On Your Way to College?Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools is dedicated to preparing students for a successful transition to college. Partnerships have been created with several colleges/universities and the Ohio Board of Regents to give students a head start on earning college credits while still in high school, saving both time and money. The college credits available through the Career-Technical programs fall into three categories: 1. Articulated Credits;2. Career-Technical Credit Transfer (CT)2; and3. Transcripted Articulation Credits.

The type you earn depends on your qualifications.

1. Articulated CreditsArticulated Credits are granted to eligible students in a Career-Technical program based on an agreement between EFCTS and a 2 or 4 year college/university. Students must attend the college/university awarding the credit. For details on what college/universities EFCTS has an agreement with, check out the specific program in which you are interested. Articulated Credits are a great place to start your path to the future by saving you time and money!

2. Career-Technical Credit Transfer (CT)2

Students are guaranteed the transfer of applicable credits among Ohio’s public colleges and universities through the Ohio Board of Regents. Students who successfully complete specific technical programs are eligible to have credit transfer to public colleges and universities.

3. Transcripted Articulation CreditsEFCTS has partnered with Central Ohio Technical College to award both high school and college credit to eligible students in a career-technical program. The agreement provides students the opportunity to earn technical college credits for skills they will learn. A transcript will be issued by COTC with the awarded credits that can be transferred to any college or university and many others across the nation. In order to be awarded Central Ohio Technical College credit on an official transcript, a student must complete at least one semester course through the college. This can include a Dual Enrollment, Con-current, or Post Secondary Enrollment Course. EFCTS has also partnered with Cincinnati State to offer Transcripted Articulation Credits for students that successfully complete the Bioscience Technologies program.

Start the transition.Project SEARCH is a one year, high school transition program which provides training and education leading to employment for individuals with disabilities. Project SEARCH serves as a workforce alternative for students in their last year of high school. Three elective high school credits can be earned for successful completion of the Project SEARCH program. All students must be eligible for services with the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission to participate.

Get the skills. The cornerstone of Project SEARCH is total immersion in a business setting. Students report daily to Fairfield Medical Center where they will learn employability skills in the classroom and job skills during three internship rotations. Students participate in monthly progress meetings to define their career goal and plan necessary steps to achieve that goal. If available, students may utilize public transportation.

Do the job. Managers at the internship sites work with the Project SEARCH instructor and job coaches to support the students. Students get continual feedback from the internship manager, co-workers, and Project SEARCH staff. Students end their day by reflection, problem solving, planning and journaling their key learnings. The ultimate goal upon program completion is competitive employment utilizing the skills learned on the internships and throughout the program.

NOTE: This program has a separate and unique application and admissions process. Both are available at www.eastland-fairfield.com.
