EASTER TRADITIONS IN ENGLAND 1. READ (There is a dictionary of new words at the end of the text) Easter is a celebration of spring. It is celebrated one Sunday of April. English people play different games to celebrate that spring is here. * Egg decoration: children paint and decorate boiled* eggs. When the eggs are finished children can: Do an egg race* Race with the boiled egg. * Easter egg hunt*: People hide* chocolate eggs in different places: behind a tree, under a table, between two chairs, near the door… and children have to find them. When they find an egg, they keep* it in a basket* so they can eat it later. The more they find, the more they eat!

Easter is a celebration of spring. It is celebrated one Sunday of April.

English people play different games to celebrate that spring is here.

* Egg decoration: children paint and decorate boiled* eggs. When the eggs

are finished children can:

Do an egg race* Race with the boiled egg.

* Easter egg hunt*: People hide* chocolate eggs in different places:

behind a tree, under a table, between two chairs,

near the door… and children have to find them.

* Decorating a hat with flowers: The hats are called bonnets. An

Easter bonnet is a pretty hat

adorned with flowers and ribbons*.

Children make bonnets to wear as a

symbol of Easter.

* Eating hot cross buns*: They are small, sweet and made of bread.

They have raisins*. The baker* draws a cross* on the top of the bun.
