Evolving and Sustaining Ocean Best Practices IV OBPS Workshop 2020 18; 21-25 & 30 Sep 2020 (Online) Workshop Summary This workshop engages the ocean research and applications community on the creation and use of best practices. It draws on the experience of Ocean Best Practices System (OBPS) user groups and stakeholders on how the system should evolve to better fulfil its vision and mission with respect to their community’s needs. The workshop will produce a set of documents on community-specific and general recommendations for OBPS development and expanded community engagement. Due to the current environment, the workshop is a web-based “virtual” meeting. This has allowed up to alter the format for broader global participation. Community engagement is the key goal of this meeting and working groups dominate the agenda. The agenda consists of a plenary on 18 September to provide background and kick off the working groups. The self-organized working groups meet sometime during the span of September 21 -24 as determined by the working group lead/participants. The second plenary on September 25 is a series of discussions around the reports of the working groups and their recommendations. A short perspective paper will be available for each working group prior to the workshop. These recommendations will be integrated into a multi-year plan and presented at the final “mini-plenary” on September 30. The second plenary and mini-plenary will have two instances to accommodate time zones of our global participants.
