Students seeking licensure in Early Education and Care (EEC) through the state of Massachusetts, will need to complete Child Growth and Development in grade 10, Early Childhood Education I in grade 11, and Early Childhood Education II in grade 12. Through the Early Childhood Education I and II courses, students will take part in classroom studies and an internship program. To prepare students to work in Early Childhood Care and Education, students will develop a foundation of knowledge of 3-5 year olds and have opportunities to share learning experiences with peers through classroom experiences as they also intern in the field. The internship program will be conducted in PK-K sites in the Hudson Public Schools and in preschool/daycare centers within the Hudson region that collaborate with the Hudson Public Schools. Licensed home day cares are not an option for students to seek their internship hours. Through the internship experience, students will work with children ages 3-5 years in order to complete their 150 hour requirement from the EEC. Students will need to provide their own transportation to the off-campus internship sites. By the end of the Early Childhood Education II course, students will need to complete their 150 hours requirement. Upon completion of the Early Childhood Education II course, graduation from Hudson High School, and completion of the EEC application, students will become State of Massachusetts Early Education and Care preschool Teacher Certified.

• Early Childhood Education I is a field study program offered to juniors who are planning on certification upon graduation. The concept of pre-school education and development of three to five year olds are studied in the classroom. Students will work in in PK-K sites in the Hudson Public Schools or in preschool/daycare centers within the Hudson region that collaborate with the Hudson Public Schools. Licensed home day cares are not an option for students to seek their internship hours. To prepare students to work in Early Childhood Care and Education, students will begin to develop a foundation of knowledge of 3-5 year olds and have opportunities to share learning experiences with peers through classroom experiences as they also intern in the field. The students will participate in routine care, play activities, and learn to plan and implement lesson plans that connect to state preschool guidelines and standards. The experiences with the 3-5 year old children will prepare students for employment as well as future parenthood. Students must be CORI for each work site. This course is the second of three needed to become State of Massachusetts Early Education and Care preschool Teacher Certified.
