The Model 91 fabricated Tstrainer, typically used forpump protection or other lowsolids applications has severaladvantages over other strainerdesigns. Its compact design isperfect for applications withrestricted space, either verticalor horizontal installations arepossible, and when cleaningthe strainer, draining the

vessel is not necessary. It alsocan be adapted for straightthrough or right angle flow,making it ideal for retrofitsituations.

Unique Strainer Design

The unique convoluted designof the strainer screen doublesthe screen area andcompletely changes the dirtaccumulation pattern on thescreen, more effectively usingthe screen’s straining area andincreasing the time betweencleanings. The combination ofa convoluted strainer screenand unrestricted flow pathresults in a very low pressuredrop, ideal for applicationssuch as condensate and boilerfeed pump suction in whichwater quality is good andpressure drop is critical.

Strainer screens are stain-less steel or other specifiedmaterials.

Cover Type OpeningsFor applications with infre-quent basket changing, Eatonoffers a simple, cost-effective,bolted cover type. It’s availablewith a davit assembly cover forlarger strainers with heavycovers, this makes it possiblefor a one-person operation.

For applications with morefrequent changing, Eatonoffers a hinged, quick openingcover secured by swing bolts.This is adaptable for higherpressure applications. Formedium size strainers, 14" to16," a bolted slide hinge coveris available. This permits oneoperator to engage the hingeand open the cover.

Optional Steam Jacketing

Available in carbon steel or316 stainless steel rated forservice up to 450 °F. This isideal for the high temperaturesrequired to process and trans-port heavy, viscous fluidswithout affecting the function

or normal maintenance of thestrainer. Steam jacketing main-tains critical fluid temperaturethroughout the strainer.

Eaton customizes the strainersto meet special applicationrequirements. Design andfabrication to ASME sectionVIII and ANSI B31.1 codes areavailable
