Pastor’s Point Dear Pinecrest Friends,
Easter will be celebrated on April 20th this year and to the Christian, the main event of that day is the celebration of the resurrection of Christ. Did you ever wonder - What IF Christ had not risen? According to the resurrection chapter of
the Bible, 1 Corinthians 15, IF there were no resurrection then: Verse 14 - the preacher’s sermons would be of no value Verse 15 - we would be considered liars Verse 17 - our faith would be a joke - we are still sinners not forgiven and not on our way to heaven. Verse 18 - our loved ones that died are dead with no hope beyond the grave Verse 19 - we would be pitiful people because we have no hope beyond this life. But because it is certain that Christ rose from the dead and proved with over 500 witnesses we change every IF to a definite. Don’t be an IFFY Christian this Easter, be a definite believer that definitely appreciates, celebrates and appropriates the resurrection of Christ. The resurrection chapter closes with these victorious statements: “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:57-58. May you definitely have a victorious Easter. Victoriously yours in Christ, Pastor Tom Potter

The children are waiting on the weather to change to match the
season that we are heading into. Spring is here and that means
winter is going, hopefully. We had a great time at the Green
Sunday School Party, as the children celebrated a day of
missions. The Boy Scouts began their spring with their first
meeting at the Harmon House. They will be making minor
improvements to the house and grounds that may seem major.
On the near horizon there is a combined service on April 6th
starting at 10 am. The
children, K-5th
grade will be in the service. The preschool and nursery will be staffed
for this service. Volunteers can expect the service to last about an hour and half.
On April 12th
, the Children’s Ministry will be hosting the annual, Pancake and Easter
Egg Hunt. The Baptist Men will start serving breakfast at 9 am. The Children’s Choir
will sing a couple songs and a devotion will be given. Then, the hunt will begin. See
you there!
Pastor Marcus
Greetings;
March has been one exciting month in the student ministry here at Pinecrest. On March 14-15, we took
several students to the planet wisdom conference in Woodbridge, Va. There the students learned what it
takes to Thrive and dig deeper in their relationship with Christ so they will be able to effectively share their
faith with their classmates. Also, on March 21st we took 30 students and adults to the premiere showing of
the new movie God’s Not Dead. It is a movie based on standing up for your faith when everything and
everyone is against you.
With April coming we are not slowing down. On April 10-12 the Sr. High students will be attending Liberty
University’s College for a weekend. This will give the students an idea of
what college life will be like. Cost is $50 and covers housing on campus and
all meals on campus. Then on April 19th the student ministry will be going
to feed the homeless. We also want to wish all of our student athletes good
luck on their sports seasons.
Some upcoming events to keep in mind. June 26-28th is Kings Fest. Cost is
$120 for 3 day pass and hotel room. Also, the Student ministry will be going
on a missions trip to the Eastern Shore July 13-19th. A deposit of $100 is due
no later than April 16th. I am going to need chaperones for both trips.
Blessings
