World’s first ‘Invisible’ Skyscraper to be Built in South Korea

GDS Architects were granted a permit to begin construction on the A 1,476-foot Tower, dubbed Tower Infinity, near Incheon International Airport just outside of Seoul, Korea.The illusion of invisibility is achieved by using an LED facade and cameras on the back to project the surroundings behind the building onto its front. GDS has not yet announced a completion date.

(Psychrolutesmarcidus) has been officially voted the ugliest animal on the planet. Thousands of people from around the world cast their votes online, said the Ugly Animal Preservation Society. Muay Thai is one of the requisite forms of martial arts needed in the hardcore mixed martial arts sport (MMA) as it incorporates the whole body as a fighting weapon.

In Muay Thai, there are two cultural aspects that are part of the sport: Wai Kroo and Ram Muay.

Wai Kroo (meaning to pay respect to their teacher) is a traditional practice that goes back many centuries. This tradition is meant as a respectful acknowledgement performed by each Muay Thai fighter before they engage in combat with each other. The purpose is to pay respect to their teacher, as well as their opponent’s teacher, pay respect to the Muay Thai sport as a whole, and also to pay respect to the Lord Buddha.

The secondcultural tradition before the Muay Thai fight is the Ram Muay. In this performance, the fighter executes various movements in the form of a dance to show his fighting style and fighting prowess. Along with the Ram Muay dance is a performing Thaiband which is played by four musicians.The bandinfuses background music throughout the ceremony and the fight by adjusting the tempo and pitch of the music throughout the entire time.

泰拳中包含了两大富有运动精神的文化：Wai Kroo（朝拜师傅）及Ram Muay（祭拜舞）。

Lumpinee Boxing Stadium is an indoor sporting arena located on Rama IV Road in Bangkok. The stadium is run by the Royal Thai Army on behalf of the Thai Government, and it has become the symbol of modern Muay Thai.

The second stadium is Rajadamnern Boxing Stadium (Sanam Muay Rajadamnern) is an indoor sporting arena located on Ratchadamnern Road in Bangkok. Along with Lumpinee Stadium, the Rajadamnern Stadium is one of the two main stadiums for modern Muay Thai fights. Be prepared to pay around 2,000 Baht for a front row seat in both of these stadiums.

Lumpinee 拳击赛场位于曼谷拉玛四路的市内赛场。此赛场由泰国皇家军队，代替政府营运，它已成为了现代泰拳的象征地。

泰拳歷史

经过几个世纪的传统泰拳（古式拳击）已从原本凶狠的近距离战场打斗, 演变成了今时今日的擂台式泰拳。在古代，如战士们在战场上掉了他们的兵器后, 便会用传统泰拳来作战，他们会用身体的各个部位，如手肘、膝盖、手臂、及双手作为武器与敌人展开肉体上的搏斗。

人们一直对泰拳确切的发源地与时间, 一直抱有争议，而目前唯一能确定的, 它是从14世纪, 泰国的大城府兴起的，其它的细节则早已被埋在了古城的地底下。这是因为有很多历史书籍和记载都已遗失，包括泰拳历史。尽管，泰拳起源已无从查起，但大家一致认为它最初是用于战场打斗的。

泰拳的历史遗产有两大推测：第一个推测为，在中国人移居泰国时，由于为了争夺土地才产生了这一打斗艺术。当时的中国人从中国南下，其中的一个民族就是（泰）暹罗人。为了生存，他们一路南下勇往杀敌，占领了一个又一个位于现在泰国南部及中部的小部落，其范围一直扩展到马来西亚。

Throughout centuries, Muay Boran (Ancient Boxing) has evolved from a brutal battlefield hand-to-hand fighting style to today’s Muay Thai fighting style. Muay Boran was a martial art used on the battlefield to compensate if a soldier lost their weapon, they would resort to hand-to-hand combat using various body parts such as the elbows, knees, arms and hands as weapons.

The history of Muay Thai and where it originated from is debatable as during the 14th century the capital city of Thailand, Ayuthaya, was looted and burned to the ground. Many books and volumes of written historical knowledge were lost forever, including Muay Thai history.Nevertheless, in spite of controversy as to where Muay Thai originated from, it is agreed upon that Muay Thai began as a hand-to-hand combat battlefield skill.

The two main theories regarding Muay Thai and its historical heritage are:One says that the art developed as the Thai people moved down from China; honed in the struggle for land. As tribes migrated south from the steppes of China, the major tribes of that period, one of which was the (Tai) Siamese, fought fiercely to survive as they moved south and encountered other smaller tribes in what is now northern and central Thailand, and as far south as Malaysia.

Through training, loss of life, military tactics, and hand-to-hand combat, technique and tactics were honed to a razors edge, and the rudimentary elements of a “fighting-style” began to take root.The second theory states Muay Thai was developed to defend the land and people from constant invasion threats from Burma and Cambodia. Muay Thai training was mandatory in a soldier’s life due to the constant real threats from neighboring countries.

化Not too long ago, Muay Thai wasn’t practiced nor taken

up so rigorously with earnest by the middle class and upper class. During the J-pop and K-pop craze, it was seen as more trendy to learn Taekwondo or Karate compared to local Muay Thai. Some say that this is due to Muay Thai being practiced and used by the lower class, and that the upper class didn’t want to mingle or be seen as partaking in that sport.

Currently though, things have changed and glamorous Muay Thai schools have sprouted up all over Bangkok enticing the rich and famous to see and be seen training. It’s a wonder as to why the “hi-society” and celebrities are all posting up pictures on their instagram and facebook profiles wearing Muay Thai equipment and practicing this sport. Perhaps the K-pop craze is over and the next pop trend will be “Thai-pop”. A famous Muay Thai school called ‘RSM Academy’ located on Tonglor 13 is very popular with the upper and middle class locals as it’s not as spartan and ancient-looking as most other Muay Thai gyms. This gym offers modern amenities and boasts an attractive crowd for anyone to come and gawk at the eye candy.

Off to a good start, re-signing with K-1, Buakaw Banchamek finished his first fight with a KO against david Calve at the K-1 World MAX 2013 World Championship

Tournament Final 16 in Mallorca, Spain on September 14, 2013.

A 30 years old, Buakaw Banchamek, was borned in a rice farmer family in Surin Province, Northeastern Thailand.

“At 7 years old, I had to choose

between school and boxing. I chose

boxing. myself I did my best to get

there. My mother was always very

encouraging, and I will never forget

values she passed me during all

these years.”

His career as boxer starts at the age of 8 years, fighting against other young boxer from neighboring villages, and later was subjected to the POR PRAMUK camp. In Thailand, a typical young boxers train 6 days a week, twice a day, morning and afternoon. Muay Thai is a job for them, get up in the morning, train hard, and fight.

He has won many titles in his early career, but the real turning point was in 2002, when he defeated the highly regarded Japanese boxer, Kobayashi. As a result, Buakaw was widely recognized, recruited by Japanese kickboxing organization “K-1”. He quickly became star of the rings, also the first fighter in the K-1 history to win the championship title twice. Buakaw Banchamek has become a Thai Boxing icon, and a true hero for Thais, and kicking boxing fans around the world.

30岁的播求出生于泰国北部素林一种植水稻的农户人家。

Thai Ink | Japanese Paperby Srijai Kuntawang, Thaiwijit Peungkasemsomboon, Kade Javanalikikorn, Kitikong Tilokwattanotai, and Ammarin Kuntawong

In this unique collaboration between Japan and Thailand, Awagami Factory, one of the finest papermakers from Japan with 300 years history, proudly collaborates with Chiang Mai Art On Paper (C.A.P. Studio) to produce a series of prints by five of Thailand’s finest printmakers. The editioned work represents a creative cross-section of todays spirited Thai printmaking community illustrating styles ranging from minimal to conceptual. All works were hand-printed at C.A.P on many types of Awagami’s fine Japanese papers that are highly prized by artisans for nearly 300 years.

Especially for this exhibition at Serindia Gallery in Bangkok, Awagami Factory made a very special Kōzo ō (mulberry) weighing 600gram at 1 meter x 1 meter for each artist to create one-of-a-kind piece. The paper normally was specially commissioned by established artists and handmade only by master papermakers. This is a fantastic opportunity to see and acquire unique works by five of Thailand’s finest printmakers on special Japanese paper.

Inspired by mid-century modern design born in Southern California, this lounge reflects the glamour and casual sophistication many seek from California.

The furniture is locally designed and manufactured, using locally sourced materials where possible.The lounge has been designed by the internationally acclaimed architectural firm, Gensler.The exact lounge opening date will depend on wider terminal construction timelines. This lounge will see significant

improvements on all levels and changes to the existing Star Alliance lounge at Tom Bradley International Terminal after listening to the feedback of lounge guests.

The lounge can be found in the new Tom Bradley International Terminal on level 6, accessible via escalator or elevator from the main atrium area. It is located airside after security and accessible only by guests departing from this terminal.

The lounge will be open to accommodate all Star Alliance departures each day from 09:15 until 00:30 – times may change depending on Star Alliance flight schedules from TBIT.

Airbus has announced a new lower weight variant of its versatile A330-300 wide-body aircraft that is optimised for use on domestic and regional routes in high growth markets with large populations and concentrated traffic flows. China will be one of the most important markets for this new version of today’s world’s most efficient and reliable widebody aircraft.

The new A330-300 variant will benefit from the latest A350 XWB and A380 technologies. These include cockpit functionalities such as dual head-up display and the latest navigational systems. 1Hilton Pattaya Supports Youth at the Youth Career Development Program in

Partnership with UNICEF as Part of Hotel’s Bright Blue Futures Initiative

Hilton Pattaya recently participated in The Youth Career Development Program in partnership with UNICEF in a show of support to youths in Pattaya, Thailand. To cater to the growing demand amongst local youths for careers in the hospitality industry, community partners including UNICEF have joined efforts to organize The Youth Career Development Program as a way to generate awareness and positively impact these youths. The initiative provides a comprehensive 20-week hospitality training program for selected students in Thailand to equip them with hospitality skills in various departments such as: food and beverage, kitchen, housekeeping and engineering. This is the first time that Hilton Pattaya is participating in this initiative by supporting four student trainees who will be trained on-property under a mentor system.

Hilton Pattaya’s participation in The Youth Career Development Program is part of its support of Bright Blue Futures, a global community relations initiative by Hilton Hotels & Resorts, designed to help young people achieve stability through the delivery of basic needs such as food, shelter and hope through education, life skills development, training and employment.
