Meet the newest mem- bers of the OSV Student Leader team: Nabila Alam, Zoey Nguyen, and Bogdan Bordieanu! Nabila is a senior biology major with medical school aspirations. Zoey is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering who hopes to one day work on green energy initiatives. e youngest of the new lead- ers, Bogdan, is a sophomore biochemistry major in pursuit of a medical/health profession. Volunteer alongside these wonderful service advo- cates and be sure to give them a high five when you see them! e OSV would like to recognize Keling Chen for her service and dedication to our office by pre- senting her with the Spring 2013 Volunteer of the Semester Award! rough the OSV, Keling has devoted over 50 hours to the community this semester alone and also participated in the Park Preservation Alterna- tive Spring Break trip. Keling is a graduate student earning her master’s degree in geosciences. Congratulations! With the end of this semester, also comes the end of a journey for three fabulous OSV Student Leaders: Matthew Wyder, Haley Bilbray and Leah Collum. ey have collectively led many of your favorite service events including Viva Volunteer, FEST, ASB and much more. Matt served with the OSV for three years and helped the office expand to better serve the community. Haley, or the “care- taker of the community garden,” helped with the OSV’s green and sustainable ef- forts. Leah, undoubtedly the most enthusi- astic leader, always attracted many students to our booths and events. We are sad to see them go, but wish them all the best in their future endeavors. EARTH WEEK 2013 is spring, the OSV hosted its second an- nual Earth Week, partnering with Student Government, Sustainability Programs, and other UTD groups and community agen- cies. e celebration included: Pedal for the Planet, Earth Fair, Creek Cleanup, and Garden Workshop. is is junior psychology major, Pegah Haghighi, at our largest event, Creek Cleanup, where we mobi- lized 33 volunteers, collecting a total of 643 trash items along creeks in the city of Plano. aspirations. Zoey is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering who hopes to one day work on green energy initiatives. The youngest of the new lead-ers, Bogdan, is a sophomore biochemistry major in pursuit of a medical/health profession.
