly connectedwith ebos via the CAD/CAM interface.The use of modern 3D technologiesreduces the element planning work to aminimum for the technical draughtsman.ACADPrecast provides extensive automa-tisms for the generation of geometry andreinforcement and creates all necessaryplans and drawings fully automatically.
A special module for the production of thedata for the mesh welding plant supportsthe user directly in the machine-compatiblepreparation of the mesh reinforcement foreach element. Furthermore, ACADPrecastdetermines all accounting-relevant datasuch as material quantities, etc. and trans-fers them to the customer’s internal account-ing program via an open data interface.
The ‘Third China (Shenyang) InternationalModern Architecture Exposition’ took placefrom 15 to 18 May 2014, at the same timeas the opening ceremony of the new facto-ry. Over these 4 days alone over 1,000 vis-itors came from all over China to inspectWanrong’s modern precast element pro-duction. In the process, the Ministry ofResidential Construction conferred the titleof ‘National Residential IndustrializationBase’ on Wanrong and at the same timethe city of Shenyang gained some prestigeas it was awarded the title ‘NationalExemplary City of Residential Industrializa -tion’. �
