Paris School District R Wayne Fawcett, Superintendent 602 N 10th St Paris, AR 72855

Each year, as teachers and staff return for the new school year, we meet in our auditorium for a brief message for the coming year. Each year there are new challenges and opportunities for students, teachers, staff and administration. However, one thing doesn’t change: our commitment to help students achieve to their highest potential. Although the “No Child Left Behind” legislation has been replaced by “ESSA: Every Student Succeeds Act” the core principle remains that we believe that every student has a right to a free and appropriate education. That education should be tailored to the needs of the individual student to maximize their potential. We are fortunate to live in a community that strongly supports the school system. We have a supportive school board that believes that education must adapt to the ever changing needs of a society that is now global. Our teachers understand that we must be progressive in our approach to delivering instruction and facilitating learning for every student. Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of our school system is our students. Every day the vast majority of our students come to school to learn, some are slightly more eager than others but, our teachers work magic and work with each student so that progress is made. I encourage you to become involved in our school system. Attend athletic events, band concerts, volunteer, join the PTO or just come visit. We are proud of our school district and love to show off what we have accomplished and will accomplish in the future. Proud to be an EAGLE! R. Wayne Fawcett, Superintendent Paris School District

Shoes for Water Drive Campaign

Paris Middle School News

Paris Middle School embarked on a very important service project this fall. Karla Allen from Ozarks Water Project visited with PMS faculty and students about how they can help get clean, safe water to people in need on a global scale by donating used shoes. Students began collecting used but wearable shoes the last week of September until October 6th to donate to Ozarks Water Project. They in turn will sell these shoes to a company who will provide them to those in need of shoes. The money they receive will be used to dig wells and install water pumps and filtration systems in villages in Haiti, Uganda and Kenya. PMS collected 1295 pairs of shoes! Fifth grade collected the most with 500 pairs of shoes! Thanks to Community Outreach Services for donating 130 pairs to help with the campaign! Way to go!

Students Honor First Responders

Flying the Flag Paris Middle School was recently gifted an American flag by United States Senator John Boozman. The flag was previously flown over the U.S. Capitol.

This is a tradition Coach Tucker began last school year, "to help make a connection between sports and academics." The goal is to show the younger students the importance of education.

Seniors Making Preparations PHS Seniors took time the morning of September 9th to place orders for their Graduation caps, gowns and announcements with Jostens. These items will be delivered to the students in the spring. PHS Graduation is set for Friday, May 12th in the gymnasium.

Welcome Home Alumni Paris School District would like to welcome all Paris High Alumni to “come home” for this year’s Homecoming Festivities and Alumni Day on Friday, October 14th.

Alumni Volleyball Game To carry on a tradition of the past six years and kick off the 2016 volleyball season, Coach Wes Davis invited PHS volleyball alumni to play during the Blue and White event on August 19th. Seventeen alumni participated in the event, playing odd graduating years versus even. It was a great time to show our support of the Lady Eagles! Admission to the event was white towels, deodorant and/or hair ties. The 2016 PHS volleyball schedule can be found on our website at parisschools.org then click on the sports link.
