Earning an MAI Designation from the Appraisal Institute

A co-founder of the Idaho Research Group, Tim Williams has over twenty years of experience as a real estate appraiser. The longtime appraiser also serves as the president of Idaho-based Single Point Solution, a GIS provider for the real estate industry. Additionally, Tim Williams holds an MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute.

In order to become eligible for MAI Designated Membership with the Appraisal Institute, one must first take a diagnostic test. After passing this test, the candidate may then register for courses. Required courses include Advanced Concepts & Case Studies, Advanced Income Capitalization, Advanced Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use, and Quantitative Analysis. Candidates must also earn credit for General Appraiser Report Writing & Case Studies.

Participants in the program may choose another option for completing some of the requirements. Known as the General Demonstration Report-Capstone Program, this option expedites the process, allowing candidates to complete the demonstration of knowledge requirement in two months.
