Alleged Drunk Driver Has Near Miss with Ambulance
WILDWOOD — An ambulance was almost struck head on by an al-leged drunk driver Thurs., March 22 at approximately 7:22 p.m.
According to police re-ports dispatchers received a call from a city rescue unit of a possible intoxi-cated driver. The vehicle was driving the wrong way on the 4200 block of Artic Avenue.
Upon police arrival, the vehicle was stopped in the 100 block of West Baker Avenue where rescue per-sonnel were detaining the driver, identifi ed as Des-mond R. Peterson, 22, of
Long Beach Calif. Further investigation
revealed prior to police arrival Peterson lunged toward a fi re fi ghter in an attempt to strike him.
Peterson was charged with aggravated assault against a fi reman; resisting arrest; DWI; DWI refusal; reckless driving; posses-sion of open containers of alcohol in a motor vehicle; and several other motor vehicle violations.
The suspect was placed on a warrant complaint and is being lodged in Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $25,000 full cash bail.

Car Catches Fire Near ZooCREST HAVEN — A
car fi re tied up traffi c on westbound Crest Haven Road near Route 9, Tue., March 20 at 11:44 a.m.
According to Middle Township police, Jason Neely, 34, of Villas, was
not injured when his 1983 Chevrolet El Camino caught fi re.
Responding to the fi re were township police, Cape May Court House Fire Company and Mid-dle Township EMS.
