• Provide the key items you worked in 2007– Two conference calls inviting all section chairs

to participate– Attended Toledo’s Centennial Dinner/Meeting– Forwarded various IEEE and R4 virtual

Highlights of 2007 Activities• The section had 35 - 40 events in 2007 including technical meetings on

RFID, VOIP, Arc Flash Hazards, Informatics Database for biological Data, Intellectual Property Issues, Pattern based System Engineering, Forensic Engineering, and an Introduction to Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). PES/IAS had 2 4-week short courses in March and October. We also enjoyed an Annual Picnic Baseball Outing, annual awards banquets for PES and the Section, and several facility tours including the Altairnano Research Facility in Anderson and the Purdue Office of Engagement.

• The section also sponsored 5 TISP sessions, Sponsored 1 FIRST team that won an Essay Writing Contest, and Sponsored the annual Nation Engineer’s Children’s Day at Children’s Museum in Indianapolis.

• One other notable accomplishment for 2007 was the formation of a new sister organization called the “Indiana Council of Engineering Societies (ICES)”. This coalition of ~15 engineering society’s has come together to share resources, volunteers, and events in Central Indiana. Its formation can be traced to successful volunteer outreach from the yearly Children's Museum Event. The ICES will sponsor 3 events in 2008 with the help of CIS-IEEE.

Plan for 2008• The section is planning around 35 events for 2008 - including

– 4 (4 week) short courses - 2 by PES/IAS, 2 by CIS-IEEE– An Annual Awards Banquet in April– The Annual National Engineer’s Children’s day at the Children’s Museum (Feb)– 5-7 TISPs and/or TISP related events– Annual Baseball Picnic Outing – Sponsor the ICES “All Engineering” Banquet– Senior Member Rodeo

• Technical Presentations - including – Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency - Bill Brown– Advances in SCADA Technology– EMBS/CS - Future Trends in Data Mining by Dr. Jawei Han

• Tours– The Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO)– I Power Energy System Tour in Anderson– Lugar Alternative Energy Center

Highlights of 2007 Activities

• We held two meetings.

• Name two most successful activities that your section had in 2007 and reason for their success.– The most successful of the meetings was our

visit to Laker Elementary School near Pigeon , MI. The school generated electricity using wind power.

• Perhaps next year we will have progressed to the point where we can benefit from R4 help.

Highlights of 2007 Activities• Celebrated the Section’s Centennial.

Sponsored “Mathcounts” competition. Actively supported the Student Chapter of IEEE. Provided opportunities for members to acquire Continuing Education Credits.

• Centennial Celebration: Planned well in advance and promoted frequently.

• Presentation on Software Security: subject interesting to a large spectrum of persons.
