EASTER FLOWER MEMORIALS

We have been able to decorate our sanctuaries with Easter flowers through the kindness of the donors listed below and on the page follow-ing. They have given the plants which adorn our altars today as memo-rials to their loved ones as noted here.

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace Amen.

AN INVITATION

Hello Cathedral Parish and Visitors,

I would like to personally invite you to my ordination to the

diaconate on April 18, 2017. The celebration of the Mass will begin at

6:30pm, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (5101 Schofield

Street) in Monona. My ordination to the transitional diaconate is the

final step before my ordination to the priesthood in June of 2018.

I appreciate all the prayers and support you have given me as

a fellow parishioner, a fellow disciple, and as a seminarian of the par-

ish. It would be great to celebrate God’s gift of the Sacrament of Holy

Orders with many of you on that night, so please consider yourself in-

vited to this great celebration.

I pray your Lenten journey has renewed your focus on the

Sacred Heart of Jesus, and you are reminded of His boundless for-

giveness when we turn to Him in humility. I look forward to seeing

many of you in a few weeks!

Peace,

Grant Thies

Cathedral Parish seminarian and parishioner

See your invitation to the ordination from fellow parishioner Grant Thies on page 3. Please note the afternoon confessions and 5:15 pm Mass on Tuesday, April 18th, will be cancelled at Holy Redeemer to allow Msgr. Holmes to be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in time to prepare for the ordi-nation.

First Holy Communion Next Sunday Next Sunday, April 23rd, over 40 youngsters of our parish will be receiv-ing their First Holy Communion — some at the 9:00 am Mass and at the 11:00 am Mass. A larger group will be receiving Jesus for the first time at the special 1:00 pm Mass in Spanish at Holy Redeemer. Please pray for all our First Communicants.

Parish St. Vincent de Paul Conference Meeting The Cathedral Parish SVdP Conference will meet at 12:30 pm next Sun-day, April 23rd, at St. Patrick. Return Rice Bowl Boxes Next Weekend Thank you for your donations to Catholic Relief Services through the Lenten Rice Bowl project. Please return your Rice Bowl box to the parish office by Sunday, April 23rd. Or, you may return your box next week-end, April 22/23, by placing it in the special basket located in front of church by the baptismal font. CATHEDRAL 20S&30S

Theology on Tap—Thursday, April 27th

Plan to join us Thursday, April 27th, 7:00 pm for TOT at the Brink Lounge when Msgr. Kevin Holmes will give another presentation in the Why Christianity? series: A Catholic Asks: Christianity Without the Trinity? A variety of distinctly American religions popped up in the 1800s that are related to Christianity, but have some unique perspectives regarding Jesus and the relationship between God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Msgr. Holmes will take a look at Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witness-es, and the Christian Scientist movement to discuss where Catholicism and those religions share some commonality but also what is so distinct about Christianity, and Catholicism in particular!

To receive email updates about Young Adult activities in our parish, please contact Marc Laudonio at 257-5000 or [email protected].
