Shelly, Erika & myself would like to invite you to our Annual Production Sale! 2014 was a great year for sure. We were blessed with ample rain and super grass conditions which stretched well into the fall. That eased the work and feed costs for livestock producers in our part of the world. You don’t need me to tell you how finally the markets have turned in favor of the cow/calf producer. It was a great fall for those who sold their calves and things continue to look so positive this spring.

We enjoyed a really good positive Agribition with a great attitude from both commercial and purebred producers who stopped by our stall in the yards.

Now a bit about our offering! We have three calves to lead our offering, these Consensus sons are all off three of our better cows and showed great promise all summer and together as a pen of three went on to be named Champion Pen of Three Angus Bulls, and Reserve Supreme Pen just behind a very good pen of Black Simmental bulls.

Our Main Event 40W sire group is extremely strong this year. He is not Mainstream but we feel he sure can compete with mainstream. They are structurally correct and have the numbers to match mainstream if you so choose to compare. Great news is the Main Event daughters raising calves look very good as well.

The Laramie sire group is smaller than last year but does not lack in quality. Laramie stamps his calves with hair, and ease of fleshing. The first few daughters have calved, and look great.

The Kodiak 131 and Initiative sire groups have very good individuals in the offering followed with calving ease bulls out of the popular Montana genetics VDAR Really Windy 4097 & Black Cedar 46P bulls.

The bulls & females in the offering are very consistent in type and kind and we hear this comment consistently when people visit the pens. I guess we are hitting our target as we love a consistent mid road product.The bulls will be semen evaluated before sale day and we will stand behind our product 100%.

You can always give us a call as we would be glad to send you out a DVD produced by our guest consignor Martin Penfold, who himself has two very good calving ease bulls in the sale out of a bull he purchased from us in the 2013 sale.

Eight years ago Eastondale was preparing for the their first “On the Farm Bull and Female Sale”, time has flown by as it’s sometimes hard to remember what things were like in 2008 in our lives. Time passes by and until we look back at past catalogues, pictures or the good old fashioned coffee shop session going down memory lane. We all do things a little different every year whether it be we have learned some new innovative methods or trying some new stuff to find out the results of those actions. That is what makes life interesting as some things have become easier as technology has aided in various manners or technology has perhaps made life a little more complicated as we are unfamiliar with it or we become very dependent on it. What hasn’t changed over the years is the blood, sweat and tears that cattle producers put into their way of life. We wouldn’t have it any other way either would we. The cowherds have pulled us through in the good times and bad and that as a way of life wouldn’t be traded for anything. It’s a natural passion which is addictive and rewarding. At Eastondale, it’s business as usual, a family run operation that has been the part of the roots of the Moose Mountains. The saying of the cattle are like the people couldn’t be anymore true. Honest, hardworking and diligent would easily describe the Eastons and their cattle. A herdbull battery has continued to gather strength each year in the quest for producing well balanced, productive and profitable Angus cattle, there’s no other way.

Highlighting the sale this year is the Reserve Champion Pen of Bulls in Herdbull Alley at Agribition. They are all sired by Connealy Consensus, and are impressive no doubt. The Laramie calves again this year are an impressive set and were very popular in last years sale, they are unique. A large selection of the Main Event 40W is on offer this year and the consistency and quality of that sire group is enjoyable when touring the bull pen. Make time to have Dale tour you through the Main Event daughters, they are sweet and look to be a great breeding bull whose daughters will go on in the herd and compliment the herd! Don’t forget or overlook the Jackson, Really Windy, Black Cedar, Initiative and Kodiak bulls and heifers. The bullpen is very exciting yet again.

The females on offer are off the right kind, they are everything Angus cattle should be. They are in prime breeding condition, ready to breed and become productive Angus cows. Again, tour the cow herd and see what these females will grow into, you won’t be disappointed at all.

In October 2012, Dale asked me to produce a short 3 minute video of his bull calves before they were weaned. I spent part of a fall afternoon out in his pasture. His bull calves looked fantastic. The best of time to begin your selection for your future bull, as far as I am concerned. There were a handful of calves that, in particular, caught my eye and one of the young bulls was a Cole Creek Black Cedar son on his Max dam, her first calf, and one of Ericas. She was a beautiful heifer with a great udder and just really correct. I followed the young bulls through the winter and was delighted to be able to buy this Cole Creek Black Cedar son at Dale’s sale the following April. Now, as he approaches 3 years old, I am so pleased to have him here as my herd sire. Easy keeping and gets nothing more than hay with the cows in the winter but keeps in solid condition. These 2 bull calves, in this sale, were raised on very average pasture and nothing fancy. They weaned at good weights and have gone on to grow well throughout the winter. I hope you like them.

Terms & ConditionsTerms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at the sale unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance to the sale with the owner or Sales Manager.

Bidding: Each animal is to be sold to the highest bidder. No by-bidding will be permitted. A reasonable price base may be set.

Disputes: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters is final.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

Announcements: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Certificate of registry: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be fur-nished to the buyers for each animal after settlement has been made.

Breeders Guarantee, bulls: Should any bull (14) fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within (6) six months following date of purchase or (6) six months after the bull has reached (14) fourteen months of age. The seller will then have the right and privilege of (6) six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold nor for sickness not apparent at sale time.Exception guarantee: In cases where the animal was subjected to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller are for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, care, A.I., signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal in question to be a breeder, the said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to prove the animal a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement F.O.B. ranch or location of origin or a refund of the actual price. Should a dispute arise over the qual-ity of the replacement animal, the Sale Management will appoint a mediator.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sales manager, auctioneer, or sellers as-sume any responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.

Mail or telephone bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer, or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Rights and obligatations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall continue a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction which is not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
