New Seating Projects

Snack trays continue to rollout at our recliner seating theaters. Riverview 14 GDX, Ada Lowell 5 and Eastside 10 IMAX all feature snack trays on the recliner seats.

Recliners will be installed in 14 auditoriums with a non-ottoman recliner installed in the IMAX auditorium (lobby samples shown below). All theaters will be reserved seating and each chair will have a snack tray. A remodeled lobby and concession area is also planned at Randall 15 IMAX, along with a Screen Taps® bar.

Lafayette 7 received a seating update with Telescopic Seating Systems’ Savoy Plus chairs in April 2019. Grand Haven 9 and Oxford 7 are next to get the Savoy Plus chair with completion set for September, 2019. These new seated theaters will feature reserved seating.

Huntington 7 will be re-seated also in the fall of 2019 with Greystone chairs.

GQT and IMAX have partnered to feature the new IMAX brand messaging, “Films to the Fullest,” with window decals installed on the mezzanines at Portage 16 IMAX + GDX and Hamilton 16 IMAX + GDX. The Savoy 16 IMAX hung the new messaging on the exterior, while Randall 15 IMAX has installed window decals in the party room windows in their IMAX lobby.

In an effort to increase brand recognition with our frequent moviegoers at our theaters, we are renaming the loyalty program to GQT Rewards. GQT Rewards is the same program our members know and love. Our members make up about 40% of GQT ticket purchases.

Popcorn Bucket ChallengeIn July 2018, GQT raised $70,000 for Brave Beginnings, a program of the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation. A Popcorn Bucket Challenge on Facebook was introduced at Wabash Landing 9 by challenging another GQT theater. All in all, 75% of our theaters created videos on social media, calling on other theaters to compete! The creativity exploded, turning up the awareness on this life-saving, fundraising campaign! NICU’s around the country obtained medical equipment thanks to our guests’ donations.

Goodrich Quality Theaters has partnered with OnSite Wellness to provide participating employees cash credits towards their health insurance. OnSite Wellness provides comprehensive wellness solutions that unlock the full potential for the employee. Full time GQT employees are encouraged to track their nutrition, exercise and enter monthly challenges to earn many points throughout the year.

Dusten Van Zyll, general manager at Grand Haven 9 has been successful with losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In 2017, Dusten was at his highest weight ever, topping out at 322 pounds at his doctor’s appointment.

“My doctor was worried about my health. I needed to do something because I was going down the path of a heart attack. I was either going to lose my life, or I needed to change my life to live...and I am choosing to live.”

Dusten made the choice to change his lifestyle that included healthy eating habits and exercise. Dusten immediately started cutting out fast food and soda. He found a nutrition club and met others who gave him support with meal ideas and options for workout activities. Dusten started walking every day and took a weekly drum cardio class. The weight started melting off each week. Dusten has more energy for work and at home. “I don’t think of this as a diet, but a lifestyle change that I can stick with.” His exercise time is a must that he does daily, “it’s an appointment with yourself, you have to make time for it.”

Patricia Bussler, Human Resource Manager, and Kelly Nash, Marketing Director, take time to shovel the office

entry while earning health points.

John Saylor, manager of Kendall 11 GDX, earns himself some activity points while bowling all night at the 2019 manager’s social outing.
