Chaperones

Chaperones manage the cabin. They also eat meals in the dining hall, participate in all activities and sleep in the cabins with the students.

Chaperones must have an approved background check and go through training.

Chaperones must follow all district rules and guidelines or they will be asked to leave camp.

If you are interested in being a chaperone, please fill out the information on our sign in sheet at our meeting. Also, go ahead and fill out a background check form (2011-2012). Use the link below:

More Camp Information

All meals are provided, except the sack lunch on Sept. 19th. Send a completely disposable lunch with your child the day we leave.

Cabins have bunk beds. Each child has a separate place to sleep, bathe and use the restroom.

Teachers and chaperones participate in all activities.

What to Bring to Camp

What NOT to Bring to Camp

• Jewelry• Radios/tape players/CD players• Curling iron• Hair dryer• Electronic games (i.e. Game Boys, etc.)• Food or snacks (all food and snacks will

be provided)• Knives or other sharp items• Other expensive items (i.e. cameras, cell

phones, beepers, etc.)

Camp Forms

• Packets will go home at “Meet the Teacher” night.

• All forms will be due by Friday, Sept. 9th. All medications (and medication forms) need to be turned in to the nurse by Friday, Sept. 9th, too. This is extremely important because the nurse must verify all medication and forms. She must have time to make any adjustments or get clarifications. Please adhere to this deadline.

Medications

• It is suggested that you send over-the-counter medicines for:– Pain (like Tylenol or Motrin)– Bug Bites– Seasonal Allergies

These non-prescription medications do not require a doctor’s signature but do require you to fill out the proper form.

• Forms for prescription medications must be:– signed by a physician,– brought in the original container with the

prescription label adhered,– measured out for the correct number of doses

for the trip,– placed in a baggie with the student’s name (We will give you the forms at “Meet the

Teacher” night.)

Medications

• Students are not allowed to transport prescription medicines so you must bring them to the nurse.

• You can turn in your medication forms to her when you bring them.

• When we return from camp and you pick up your child on Wednesday, you must collect the medication from the nurse. It will not be given to the student to take home.

Food Allergies, etc.

• If your child has food allergies, please let your child’s teacher know.

• If your child is not allowed to eat certain foods due to religious or other reasons, please let us know and we will contact the camp coordinator.

• Every meal will include a salad bar or cold cereal bar in case your child does not like the main meal.

Monday Morning• Students are not allowed to ride the bus with all of

their bags and bedding so they must be brought to school on Monday and you must pick them up on Wednesday.

• Please drop the kids off in the car line on Monday morning (we will have extra help to get the kids’ things out of the car).

• We will board the bus at 8:30 so please bring your child to school at the regular time (between 7:30 and 7:50). The students will make their name tags, meet their chaperones, and do a final checklist before we leave.

Monday Morning• The students will be given three name tags: One for

their bag, one for their bedding (please put it in a heavy duty plastic bag so it doesn’t get dirty in the storage compartment under the bus) and one for their backpack. If your child is bringing more than those three items, please make sure the item is clearly marked with their first and last name.

• Be sure to send a sack lunch with your child.

• We will meet in the cafeteria.

Wednesday Afternoon

• Students are not allowed to ride the bus with all of their bags and bedding so they must be picked up on Wednesday.

• Please pick the kids up in the front of the building on Friday after the buses leave (around 3:00). Do not park in the bus lane before school gets out.

• Don’t forget to pick up your child’s medicines from the nurse.
