1About This Quilt A fun, bright novelty print is the

inspiration for easy foundation blocks.

The foundation for this quilt can also be found at quiltmaker.com.

2Making the Sections Make 13 paper copies total of the

foundation sections. Refer to the foun-dations for color placement.

Foundation piece each section in numerical order, pressing and trim-ming after each patch addition. Make 5 section 1’s, 4 section 2’s and 4 sec-tion 3’s.

Quilting Placement

3Assembling the Quilt Top Refer to the assembly diagram.

Sew the sections and A’s together as shown to make 2 row 1’s, 2 row 2’s and 1 row 3. Sew the rows together as shown.

Sew the border strips together end to end. Refer to “Borders” in Basic Lessons to measure and trim the borders. Matching centers and ends, sew the border side strips to the quilt. Repeat to add the border top and bot-tom strips. Carefully remove the foun-dation papers.

4Quilting and Finishing Layer and baste together the back-

ing, batting and quilt top. Refer to the quilting placement diagram. Quilt the sections in the ditch as shown. Using the patchwork as a guide, quilt diago-nal lines as shown.

Peg quilted a freeform echo around the animals in the novelty print and quilted wavy lines in the border, loosely following the chevron print. Practice your machine quilting skills by following the prints and shapes in the fabrics you use.

Bind the quilt.
