Read the information on the planet overview. You should remember lots of facts about the planets from our Intergalactic topic. This week we are going to be choosing a planet to research and write a non-chronological report about. Please choose the planet you are most interested in.

**If you don’t have access to technology for research at home, you should choose Earth so that you can use Miss Wells’ research. WATCH THE SKILL VIDEO This should take you 30 minutes Resource 2: Planning document Research the planet you have chosen, group the facts you have found and use the planning format to present this as a plan. Resource 2: WAGOLL Read the ‘What a Good One Looks Like’ at the bottom of this document.

WATCH THE SKILL VIDEO Practise the skill using this question. This should take you around 15 minutes. Complete the reasoning question (below). Use the reasoning statements (attached at the bottom of the document) to explain your mathematical thinking. This should take 20 minutes.

Reasoning

What is your earliest memory? Can you identify any changes within yourself? Speak to a family member about what you were like when you were younger. You might want to use some photos to explore physical changes. Your task today is to complete a timeline of your life already, considering changes which have occurred. You may want to use the timeline outline at the bottom of the document to guide your ideas. Try and include:

- Pictures or drawings - Description of how you have changed - Thoughts/feelings about these changes

**This is a brilliant opportunity to explore more personal areas of the science curriculum within your own home and with your family. Please

Finding the feature – Resource – WAGOLL Use ‘Orbit and Axis’ paragraph of the WAGOLL and find as many examples of subordinate clauses as you can. How do you know it is a subordinate clause? This should take you 10 minutes. WATCH THE SKILL VIDEO Make a list or mind map of the subordinating conjunctions on your page. If you have access to technology, here is the link to the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rZAdeOgWDk Write your first paragraph using your planning sheet. Ensure you have used at least 3 subordinate clauses:

1. At the beginning of your sentence 2. After a noun, in the middle of your sentence

(think carefully about punctuation here).

- Check your answer using the inverse or a different method

- Rate your method/efficiency - Make it harder by changing the numbers or

Listen to a piece of music. You might want to play a piece of music, listen to a favourite song, or turn on the radio to hear something randomly selected. Using the musical elements, can you describe the music you are listening to? This should take you 10 minutes. Task: Create a musical theme park: For each ride in your theme park: ● Draw your ride/attraction. This could be anything from a traditional rollercoaster to the toddler teacups, or something fantastic you have invented yourself. The more original the better. ● Describe the ride/attraction in terms of the musical elements. ● If you have an instrument or software at home, create a piece of music that describes your ride/attraction. We call this Programme Music. There is an example of this in the resources at the bottom of the page:

you to research and design what a healthy lunch looks like. Make sure you include these terms in your design.

- protein - fruit and vegetables - carbohydrate - fat

We would like you to consider the proportion of each food group and how it can create a balanced healthy lunch. If you would like to investigate vitamins and minerals, then this will also help your lunch become more balanced.

Lesson 4: approx. length 1 hour Learning objective: to multiply using fractions.

Geography lesson Learning objective: to investigate traffic in my locality. Conducting a traffic survey is a really important way of monitoring vehicle use and potential environmental damaged within your locality (local area). Many people during lockdown noticed a huge change in the way people have been travelling to and from their homes. This week we would like you to undertake a traffic survey to monitor the points below:

- How many vehicles travel outside of your home at a set time?

- What types of vehicles are used in our locality?

Page 9: Eaton Primary School Home Learning Planner€¦ · Lesson 2: approx. length 1 hour Learning objective: To LO: to multiply 4 digits by a two-digit number. This should take you around

Consider what the purpose of a conclusion is: - to summarise the information within your

non-chronological report. - to give your view/opinion to the reader. - To provoke a reaction (e.g. make your

reader want to find out more). Using this knowledge, have a go at writing your conclusion. WATCH THE SKILL VIDEO Resource: marking ladder Use the marking ladder to guide you, edit and improve your non-chronological report. Remember the stations we use in school:

- Spell check - Punctuation station - Grammar focus - Sentence up-level

This should take you 25 minutes. Optional addition: If you would like to add some pictures or captions to your report, or to publish it using your best handwriting or technology, we would be incredibly proud! Don’t forget to post the end result on dojo!

The fluency part of the lesson (below) should take you around 20 minutes. Try and complete at least one question from every box. If you finish all questions within the 20 minutes:

- Check your answer using the inverse or a different method

- Rate your method/efficiency

- Make it harder by changing the numbers or

operation.

WATCH THE SKILL VIDEO Practise the skill using the questions below. This should take you around 15 minutes.

- Does the vehicle flow vary at different times of the day?

- Are there any clues for the purpose of each vehicle? For example, can you identify a van which is for business use?

Please record this information appropriately and keep your data safe for the next Geography lesson. Please make sure when you’re undertaking your traffic survey that you are safe. Please consider the below points:

1. Are you a safe distance away from the road?

2. If it is not a safe distance away from the road, can you conduct the traffic survey at home overlooking a road?

3. If an adult isn’t with you, then make sure they are aware of the activity you are doing.

We are looking forward to seeing your results on Class Dojo

Fri Week 2: PSHE lesson

There is a lot going on in the world at the moment and we get news from many different sources. ACTIVITY 1 From what different sources do we learn about the news? How do you prefer to hear about the news? Can we always believe what we read or see in the news? ACTIVITY 2 There are some positive news items happening. Find a feel-good piece of news that interests you.

Page 12: Eaton Primary School Home Learning Planner€¦ · Lesson 2: approx. length 1 hour Learning objective: To LO: to multiply 4 digits by a two-digit number. This should take you around

There have been lots of positive things happening during the lockdown e.g.

The European Space Agency has launched a mission to remove space debris

The discovery of the harlequin toad that was thought to be extinct

See if you can find out any more about one of these articles or choose your own article Summarise the article in your own words. ACTIVITY 3 Make your own news report about the article. You could video it, record the sound or write an article. https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround is a useful resource Have fun and I look forward to seeing your positive news reports, Mrs Rushworth
