Earth Hour celebration at Ghora Bandha, India 2012

This year along with whole world we the members of Jhakhand Children Green Club have celebrated the EARTH HOUR in our locality GHORABANDHA, Jamshedpur, India along with thousands residents of the area. The planning was started two weeks back during our weekly meeting of JCGC.

This time in India the Earth Hour, was planned on today, i.e. Saturday, 31st March 8:30 – 9:30 PM . Beside Mega planning in India by WWF , India our Jamshedpur city also have participated in International initiative in the same spirit. we have also switched off lights in our locality at Jamshedpur.

Two Sumo were made ready on 30th, March 2012 with microphone arrangement and poster. We had visited on bicycles and Sumo. Along with our team we had announced publicly in English and in Hindi ( our national language ) on microphone at different areas of our locality Ghora Bhandha and Telco Township.

Our team members had distributed candles along with “ Earth Hour” sticker and requested for putting off the electric light accordingly.

This was a very enjoyable moment for us to meet with different types of peoples in our locality and get their feed back on this Global initiative. Developed team work and learned time management to cover larger area in 3 hours time. Ultimately by putting off light for 60 mins. beside saving energy tried to spread the message of saving energy on regular basis.

In India Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore- have registered in the race to become the Earth Hour 2012 Champion City! These cities are taking meaningful steps to encourage participation for Earth Hour and build a green community within their city.

This is a symbolic support made Globally to raise awareness among all nations. By this collective action from local citizens, our cities can make a huge difference in reducing the impact on the environment. Let us initiate regular conservation of energy to save our nature and biodiversity.
