Welcome

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

There is one body and one Spirit; there is one hope in God’s call to us.

One Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of all.

Hallelujah Christ is risen! He is risen indeed, hallelujah!

Confession

Lord God, early in the morning, when the world was young, you made life in all its beauty and terror, you gave birth to all that we know.

Hallowed be your name. Hallowed be your name.

Early in the morning, when the world least expected it, a newborn child crying in a cradle announced that you had come among us, that you were one of us.

Hallowed be your name. Hallowed be your name.

Early in the morning, surrounded by respectable liars, religious leaders, anxious statesmen and silent friends, you accepted the penalty for doing good, for being God: you shouldered and suffered the cross.

Hallowed be your name. Hallowed be your name. Early in the morning, a voice in the guarded graveyard and footsteps in the dew proved that you had risen, that you came back to those and for those who had forgotten, denied and destroyed you. Hallowed be your name. Hallowed be your name. Early in the morning in the multi-coloured company of your Church on earth and in heaven we celebrate your creation, your life, your death and resurrection, your interest in us: so to you we pray, Lord bring new life where we are worn and tired, New love where we have turned hard-hearted, Forgiveness where we feel hurt and where we have wounded, and the joy and freedom of your Holy Spirit where we are prisoners of ourselves. (Silence)

Collect of the Day

Brightness of God’s glory, whom death could not conquer nor the tomb imprison: as you have shared our frailty in human flesh, help us to share your immortality in the Spirit; let no shadow of the grave terrify us, and no fear of darkness turn our hearts from you. Reveal yourself to us this day and all our days, as the First and the Last, the Living One, our immortal Saviour and Lord. Amen.

Liturgy of the Word

First reading : 1 Corinthians 15 : 19-26 After the reading:

Absolution

To all and to each where regret is real, God pronounces pardon and grants us the right to begin again.

Thanks be to God! Amen

Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith: pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows

Dear friends, through the paschal mystery we have been buried with Christ in his baptism, so that we may rise with him to new life. Now that our Lenten observance is ended, let us reaffirm the promises we made in baptism.

Do you turn to Christ? I turn to Christ.

Do you repent of your sins? I repent of my sins. Do you reject selfish living and all that is false and unjust? I renounce them all.

I ask you, brothers and sisters, to renew that faith in which you were baptised and in which you live and grow.

Halle, halle, halle

Halle, halle, halle-lujah (sing 3 times) Hal—le—lu—jah, hal—le—lu—jah.

Yours be the Glory

Yours be the glory, risen, conquering Son, endless is the victory over death you’ve won: angels in bright rainment rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave-clothes, where your body lay. Yours be the glory, risen, conquering Son, endless is the victory over death you’ve won. See, Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb; lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom; let the church with gladness hymns of triumph sing, for the Lord is living, death has lost its sting. Yours be the glory ….. No more we doubt you, glorious Prince of life; life is naught without you: aid us in our strife; make us more than conquerors through your deathless love; bring us safe through Jordan to your home above. Yours be the glory …..

The Greeting of Peace

We are the body of Christ God’s Spirit is with us. The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you.

Reception of the Gifts

Gifts of Bread and Wine and Easter eggs are brought to the table.

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have these gifts to share.

Accept and use our offerings for your glory and for the service of your kingdom. Blessed be God for ever.

The Holy Communion

The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

All glory and honour be yours always and everywhere, mighty Creator, everliving God. We give you thanks and praise for your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, who by the power of your Spirit was born of Mary and lived as one of us. By his death on the cross, he offered the one true sacrifice for sin, and obtained an eternal deliverance for his people. And now we give you thanks that you raised him to life triumphant, and exalted him in glory. By his victory over death, the reign of sin is ended, a new day has dawned, a broken world is restored and we are made whole once more. Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we proclaim our great and glorious name, for ever praising you and singing:

Page 10: Easter Day - Mundaring Anglican Parish...Hallelujah hrist is risen! He is risen indeed, hallelujah! onfession Lord God, early in the morning, when the world was young, you made life

10

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Merciful God, we thank you for these gifts of your creation, this bread and wine, and we pray that by your Word and Holy Spirit, we who eat and drink them may be partakers of Christ’s body and blood.

On the night he was betrayed Jesus took bread; and when he had given you thanks he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take, eat; this is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ After supper, he took the cup, and again giving you thanks he gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’

Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Therefore, we do as our Saviour has commanded, proclaiming his offering of himself made once for all upon the cross, his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension, and looking for his coming again, we celebrate, with this bread and this cup, his one perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. Renew us by your Holy Spirit, unite us in the body of your Son, and bring us with all your people into the joy of your eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, with whom, and in whom, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we worship you, Father, in songs of never-ending praise: Blessing and honour and glory and power are yours for ever and ever. Amen

Page 12: Easter Day - Mundaring Anglican Parish...Hallelujah hrist is risen! He is risen indeed, hallelujah! onfession Lord God, early in the morning, when the world was young, you made life

12

As our Saviour Christ has taught us, we are confident to pray Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread and the Communion

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

All are welcome at this Holy Easter table, in Hope, Love and Joy.

Come to this table not because you must, but because you may; not because you are strong but because you are weak; not because you have arrived but because you are still on your journey. Come because you love the Lord a little and want to love him more; but above all come because he loves you and gave himself for you.
