COVID 19 STRESS A THREAT TO
EMOTIONAL & SPIRITUAL HEALTH
The graphic below was sent to us from the counseling department at OKC Catholic Charities. I think you may find it helpful under the extraordinary circumstances of the present time. Use it, if you wish, as a self assessment tool that could steer you and your loved ones to better self-caring.
CHRIST IS RISEN! HE IS TRULY RISEN!
The fact that we are unable to gather for our usual celebrations of Holy Week and Easter does not cancel out the Good News that Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins and rose again to make it possible for us to have everlasting life. Find ways to make Easter Sunday and the days that follow special days of prayer and devotion. Let’s not rely solely on political leaders or health officials to rescue us from this terrible scourge. Rather let us turn to The Lord and ask HIM to save us from fear in all its forms. He will see us through this as we resolve to turn to Him while he may still be found.

Share the joy and satisfaction of others in your home express in their work and play. Take a new perspective on daily tasks such as cooking and look for the joy in spending time preparing something, however simple, for others and yourself.
Limit your access to social media that focuses on the Coronavirus. Listen to or read the news once a day to keep informed.
Use your social media to stay in touch with family and friends. If you have a smartphone, use the video capabilities for Facebook chats. You can also email or even call someone on the phone.
Watch a funny video. Thanks to the huge popularity of YouTube, there are thousands of videos that can help you take your mind off current events. Wherever you can, assist people in your life who may be more vulnerable. DEBBIE KAMPHAUS
PARISH NURSE
How can I continue to contribute to the support of the parish while Masses are canceled? Folks have been asking this question. We have a great opportunity to reconsider the way we pay our tithes & offerings.
You can go to our website or our parish app and look for the Online Giving icon. Once there you will be directed to set up an account. You can use the service as needed or you can set up a recurring amount to be deducted from your bank account or charged to a credit card.
Electronic funds transfer (EFT) are electronic transfer of money from one bank account to another. You can request a form from the parish office.
OR, JUST MAIL YOUR ENVELOPES TO THE PARISH OFFICE
HOW REMARKABLE! On Palm Sunday we invited everyone to drive up under the portico to pick up some palms and a bulletin and to drop off tithes and offerings. Those gifts amounted to more than $25,000!!!! Thanks to all!

JOURNEY OF FAITH
One of the biggest impacts of the Archbishop’s unprecedented decision to cancel even the Solemn Celebrations of Holy Week and Easter is that the Sacramental Initiation of our Catechumens and Candidates will have to be postponed.
We are in the process of coming up with alternative ways to help them complete their preparation that will truly make them ready to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
The sponsors will need to step up and offer more direct guidance and direction, but we will also be sending out links to good online materials.
EASTER SUNDAY WWW.STANDREWMOORE.COM April 12, 2020
Many of you took purple slips from the cross in the baptistry as Lent began. Each bore the name of an individual preparing to receive Easter Sacraments. We asked that you pray for them throughout Lent as they prepared to celebrate the Sacraments in Holy Week. Then along came the dreaded Covid-19 and the cancellation of all public liturgical celebrations through the end of April. So we encourage you to continue your prayers through the beginning weeks of the Easter Season until the dates for their Initiation can be announced. In the meantime, you might consider sending an Easter card to encourage them to be patient as they wait in joyful hope.

APRIL IS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
According to Palomar, OKC Family Justice Center, incidents of domestic violence and child abuse is expected
to rise in the coming days due to Shelter-in-place’ order in light of the COVID19 pandemic. As families are
dealing with challenges of the unknown and for many, income is limited so it goes without saying, panic, fear
and stress increase within the home. All the tension becomes like a powder keg for families that are already
volatile.
The use of computers during ‘on-line learning’ should be monitored regularly. Parental supervision and controls
should be heightened to decrease the type of sites that may be visited. Predators will increase online activity to
try and gain access to children and teens with the restrictions of limited access in the current COVID19 climate.
A perpetrator’s pathology is about power and control, so when both are removed, their behavior is likely to
escalate.
PLEASE BE ADVISED A major pornography site is offering FREE premium access in April to everyone without a credit card! That means KIDS are especially vulnerable! The site is exploiting the COVID-19 crisis to deepen the pandemic of pornography addiction. Without requiring a credit card, there is no way to truly verify an individual’s age even though it ‘requires’ a minimum age of 18. This means minors have free, easy access to pornography across the globe.
Let us be vigilant in helping prevent child abuse in our community. Every citizen of Oklahoma over 18 years
of age is obligated by law to report any well-grounded suspicion of child abuse to the DHS hot-line
and remember if you are not sure about whether to make a report, it is better to err on reporting then
not. 3 out of 10 mandated reporters fail to make a report - so 70% of possible child abuse cases are not
reported. We must do all in our power to help prevent child abuse for all of God’s children.
DHS HOTLINE: 1-800-522-3511
ARCHDIOCESAN HOTLINE: 720-9878
As intentional disciples, we are entrusted
with preventing child abuse
“God wants every child
to be happy and to smile,
and His favor rests upon
them.”
Pope Benedict XVI
