Seth Slavin is an amazing leader both in and out of the classroom. His athletic accomplishments are myriad; the dedication to excellence that he displays in his training and competitions also serve him well in all areas of the curriculum. He has a phenomenal work ethic and an incredibly inquisitive math mind. In fact, over the past two summers he has written scholarly papers on mathematical topics that interest him – prime numbers and Fibonacci sequences. He has completed all of the math courses at his high school and is currently enrolled in an online multivariable calculus course from MIT. He took his interest in math to a whole new level when he rallied others with similar interests and founded a Math Club at Pleasant Valley High School. Math is not Seth’s only area of interest. He is fascinated by science and has lead members of the Science Club to new heights as they have competed in the Science Olympiad. He often shouldered individual responsibility for certain areas while working in concert with others on group challenges. This year he helped to expand the scope of study to include robotics. He hopes to take all of his athletic and academic strengths and hone them at a university like Lehigh or MIT. Wherever Seth Slavin lands next year, I’m sure that he’ll thrive – and burnish his well-earned scholar-athlete award. Ann J. Parham , Teacher of the Gifted Pleasant Valley High School

Noel M. Kelly was one of my top students in AP Biology during her sophomore year. She has successfully taken almost all of our AP classes and maintained a class rank in the top 2% -- all while balancing her many other activities, such as Key Club, Math Tutor, Life Guard, Relay for Life, 4-year letter winner in Volleyball and team Captain, NHS president and others. She is two months into her term as NHS president and she has already helped organize and carry over 22 events to fruition. She promises to be a great physician assistant.

Elizabeth demonstrates a level of dedication rarely seen in high school students. I first saw her dedication in 9th grade Honors English, and she has curated this trait through her high school career. Elizabeth balances the demands of a rigorous schedule with those of an elite athlete and young thespian. I have had the pleasure to teach Elizabeth in Theatre class. I did not see the attitude many young actresses often demonstrate; rather, I saw Elizabeth take criticism and earnestly work to improve herself. She takes her work seriously, both “onstage” and off, and I have no doubt she will continue to do so in the future. It is difficult for anyone to balance all these demands and still maintain a friendly, helpful attitude. Elizabeth makes it look easy and does so with poise and confidence.
Elizabeth will go on to do great things, and I am excited to see what the future brings her.

One of the greatest rewards in the profession of educator is the opportunity to recognize the
talents and hard work of a student like Anissa Abboud. I have known Anissa as one of her
teachers for almost a year and a half. Anissa was the hardest working student in my Advanced
Placement World History Class. She enthusiastically attacked the college level work that was
presented to her. She sought to be the student with the highest grade in class but was always
willing to help the students around her understand the material. Her work ethic was second to
none, followed closely by her communication skills both oral and written as well as her ability to
work with others as a team. Those qualities when added up made her a great class leader. She
was admired and sought out by her peers. Anissa finished the course with an A+ average. This
was done while she was taking other AP classes and competing in sports at a very high level,
both in school and on her club team.

I currently have Madison Stewart as a student in my Business and Personal Law class. Madison is extremely conscientious and self-motivated and works above and beyond the standards to be an excellent student and person. She currently has a 98% in my class which is the highest grade out of 55 students. She always does an outstanding job in class with an evident purpose and is quite simply an exceptional student. Her hard work is commendable, both working individually or in the leadership role of a group. She always listens eagerly and welcomes the complex challenges presented in my Business and Personal Law course and displays impressive logical thinking abilities and an intellectual curiosity beyond that of her peers.

I had the distinct pleasure of having Reilly as a student in my American history class. From the moment she entered my classroom, it was vividly clear that she was a leader. Loved and re-spected by all of her peers, Reilly did an amazing job of balancing her academic and athletic commitments. In my 23-years of teaching, she is by far one of the top students I have ever had the honor of teaching. Additionally, she is also one of the kindest, most well-mannered, and pleasant students you could ever want to teach. Reilly is the epitome of what it means to be a student-athlete, and we are so proud that she represents Emmaus High School

Thomas Melchiorre is a hard-working and determined young man. In the classroom, Thomas demonstrates leadership qualities, as he is the type of student that others look up to. He tends to make others around him better individuals.

I had the pleasure of having Eric in my Architecture class during his junior year. In Architecture
class Eric had the unique opportunity of being a part of our “design to build” program where
we designed and then actually built a full scale observatory for a large telescope. He just did
what needed to get done and always did it well. He was definitely a leader and mentor in my
class. He works hard, he is conscientious, and he had that way of making your day, every day.
It has truly been a pleasure to have Eric Cichocki as a student.

I am writing on behalf of Valentine Perevalov, a student currently in my AP Statistics course. Valentine was also in my Honors Discrete Math course as a sophomore. Valentine has been one of the best students I have ever worked with during my teaching career. I felt very honored that he asked me to write this for him. He has an enormous academic potential and excels at any subject matter that is taught. Valentine routinely receives that highest grade on tests in my course and frequently participates in class. Valentine also excels at the critical thinking part of the material and is able to stretch learn. Work ethic is also a strong point and Valentine balances sports and academics quite well. I find Valentine to be quite personable and we frequently talk about soccer.
