Food Labels and Deceptive Ingredients
Sometimes it isn’t obvious in a name:
Casein and Whey?
Dangerous for people with a dairy allergy!
Maltodextrin?
Ok for gluten-free folks even with the word “malt” which isn’t safe.
Nondairy?
Can contain milk proteins due to casein…

Who needs Eat Well?
Has to rely on Joseph to communicate his allergy to teachers, coaches, other parents.
Worries that Joseph might eat the wrong thing at a party even though he is very careful.
Can’t always be there to help him.
“I just want my son to be able to eat safely when he is away from home.”
Meet Erin: Her son Joseph has a peanut allergy.
Meet Tim: He was diagnosed with Celiac four months ago.
Eats most lunches away from home and cooks some nights.
Doesn’t want to make a “big deal” when planning meals out but has had a couple of bad experience with restaurants that had nothing on the menu he could order.
Forgets some items that may contain gluten and has to carry a list for shopping – it’s a drag.
“I’m a low-maintenance guy with the suddenly high-maintenance diet. Grocery shopping shouldn’t be this tough.”
