In case you didn’t know, our church sponsors a Cub Scout Pack. The pack is primarily made up of

youth from Calusa Park Elementary, but you will often see them on our campus volunteering and fund raising. A few weeks ago, the cubs, leaders, parents and siblings held a car wash on the front driveway. In a short 4 hours of washing cars, they raised $500 to help pay for a pack outing to Cape Canaveral this winter.

Thanks to all that stopped by for a washing! These young men are our future. The values they are learning from scouting will serve them well, just as they have served many of us since we were their age. Remember:

SCOUT OATH - On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

SCOUT LAW - A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Now that the holidays are upon us, just a reminder when you’re getting out your decorations and seasonal items,

please remember we gladly accept donations.

If you have never been to the nook, come check us out. We

are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-1pm.

Do you know of anyone in need of a wedding gown? We have three for sale in the nook. Just like a box of chocolates,

you never know what you might find at the nook.

As always, we are in need of your jewelry

and linens donations.

Happy Fall!

Thank you!

Carol

Come one, come

From Paul Clemmensen, Church Representative for Cub Scout Pack 2002

The Mission Emphasis for November is Outreach to children and families in your community and the world. We will finish up Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. We will continue to support Shadowlawn Elementary School families in many ways including the beginning of our Christmas Families Project and we will work with other groups to fill in any other ways we can to help the Christmas season be special for those affected by Hurricane Irma. Besides money there are many groups looking for volunteers. Shadowlawn Elementary could use some classroom volunteers one day a week for an hour or two. Grace Place for Children and Families would love more classroom volunteers in their morning or afternoon programs. Harry Chapin Food Bank is also looking for volunteers. Please contact Kris Clemmensen at [email protected] or 239-331-4889 or leave your name with the church office if you have some time and need help getting

connected with a group.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes Thank you to all who have returned filled shoeboxes so far! There is still time to take and fill a box. Return you box to ENUMC by Sunday, Nov. 12.

Florida United Methodist

Children’s Home Fifth Sunday

Offerings - Please help us fulfill

our commitment to support the

Children’s Home. They count on

the Florida United Methodist

Church members to contribute $1

per month or $12 per year. Please

help us reach our goal and help

the Children’s Home in their

important work with at risk

children and families in Florida.

December is the last Fifth Sunday

month in 2017 but we would love

to have your gifts and offerings for

the Children’s Home by the middle

of December so that we can help

them during the holiday season. I

recently received a letter asking

for Gift Cards to be used as gifts

for the children living at the two

Children’s Home locations. These

gift cards should be in

denominations of $10, $20 or $25

to Walmart or Target. If you would

like to contribute gift cards, please

bring them to the Church office.

Make sure that the amount of he

gift card is clearly marked and that

you label them “FL UM Children’s

Home”.

birth of their daughter, Lily, on October 18, 2017.

Our heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathy is extended to the Davis Family for the death of Gary Davis & also to the Rennie & Berg Families for the death of John Rennie.

I would like to thank Pastor Jacquie, SPRC, the staff, the volunteers, and all of the congregational

members that I’ve come in contact with thus far for being so nice and making me feel welcome! I am excited

to begin my journey here at ENUMC. I have been an Office Manager of a Church before. It was the most

spiritually rewarding and fulfilling position of my career and I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to

take a part in God’s work once again! Other work history involves The Salvation Army, Accounting and

Patient Care.

I was born and raised in Fort Myers, FL. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My favorite

color is green. I collect frogs. My hobbies include reading and making jewelry.

If you are on a committee or active in the Church—please introduce yourself and tell me what you do,

keep me up to date on your calendar events and let me how I may be able to help serve

you and our Church.

I’m in the office Monday 9am-5pm & Tuesday-Friday from 8am-4pm.

Or you may reach me via email at [email protected]

This is a great time to join Christian

Sisters! We meet the second Tuesday of

the month at Betty Hunter’s home in

Grey Oaks. Give her a call and she will give you all directions. Betty’s phone

number is 239-403-7181. We begin our meeting at 6:00 with a carry-in dinner.

This month we are beginning WHY THIS

JUBILEE, a book for Advent about our beloved hymns. We may even do some

singing to the best of our ability. Looking forward to see you on November 14 at

6pm. We will provide the books to you.

We also have just finished our audit of our church accounts, performed by an outside consulting firm. I am happy to announce that we are in compliance with good business practices, and our books are completely in order. I wish I could say this is because of the fine work of our Finance Committee, but all of the praise and congratulations should go to our former bookkeeper Joan Hemelt. After several years of working in our church office, Joan has recently retired from her paid position. She will continue to help with her other volunteer positions (such as Acolytes & Dress a Girl). If you should see her around the church, give her a big thank you for her excellent help with the finances. We’ve already put together the budget for next year. With some aggressive but completely obtainable income predictions, as well as some seriously needed cuts in spending, we should have

Greetings Members & Friends of ENUMC! Summer is over, and “Season” appears to have already stated. In addition to all of our friends from the north, we had a special visitor last month, Hurricane Irma. When the hurricane came through Naples, we had some structural damage to our church campus. There has been some roof damage to the Fellowship Hall, as well as over the church offices. And we still don’t know the full extent of the water damage. We are waiting on estimates for the repair costs, but it’s obvious that we are in for some seriously large expenses. Please prayerfully consider helping our church with any special gifts you can make, and designate them to the Building Fund. Overall weekly contributions are down and behind what we had budgeted for this year so far. These major repairs will put us farther behind.

a balanced budget for 2018. It will be discussed at the next Administrative Council meeting, so I am hoping that by the time you read this newsletter, it will have been approved. Bottom line, despite trying to do what we can, we are still spending a lot more than we have taken in this year. As of the end of September, we are over $68,000 behind. October is traditionally not a great month as far as contributions. So unless we get some serious help from our members and our seasonal friends, we will end up nearly $100,000 behind. Please consider your gifts, and remember that contributions are tax deductible. And your gifts don’t have to be in cash. Talk to me or the bookkeeper about donating stocks, real estate, or any other tangible items.

Movie Moana starts at 6:30pm. Bring your outdoor chairs

I am so proud of our youth group. It

has only been a few months with our youth

worship team jamming out. I have seen them

come together in ways I know only God could

do. With the passing weeks after Hurricane

Irma, the kids have been through so much.

We are moving into this month of

Thanksgiving. I want to put an emphasis on

how blessed we truly are even in the midst

of hard times. God has not and will never

give up on us.

The youth ministry is growing and with

these times of growth come growing pains.

Keep us in your prayers always. Pray that

God will lead us in the fast approaching New

Year. We want Gods vision to happen and not

our own short-sighted ideas. Thank you for

loving these teenagers. Continue to show

them love and attention. This ministry is a

part of the lifeline of our church.

If you would like to volunteer or

sponsor a youth, please email or call me to

find out how to get involved.

Florida United Methodist Conference Women’s Retreat Feb. 16-18, 2018 “Restored and Free” is the theme for the retreats.

The Women’s Retreats are designed to provide women a time to intentionally come away from the responsibilities of their home, children, families, and jobs; to set their feet on holy ground; and to meet Jesus Christ face to face.

Please consider joining our group of women from ENUMC for this wonderful weekend held at the Life Enrichment Center on the shores of beautiful Lake Griffin in Fruitland Park, Florida. We carpool from church Friday morning and the activities begin with dinner and worship on Friday night. There is time for Bible study, enrichment and craft sessions, music, fun, fellowship and food! The total cost for the housing & meals is $180. We stop for a meal on the way up

Friday and the way home Sunday afternoon. There is a second Retreat Weekend March 9-11, 2018. If there are women interested in going to the March Weekend I would be happy to help organize this but I plan to attend the February Retreat. If you would like more information or

are interested in attending please feel free to

contact Kris Clemmensen at 239-331-4889 or

[email protected] .

The Learning Center is very happy

to announce that our very own Gabe

Cintron teaches music to all the

children each week . The children

have been practicing for their

annual Thanksgiving Lunch Program

on Tuesday, November 21 at 11:30.

If you would like to join us for a

wonderful time of cuteness and a

delicious catered Thanksgiving

lunch for only $9.00 please call the

preschool office at 239-775-0745.

Each week at The Learning Center

the children are taught a new Bible

lesson and verse, weekly themes,

their colors, shapes, letters, math,

science, character development and

much more. During the week we

have weekly readers from the

church family come in and read to

the children for about 20 minutes,

if you are interested in reading to

the children please call the

preschool office to see what days

are available. Did you know that if

you refer a family member, friend

or business associate to The

Learning Center Preschool and they

enroll you will receive a Gift from

us as our way of saying Thank you!

As always we thank you for your

prayers, support and referrals.

These past two months Pastor Jacquie and Al Miceli have been teaching a Sunday morning series

on prayer. The early Christians believed in and thrived on the power of intercessory prayer. When

they prayed, God responded in amazing ways. Out of this study our mission and purpose has been

to prepare and coordinate a prayer chain and prayer teams to commit. It is an awesome privilege

to be able to come boldly before God’s throne of Grace and ask for our needs and

deepest desires, and to intercede on behalf of others in need. If you

would like to be a part of the prayer chain, please call the office

and let us know. We will need your phone

number and e-mail address.

Unto the Least of These

During the recent meeting with our Visitation and Stephen’s Ministers at ENUMC, we learned we have some true ministers of the Gospel in that group! They are folks who give their time, talents, gifts and service. They reach out to those in need and truly care for them. They love and serve anyone they can, and pray for them too. The Stephen’s Ministry and the Visitation Ministry at this Church is here to meet your needs and the needs of those suffering in our congregation and surrounding community.

Our ministers need your help in communicating the needs of

those you may know that could benefit from our service.

Stephen’s Ministry is a Christ Centered ministry of ‘Lay people serving Lay people’ through confidential listening, and caring personal connections; weekly visitation, prayer, and/or communion as needed. If you know anyone in need of this ministry, please contact the Church office.

The word Ebenezer in Hebrew

means “stone of help”. An

Ebenezer, then, is simply a

memorial of God’s great help

and deliverance.

This Thanksgiving season, let’s

remember God’s faithfulness

to us in these difficult times

we have faced this year. Let’s

raise our own spiritual

Ebenezer in thanks to God,

testifying of his great help and

deliverance during those

difficult times. His presence

with us today, and His

promises of help and goodness

for our future in Him.

“Whoever offers the sacrifice of

thanksgiving glorifies me, and

prepares his way so that I will

show God’s salvation to

him” (Psalm 50:23).

Raise your Ebenezer

In 1 Samuel 7, the prophet

Samuel and the Israelites

had great difficulty with the

Philistines, and found

themselves, once again,

under attack by the very

large and ominous

advancing Philistine army.

Samuel offered a sacrifice to

God and prayed for their

protection. God listened to

Samuel, causing the

Philistines to lose the battle

and retreat back to their

own territory. After the

Israelite victory, the Bible

records: “Then Samuel took a

stone and set it up between

Mizpah and Shen, and called

its name Ebenezer, saying,

‘Thus far the Lord has helped

us” (1 Samuel 7:12).

If you didn’t receive an ENUMC Concert Series letter in the mail, please see Brent!!! Our concert season starts on 11/12/17 – Celebrating the Music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn with Dan Miller, trumpet, Glenn Basham, violin, Brandon Goldberg, piano (on YouTube, search “Little Big Shots - Steve and Brandon Jam” – Brandon is an 11 year old jazz pianist). Duke Ellington is one of the most towering figures in the history of jazz, writing and composing his own sophisticated, swinging music and leading his own orchestra for over fifty years. The music Ellington and Strayhorn composed is an integral part of

the Great American Songbook and forms the backbone of jazz repertoire. The program will include favorites such as Take The A Train, Satin Doll, In A Mellowtone, Caravan, Do

Nothing ‘til You Hear From Me, Perdido, Mood Indigo, Just Squeeze Me, In A Sentimental Mood, Sophisticated Lady, Happy-Go Lucky Local and Cottontail. Dan Miller built his reputation touring and recording with Harry Connick Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Maynard Ferguson and Woody Herman. Glenn Basham has been the Concertmaster of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra since 1994. Eleven-year old pianist Brandon Goldberg is a Miami-native and has been enthralling audiences nation-wide with featured performances on The Harry Connick Jr. Show, The Steve Harvey Show and NBC’s Little Big Shots. Dan befriended Brandon this year after working with him as the director of the Miami-Dade All-County Honors High School Jazz Band. They are joined for an evening of hard swinging acoustic jazz music by bassist Don Mopsick and drummer Paul Gavin. Do NOT miss this concert!!! There will be a concert on December 10th at 3pm featuring choirs of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Mayflower UCC, Unity of Naples, and ENUMC. Each church

will be doing something special and the 2nd half of the concert will be a combined choir performing the Christmas Cantata – “How Should a King Come” by Jay Rouse and Randy Vader. There will be a love offering taken to help offset costs of this “community church choir” concert. Be sure to put December 10th on your calendar!

We would like to invite anyone interesting in joining the choir to come and check it out. We have

fun at rehearsal (a LOT sometimes – haha). Please know you are welcome and we would

love to have you join us!

___________________ I’m very excited to announce that the second Sunday of this month – November 12th, we will be kicking off our new Modern Worship Service at 11:15! If you like a modern style of worship, we hope you will join us for great music and the word!
