The Green Deal allows energy firms to provide domesticand non-domestic customers with a range of propertyimprovements which will increase energy efficiency andreduce heating costs.

The costs incurred by making these improvements isrecouped through instalments on a property owner’senergy bill over a number of years. The Green Deal is not anadvance payment or personal loan and therefore no

obligation moves with the property owner should they move.

The "golden rule" of the Green Deal ensures that thepredicted savings from making the energy improvementsmust equal or exceed the cost of the installation.

An assessment will be carried out on a homeowner’s property,with options of a range of relevant measures presented.Once all the details are confirmed, the installation will thentake place and the customer will pay for the measure throughtheir energy bills. Energy Company Obligation (ECO)

The Energy Company Obligation offers funding for energyefficiency improvements in 3 main streams;

• The Carbon Saving Community Obligation (CSCO)• The Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO)• The Carbon Emission Reduction Obligation (CERO)

Properties or families that meet the requirements within anyof these streams are eligible for fully or partially funded energyefficiency improvements.
